Both hit the spot after a long day, especially since they serve late, which is super convenient around New Brunswick. Daniel's is always a great pizza spot to hit up when in the area! They always have a variety of fresh pizzas available to serve slice style, which is what we did this time. We tried the chicken bacon ranch, the chicken vodka (my personal favorite), and the Margherita. Their margherita definitely leans towards the sweeter side of the pizza spectrum. Daniel's definitely does thin crust well - the pizza is always crispy but never burnt! While the slices are massive (one leftover slice filled my air fryer bin - proof attached), the prices are a bit steep at about $4 per slice, and well over $20-25 per pie. I also love a saucy pizza, which the slices definitely skimp out on a bit compared to their full pie counterparts - if you have a couple people to split a pie with, I would recommend getting a full pie for maximum sauce and toppings! read more

My all time favorite pizza in the ENTIRE WORLD is daniel's penne vodka pizza. There were times in college where I would seriously eat a slide of this pizza with a cold can of coke almost every other day! (I know, in hindsight, that was not the healthiest choice... but ZERO REGRETS. THIS PIZZA IS AMAZING!). If you need a break from studying, want a pick me up or just need some drunk pizza, daniels is the BEST option. The penne slice is creamy and their vodka sauce is phenomenal! The pasta is cooked to perfection and the crust is always crispy. When you walk in, you basically tell them what slice you want and they pop it in the over for you until it gets super hot and fresh! If you pay with cash here you save 50 cents, otherwise its basically $4 for one slice of penne vodka pizza. Not going to lie, that is kind of pricey for one slice, but it is so worth it. I'd say to be actually full, you would need two slices! One may just leave you wanting more. They also have the most amazing, buttery and fresh garlic knots, which they warm up for you as well. You can tell that a lot of the ingredients they use are so fresh, which is what makes this pizza amazing, A lot of the time, they're making the pizzas in front of you and you can watch them put it together. Once your hot pizza comes out make sure you toss some extra parmesan on there and red pepper flakes! SO SO GOOD!!! The best part is that this slice is consistently great, I've never had a day where I felt like it wasn't as good as it normally is... the pizza is deliciousssss every time without fail. Parking is limited in this area, you need to park near a meter and NOT in the residential area -- you will get a ticket! (I am speaking from experience, sadly). There's also nowhere to sit, but there is a park a few blocks over, you can pick up your slices and eat them there or honestly if you don't feel like waiting you can stand inside and eat it as well! Daniels has some really amazing pizza, no doubt about it. The dough is everything you could want in a NY style slice, thin and just the right amount of crisp without being cracker crust, and just thick and chewy enough for a perfect, foldable combination. Every slice I've tried from Daniel's I've enjoyed. All that being said however, the price is a bit ridiculous. $12 for 2 slices and 3 garlic knots? A bit high. And I didn't even get the most expensive slices, there were plenty of kinds that cost even more. Whether it's worth the price is up to how much you value pizza that's maybe 10-20% better than the average pizza place around New Brunswick for like 30-40% higher prices. read more

I was never the biggest pizza fan because growing up I had only experienced fast food pizza. And you can only really have dominos and pizza hut so many times until you start getting sick of it. Daniels Pizzeria changed that for me permanently. I still remember being uninterested when my friends decided to get pizza while I was hanging out at their apartment, but joined in nonetheless because I was hungry. The very first time around, I had margherita and chicken vodka and I was blown away. For once, there wasn't an overwhelming decadence of sauce and cheese. Rather, I was immersed in the wonderful flavor that had me returning for slice after slice and feeling disappointed when the pizza had been devoured by us all so quickly. There was ample amounts of their lovely sauce and there was such a pleasant, mild sweetness to it that I loved. Their vodka sauce was especially lovely and was a favorite amongst all my friends. I also really appreciated that the crust wasn't chewy or doughy, but rather had a nice bite to it. It was crisp on the bottom and there was a softness in the middle giving a perfect texture experience. Since then, I get Daniel's at least once every 1-2 months. Whenever I'm in the mood for pizza, I know that it has to be from Daniel's because I only want the best pizza that I've had. Its consistent quality also has me feeling very comfortable trying other flavors they offer as well. I've thoroughly enjoyed their buffalo chicken and chicken, bacon, ranch pizza as well, which were flavors I never thought of for pizza. Daniels has had such a lasting impact on me in fact, that I've even become interested in trying other proper pizzerias (just no more fast food pizza). Rarely is there a place that can have such an influence on me that it'll make me reconsider my feelings about food, but Daniel's showed me the stark difference between what I thought pizza was and how vast the world of it really is. Daniels pizza is a must try for anyone near the New Brunswick area and certainly for any students on Rutgers Campus. read more

We ordered the Fat Daniel (mozarella sticks, french fries, lots of cheese and deliciousness) and the NY Style pies. Both were very good! It's definitely the sauce, the sauce is amazing and has a little sweet taste to it which makes it even better. If your look for great thin crust pizza , this hole in the wall is the best. I alway get the regular NY style cheese pie with toppings. The thin crust is so amazing, not droppy like other establishments. You can pick up the slice and stays straight. The chat & doigh used is just hots the spot, nothing heavy or burnt crust either. I e been trying to go meat less recently so I've been a yuge fan of the margarita slice as well as the white slice. A little hole in the wall spot with a sushi place sharing the floor space, it can get crowded but the service is always as quick as possible. SHADY business. College pizza is college pizza so not going to talk about that. I want to talk about the service. Paid for a cheese slice. Should have been $3.25 as advertised. After paying with my card I saw on their hand held device that it came to $3.75. It's only a plain slice (as is for a college town that's expensive). I questioned it and they said it's because I'm using a credit card. That's all we'll good but 1. It wasn't communicated to me that there would be a surcharge and there was no sign saying it and 2. An additional .50 cents on a $3.25 slice is highway robbery. The usual amount anywhere would be 3% for using credit. In this case that would be .10 cents. Instead without telling me they charged me 15% on my slice to use my credit card. With the number of kids not thinking about it or drunk kids late at night I WOULDN'T TRUST THESE GUYS AT ALL. There are other businesses that do right by their customer. This is not that place. read more

One of my favorite pizza places at Rutgers! I come here frequently anytime I'm craving a slice or two of pizza. In addition to pizza they also serve delicious garlic knots. I've tried the eggplant parm slice, which I did not enjoy. My favorite slice is the penne vodka. There is a lot of pasta piled on the slice, and the sauce is one of the better ones in the area. The slice is not drowning in a layer of cheese which I also like, bc it allows the taste of the vodka sauce to be noticeable. The main downside is the prices- running close to 4.50 per slice, which I think is a lot for pizza. the crust can sometimes be very hard sometimes, while I prefer a more foldable slice with a little less stiffness. Very limited seating in the place itself, which is also shared with a small sushi restaurant. read more

Ordered a pepperoni and plain pizza along with garlic knots. Both pizzas were burned and crust was hard. My pepperoni pizza for no apparent reason was half pepperoni and half cheese. Garlic knot order was a very small portion, typically get far more knots at other pizza places. Not recommended. read more

Daniel's was the first stop of our pizza crawl since it had been touted as the best in the area, a little hole in the wall- hidden gem that stands above the rest in the area. If i had a dollar for every review claiming this place has the "Best Vodka Penne Slices" My two slices would have been gratis. Suffice to say high hopes here, and Daniel's kinda fell short. I'd have grabbed the Vodka Penne if my compatriots hadn't opted for it first, i trust Broseph's taste in pizza, and if a place makes truly good food that'll shine through in all of their slices. Broseph grabbed A Newyork Slice along with ??? and Kev grabbed the rave reviewed Vodka Penne, I myself decided to go nontraditional here and went with Chicken Parm and Fat Daniel. Let me preface this by saying the pizza wasn't bad, i enjoyed my slices a lot, and this pizzeria does a lot of things right- BUT has too high a price premium and falls short of greatness. When compared to offerings outside of the New Brunswick area, especially this end of the Easton strip, its easy to see how Daniel's could get blown to herculean heights compared to most of the competition. I read a ton of other reviews before walking into Daniel's, its been on my list for some time now, and people touched on a a lot of positives here, one person said they're "neurotic in the best way" and my god i see that, they clearly take their time, and things are never rushed, even with the crowd that sprung up they just kept an even pace, when ordering my two slices they came out of the oven at different times, being physically checked to make sure things were warm enough and properly melted so they could be served- most places will just slam it in, slam it out and be done with it. That does mean things are a bit slower however, these dudes work at their own pace. Pizza crust was on the crisp side the way most people like re-heat jobs, both for the Chicken Parm, and the Sicilian Fat Daniel, cheese to sauce ratio was a little on the low side for cheese, which isn't so bad as the sauce here stole the show anyway very punchy. Toppings were all decent, but had their flavor overpowered by the sauce, but occasionally notes of chicken or mozarella would pop up. Compared to some entry's on the Easton strip Daniel's may seem a benchmark, but the fact is its just good, better than okay, but certainly not one of the greats. If not for the price premium i could see myself dropping in and eating slices here on the regular. Speaking of price, like most joints on the strip there's an up-charge to use cards, so be prepared to add 35 cents if paying with credit or debit. I frequented this place every single week back when I attended school. It's an overpriced slice of some really good sh*t. Also, free shots of Grey Goose during drunk pizza times! Still a very decent spot for pizza even while sober. The slices so average in a just under $4, which is more than most people are willing to pay for one pizza slice. *Their hours are kind of all over the place; make sure you call before walking in during the daytime, because this place caters to the drunk crowd.* The sauce is what really makes the Penne Vodka the best slice of pizza you will probably ever have at a college town. Come here only for this slice. The Tortellini slice is also delicious. On days I'd walk in when I was sober, the Margherita was also a go-to. They have a decent variety that always tasted pretty consistent every time I went, so the quality was fair for the price. I almost walked past this place because of the black lettering on the sign at night, it is definitely a solid pizzeria in NB, better than the pizza offered at any of the nearby places. The people are great here and everybody knows that if you want to get good pizza in NB, you come here, which means that it's got customers coming in after nights of drinking. The people behind the counter just roll with it, which I think is great although it can get loud at times. I got the Margherita when I went, and the slices are hot and fresh. Would be a 5-star review, if it wasn't for the fact that the slice dripped oil the entire time I was eating it. The crust is thin and crisp, maybe a little bit too crisp for some people. read more
