After having lived in Morehead for a year and now being a frequent visitor, I love that I was able to witness the transition from food truck to full fledged establishment. Whenever I walk into Dank Burrito now there is always a line and tables are well occupied. Walk on up to the counter and choose between a burrito, tacos, or a bowl (I am a fan of the tacos) and choose a flavor bomb to fill them. Some of my favorites are the jerk chicken, Asian pulled pork, and the tree hugger for vegetarians. And of course check out their special flavor bombs on the easels at the front. And then I got my order :/ The chips were ice cold, like they had been in a fridge? And even though it was "prepared fresh", my burrito was cold and just lacked flavor, except for spicyness and I was searching for the carne asada. Our favorite was the Prime Rib Cheesesteak...... delicious! Jerk Chicken was really good flavors. The pork belly was one of my favorites. My wife really enjoyed the teriyaki shrimp which tasted like she was eating a chinese taco. Carne Asada was spicy, but good and the Cajun Fried Mahi was also good. The salsa bar has a good variety, and each order comes with a small side of chips. I would come here for the aesthetic of the restaurant but not for the food. I haven't had a bad thing from Dank. Anything the owner touches turns to gold! I don't like a lot of spice in my food so I stuck to the teriyaki items or the plain jane with chicken or beef. I've started eating a more keto friendly diet recently so I get the bowls with no beans or rice and extra lettuce, and it's delicious! Their guacamole is on point and goes perfectly with their chips. They have a lot of different salsas to choose from for your chips. Super chill environment for sitting down to eat and they have a drive thru! The atmosphere is cool even though it looks like an old Wendy's you'd never think that they could do what they do. Went on a recommendation of a local and sooooo glad we did. We got our drinks first and they told us they would be a little longer on my catch of the day It took them a very long time to make the catch of the day because they hadn't prepared it that morning as they usually do. Usually a long wait time would leave a negative review, but the wonderful staff not only kept us updated the whole time on the status of our meal, but proceeded to give us TWO extra burritos free for our inconvenience. The menu description also stated there would be sour cream. I opened my burrito and saw what was maybe 1 millimeter of sour cream, if that. The millimeter is a generous offering. OH, and the bathroom stall was out of toilet paper. Now that's some serious neglect because we ALLLLL KNOW those plastic holder thingies have room for TWO, count em TWO, rolls of giant toilet paper. The great opportunity though is the recently opened public deck next-door. You can take your two tacos and maybe a side order of Spanish rice and black beans in sit down on the picnic tables next-door and enjoy an exceptional meal in and oceanfront Setting for less than $12. I very much want this place to survive so go down try it .iI you don't favor tacos try one of their massive burritos or a bowl with the flavorful proteins put on top of rice. I live just down the road on Front Street. I want to encourage all of our local people to call-in and pick it up . Have them run it out to you at the curb so you won't have to deal with the amazingly difficult parking situation and you'll be able to enjoy some of the most delicious, creative and tasty food options in town. Tried Dank Burrito a few years ago and wasn't impressed. Thought I'd give them another try, and I'm still underwhelmed. Husband and I both ordered the Cheesesteak Burrito, and while it wasn't terrible, it wasn't great, either. The filling was lukewarm at best; I would have expected a freshly made burrito to be hot. It tasted ok, not too much rice and the steak was good but nothing special. The chips, however...low rent nacho cheese Doritos are not something I expect as a side for a $9 meal. Cold, cheap tasting, and all the salsa in the world couldn't help it. The salsa bar is a nice touch. Maybe invest a bit more in the chips to go with it?
