I have been going to see Dr. Shiri and his team for over 15 years and they are all great to work with. I have had difficulty with insurance at times and they are always on the case to help me through those processes. The hygienists are all really caring and always ask the right questions to make the cleanings as easy as can be. They will talk you through something as simple as an X-Ray to make you feel at ease. Having had multiple procedures over the years, Dr. Shiri is informative and always explains the best ways to proceed and to also be proactive about your health. He is also very personable and caring. Came here for a groupon of a teeth whitening session and had a great experience. Everyone is super kind and Dr. Shiri was easy to talk to and made me feel cared for. I had some teeth sensitivity from the whitening session, and he gave me a gel that helped with that and gave me advice on how to keep up the whitening without upselling or anything. Miguel is the most meticulous dental hygienist. I got Zoom! Whitening and he made sure my gums were protected. My experience with whitening today was great. Awesome bedside manner from everyone. Dr. Shiri is honest and does not upsell services you don't need. He indulged my endless questions, which was greatly appreciated. I chipped my front tooth as a kid and have always been self conscious about it. My dentists have told me to leave it alone and if I filled it with bond, it would eventually chip off. Dr Shiri offered an enameloplasty. I didn't want to do that for a number of reasons but his aesthetic eye was sharper than mine! There's definitely more balance to my smile now. Parking: they validate for half of the costs which isn't so bad. You can try to find street parking but make sure to read the signs. For those who leave negative reviews about dentists in general this is for you: Dentists aren't magicians. You should be flossing, brushing with a soft electric tooth brush, getting cleanings every 4 months, and using a waterpik everyday. Dental work is not going to last forever especially if you don't maintain it yourself at home. Avoid needing dental work by doing the aforementioned. It costs less than implants and you'll get to chew steak into your 90s. Thank me later. read more

Punches above his weight and not well. Practices oral surgery, put implant in wrong place because "couldn't read [his] handwriting." One he put in the implant in the correct place it was placed too high, food kept getting trapped under. Wouldn't pay for another oral surgeon to take out improperly placed implant which was irritating the sinus. Good hygienist but he isn't. And he'll keep trying to sell you on stuff like Invisalign. read more

My experience with Danny Shiri was positive in the beginning, but what happened at the follow up is why I am giving him 1 star. I needed my wisdom teeth removed. He did this beautifully and the experience was totally painless. That is... until I was attempting to fill my pain med prescription. He had written down the incorrect year on the prescription and by the time I went back to his office for a rewrite and back to my pharmacy to get it filled, I was in horrendous pain. This was the first tick against him. I went in about a couple weeks later to have a follow up to check on how my mouth was healing. At this point he began what I can only describe as the most narcissistic manipulation I have ever experienced from a medical professional. He told me that although my teeth were very healthy, they were not very attractive and that someone who works in entertainment as I do would absolutely require veneers. He went so far as to have his assistant bring in several fashion magazines and he pointed out how everyone had the same perfect smile that I am lacking. I told him that I actually love my smile and don't believe there is anything wrong with it and that I am not booked for my teeth. I'm booked for my skills. Seeming frustrated that I was not allowing his manipulation to make me insecure, the smile dropped from his face and he said (verbatim),"Well, perhaps you would make more money if you actually had a nice smile. Don't you want to be more successful and make more money?" I then politely told him where to stick his assessment. My teeth are beautiful, healthy, and functioning just fine and I am not someone who will ever succumb to some greedy doctor's attempt to make me insecure. I will never return to his practice and have warned many about his sickening tactics to get more money out of people who do not need his cosmetic dentistry. read more

I have known danny since college. He use to be a nice compassionate guy. I referred everyone to him. THEN HE MOVED to a bigger office with more $$$. My how greed changes someone. He has become a control freak. His conservative approach is no longer. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST. He will suggest work you do not need but will make him $$$$$$. I have got 4 opinions on work he did for me that was terrible. I have gums that don't cover my teeth where he placed implants and crowns. My implant caused my surrounding teeth to be in jeopardy. He refused to correct the problem. He wanted to change a bridge that other DDS and MDs say I don't need. OK, so first off let me say: I don't like going to the dentist. ANY dentistry. This stems from a miserable dental life when I was a kid: numerous oral surgeries, braces for years, constant pain, just overall hated going. So I quit about 15 years ago. Just stopped, no cleanings, nothing. I mean, I floss and brush 2x every day, but to heck with the dentist. Figured I didn't need to go if there wasn't an emergency. Well, there was a problem last year; I had a cap on a rear molar fall out, and I *STILL* didn't go in until I actually cracked the remnants of that same tooth and ended up with a miserable toothache. My father and brother both go to Dr. Shiri and recommended him so I called up the office. Let's start with the administration. FANTASTIC. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they were able to link up with my insurance over the phone, got me scheduled really quickly, and best of all they send out text messages, emails, and automated voice messages to confirm the appointment and remind you when it is (you can opt-out of all that stuff if you want, of course). It's great for someone like me who isn't 100% on top of my calendar. Oh, yeah, they send calendar invites, too! Love it. Right, so on to the actual dental work. After 15 years, as you can imagine, I had a bunch of cavities (8!) as well as the missing cap. The staff worked with me to make sure that we spaced out the schedule, both for insurance and for my own comfort, and then I sat in Danny's chair and HOLY CRAP it was as easy as anything. He's great with the novacaine, I felt almost nothing; the appointments have gone quickly each time (yesterday was just under an hour for 3 cavities!) and my teeth feel great. Danny's chair-side manner is good, too, he's very easy to talk to and he kept me up-to-date with exactly what was going on in my mouth as he was going along so I didn't stress out too much. His assistants (I'm ashamed to say I don't remember their names) are great as well. I've got the cap replaced and all the cavities filled now, and I can't believe I'm about to say this but I'm not dreading going in for a cleaning in a few months. The only thing that's a little difficult about Dr. Shiri's office is the parking; there's basically no street parking and the underground garage isn't free. But hey, this is Los Angeles, it's sort of expected, so that doesn't impinge on my 5* review in the slightest; and honestly to get over my apprehension of going to the dentist and have a reasonable future of good dental health is totally worth it. read more

The cleaning was one of the most thorough I've ever experienced and Lila took the time to explain everything she was doing and the proper form of execution. Also, the gum massage was something I've never had before but now I consider it an absolute necessity. So relaxing! Don't be a sucker. Be aware if you're going here for Invisalign. If you DO commit, get everything the doctor promises in writing. Shiri is not a good Invisalign provider. He tells you exactly what you need to hear when taking your money but does not deliver on his promises. On my last appointment, I told Shiri how disappointed I was. He did not care and strong armed me into accepting the retainer EVENTHOUGH Invisalign has a policy of allowing corrections if user is not satisfied. Only reason I am giving this place two stars is because the cleanings are great. I've wasted $6k on Invisalign with Shiri. I'm working with another dentist now and he's confident we can do another round of Invisalign so the teeth's are symmetrical - something Shiri said was not possible. read more

I'm leaving this review as a potential customer. My husband called this office and left a message to see if they, perhaps, took our insurance. Our insurance company is apparently terrible and does not have an updated list (every dentist we have called from that list so far either has a 1 star rating on Yelp or does not take our insurance - so I figured what's the harm in calling dentists and checking?). I received a call back from the receptionist who was EXTREMELY condescending. Unnecessarily so. She even did the whole smug, "Mm, yea" thing from the Office Space movie. She explained how since I'm on a DMO I can only choose from the list, and therefore I'm out of luck. I understand how my insurance works. I understood it when I signed up for it. What I did not expect, was for the "list" of "dentists" to all be no longer taking my insurance. I would have signed up for the PPO if I had known that the "list" was actually "a list of people who do not take my insurance." Why did she need to be so condescending? Not only that, but I'm willing to pay CASH OUT OF POCKET in order to go to a good dentist. But now? No. This place will not be getting any of my money. read more

Dr. Shiri, his receptionists, and his hygienists are all super friendly and good at what they do. They're bold enough to tell you when you could be using better brushing techniques, but they always do it in a friendly way. Getting cavities is no problem because they drill with laser -- no painful novocaine! They also used laughing gas when I got my wisdom teeth pulled -- awesome! They're affordable even without insurance ($90 without x-rays, I believe), and they make every patient feel right at home. As far as dentists go, this is definitely as good as it gets. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Shiri off and on for the past 15 years or so. I stopped visiting his office when I considered it too far for me to continue seeing him. I first started seeing him when I worked in Hollywood and everyone in the office went to him. Between the time I left and I came back, I saw three or four other dentists through those years closer to my home. I even saw this young and really handsome dentist who was also a "dentist to the stars" in his other office in Beverly Hills and felt I couldn't trust him and his advice. After not being satisfied which each of those dentists, I went back to Dr. Shiri after I needed a dentist I can trust for a procedure I needed. Most people hate visiting the dentist, but for me, Dr. Shiri and team always make a visit to the dental office a pleasant experience once you walk into the office and greeted by the front desk. The office is clean and there's plenty of reading material. Dr. Shiri is a good listener and very gentle. They even offer "laughing gas" for my one more difficult procedure to make it a bit more tolerable. I felt drunk the whole time -- LOL. I highly recommend also a teeth cleaning with the woman who massages your gums (if she is still there). The most relaxing, luxe teeth cleaning I ever had! Depending on your dental insurance, you might have to pay a little extra for this. I usually don't have trouble finding street parking. Wonderful dentist and highly recommended! I have driven in traffic across Los Angeles to see him and it's worth it. read more

Even though I was getting a great service at a reduced cost, I was treated with the greatest respect as if I were an existing and well established client. Dr. Shiri was wonderful, taking the time to personally greet me and discuss my teeth. I felt like the technical and reception staff were wonderfully professional and skilled in their field. One thing I loved was how everything was explained to me before hand, as far as treatment goes. They even brought out a visual chart showing how the Zoom! whitening process would commence. Very good dentist and all the staff are very nice and know you by name. Dr. Shiri hones right in on what your dental problems are and does a good job of explaining including showing photos. He is very attentive, knowledgeable, and thorough in a gentle way. You can ask him any questions and get answers. I've had experience where other dentists I've been to that overlook what you really need. The hygienist gives one of the best teeth cleaning's around. I had a great experience here. The staff are super friendly and professional. The office is clean and modern. Dr. Shiri was super nice. We came here to get our teeth whitened with Zoom. Dr. Shiri checked out my teeth and said that they need to be cleaned first, so we did. It was the BEST cleaning I have ever had. They used an ultrasonic cleaning tool (I live in Hawaii so I've never had ultrasonic before.. it really gets off all the tartar). The Zoom went smoothly. My wife was telling me horror stories about people who get their gums burned, etc. But they protected my gums pretty well, so that wasn't an issue. I DID have some teeth sensitivity afterwards (sharp, shooting pains) but that went away after a couple of days. Because I'm from Hawaii, the staff wasn't sure if they could take my insurance. So I paid cash for my cleaning. To my surprise, they called me several months later and said that they were able to get reimbursed and as such, they credited me back for my payment. Awesome! They follow through and they are honest. What more can you ask for? read more

I purchased a voucher off of a Daily Deal site a while ago for Zoom whitening. I am new(er) to CA and needed a dentist close to my office. I had not been to the dentist in 3+ years......so needless to say I was petrified-- my teeth are super sensitive from overbrushing and I was nervous that the Zoom would really hit the painful parts. I expressed this to the staff, literally all of the staff, to make sure that I was not going to leave in pain. I scheduled an exam and cleaning before the Zoom to check for cavities and look at my older fillings-- the cleaning went smooth and the staff was awesome. She stopped every so often to make sure I was okay with it and there was no pain. Dr. Shiri came in and then performed the exam....I knew I had a few cavities and probably needed some fillings replaced. And...his exam confirmed that. What's pretty cool is that (and maybe I am just old school) they only use the white fillings so you cant see them. We decided to break up the whitening to a second visit and just do the fillings at this time. I did ask to be sedated during the fillings and even stopped a few times to take a break- Dr. Shiri was super cool with everything and I will definitely be coming back!! read more

I came into this office for a Zoom Teeth Whitening appointment. Parking was OK, I circled the block twice before getting lucky with a spot on an adjacent street to San Vicente. Dr. Shiri gives you a short examination of your teeth prior to your Zoom whitening treatment. When I made the appointment initially, the office recommended that you have already had your cleaning and are up to date with your dental appointments. After hearing this, I made an appointment for my cleaning to be pretty close to my whitening appointment date. The staff was friendly and the office was nice. I was satisfied with my treatment so much that I purchased the treatment for my fiancé, and I have recommended my sister and friends who have already made their appointments for whitening too. I should mention that Zoom Whitening does cause some sensitivity, possibly during treatment or a day or two after. In my experience, the slight sensitivity I experienced after my visit was normal and worth it! I look forward to coming back to this office again for more treatments. I'm a big baby when it comes to dentists and I have really soft teeth. Not a good combination, but having Dr Shiri as my dentist makes it all OK. When I first started seeing him 7 years ago ('05!!!) I was petrified of dental treatment. Exams, cleanings, all of it. His staff communicated with me and worked with me and did not treat me like I was stupid for being so fearful. Now going to the dentist is a treat, and I do not mind flying halfway across the great state of California to get treatment. All of his staff are long term, and he has been seeing some patients for twice as long as we've been acquainted. That speaks volumes to me. Unfortunately, my overall experience at Dr. Shiri's office was bad. With that being said, Dr. Shiri was an extremely kind man and gave me great advice that any other dentist would provide on your visits with them. The front desk staff were very welcoming. What made it a poor experience was working with their billing department. I set up a billing installment plan to pay for my bleach trays. Because they were so accommodating in letting me pay in installments, I was truly grateful. Unfortunately, it was not so seamless. I asked to pay on the 1st of the month for the next 4 consecutive months. Instead I was getting charged every other month or every two months on random dates (not the 1st of the month.) When calling to clarify why I was getting charged at dates that I didn't agree on, the woman who works billing was so incredibly rude! I think her name was Anna. She had attitude and sarcasm in her voice. She would ask questions like "So... you're telling me you want to be refunded or what?" or repeatedly saying "You agreed upon the dates that we charged" even though that was not the case. I've never received customer service like this. She was unprofessional and could not follow through on the agreement that I signed upon.  Because of the last impression that Anna left, I have no interest in returning to Dr. Shiri's office. (Also - there is street parking, and a parking structure. They do not validate parking for the structure of the building they're in. It ended up costing me $20 to park there.) read more

I was referred to Dr. Shiri for a consult regarding Invisalign. I decided to have Dr. Shiri make an Invisalign for my teeth. In addition, he arranged for me to do the at-home teeth whitening. I am very pleased with both the whitening and the Invisalign. Dr. Shiri is pleasant, kind, competent and astute. He also was able to clearly explain how my teeth were interfacing with each other to impact my bite which helps me in making future decisions about other possible tooth appliances. I went (more like ran) to Dr Shiri after a ridiculous estimation with Dr. Delmont (where they told me I needed over $3,000 worth of work done- including two crowns... umm wtf? Hell. No.) Everything about that "show" of a dentistry was just a bunch of BS- I knew I only needed a few fillings from a recent exam. BEWARE of Dr. Delmont! Dr. Shiri right away felt like someone I could trust. He wasn't in-your-face flamboyantly persuasive like Delmont. He was no bullshit and strait forward- exactly what I appreciate in a doctor. Long story short- He told me I only needed to fill a fraction of what Delmont told me, corrected some terrible work that had been done by my previous dentist, and did by far the best dental work anyone has ever done in my entire life. The staff is also the best I have come across. Everyone at Shiri's office treated me very well- so well I felt almost as if I were at a spa. When I felt cold, they brought me a blanket AND a little personal heater. They put carmex on my lips when they were getting dry, and let me put in headphones and listen to music while they worked on my teeth. In down time I sat around and joked and chatted with the staff as if we were family. Needless to say, I had a great experience (both times) and will definitely be returning for future cleanings and check-ups. read more
