Danny is one heck of a guy! He's gotten me out of several jams with my old pickup I use for hauling compost and other garden projects. Honestly, he knows just what to do to keep my 2000 Ford Ranger on the road without paying an arm and a leg. I'll admit, a few of his hacks made me smile... but it keeps me from having to buy a new truck that will just sit in my garage 9 months a year. Danny does an extremely high volume of repairs through his garage, and I'm always shocked by how quickly he gets the job done. And there's no messing around with letting your vehicle sit idly once it's repaired. Get in/get out. That seems to be Danny's motto. Otherwise you might get an annoyed phone call letting you know you've got 45 minutes to get your car out of his lot. Danny's great and I highly recommend his garage. Sadly, I have to update my review of Danny's Auto Repair. The last couple of times I took my car to Danny he was working alone and seemed to be overbooked in terms of customers. He had been telling me for over a year that I needed to get a full brake job, including all new rotors. I tried calling him a few times in the last week, but he was always busy and his phone manner leaves a bit to be desired. So I decided to get a second opinion, and took my car to The Brake Shop in Vancouver (please read my review of them). Luke at the Brake Shop took a look at my brakes and told me that I still had at least 8-10K more miles left before I needed brakes, and even then he said he could easily turn the front brakes, saving me from having to buy new rotors. His price was also less than what Danny had quoted me. So due the combination of location, Danny's shop is in a perilous section of Sandy Blvd, the fact that he seems to be working alone now and is somewhat overbooked, and his brake recommendation didn't match my actual situation, I won't be returning. read more

I've used Danny for the last few years or so. All seemed well in the beginning, but I know he is not doing the work he says he is - especially these days. I went in for fluid changes before winter then had to take my car to another auto mechanic unexpectedly the next day. It was obvious that nothing was done, so I paid the new mechanic to get it done. Knowing what I know now about my car, Danny has had my car for too short of time to have been doing all the work he claimed. Perhaps sometimes he does the right thing, but I no longer trust him. I have done business with DAR based on a recommendation and found the service to be honest and reliable. I was in the process of choosing DAR as my go-to mechanic, but unfortunately mistakes were made during a tune-up that affected my vehicle at a later date. I took my vehicle back to DAR, but they found no problems, claimed it was bad gasoline and billed me for the time. Danny was amazing. I got here around 5pm, and even though they close at 6, he accepted my car when other places would have said no. He saw I had a faulty battery and then INSTANTLY jumped into his OWN truck and then picked up a battery. Had me out with an hour. This place does good work for an affordable price if you can actually get in. The problem is that most times they just turn away business. Even more frustrating, on 3 different occasions I've called ahead and been told I could bring my vehicle in only to arrive and be told that they have no time to work on my vehicle. It's like they don't even take appointments, I have no idea how a shop runs like this. Also, Google says they open at 8, but no one is ever there until closer to 9am. This shop is in my neighborhood and I have tried to support it, but I can no longer waste my time hoping they might be able to get my work done. This shop never lets me down. This is an honest, reliable auto mechanic who I highly recommend. He isn't always the cheapest, but is not over priced and is VERY FAIR. His labor prices are very reasonable. For stuff like breaks you might find the job cheaper else where, but the parts aren't quality parts. So when I say he isnt the cheapest, its because he only puts parts in your car he knows will last you. For the quality and service you get, the price is more than reasonable. For instance, my timing belt just snapped on the freeway. It costs me $750 to get fixed, I got the timing belt replaced, water pump and shaft replaced, all engine seals, oil change, tranny fluid added, coolant replaced, new crank shaft. Oil change was something he threw in for free knowing I was on a tight budget but obviously needing it done. He is a great mechanic, and I am so glad I found him. Ive used him for almost 3 years now and REFUSE to go else where. He even told me when I bought a bad car, when he couldve taken advantage of it. He is just phenomenal. From our conversations upon my visits I also know he continues his education on cars. They work on ALL CARS there. This is the mechanic people wish and hope for, but never find. He seems to do a job that just barely gets the job done. In addition, it takes several days or even a week at least to get the job done. I've never heard of it taking this amount of time elsewhere. Had very high hopes for this shop as the reviews here made this shop look promising. Sadly this was not the case. I went in to get my car ready for DEQ, however Danny pushed the sale of an unnecessary oil change and tuning a mass air flow sensor that as soon as I left his shop I had to replace. I work at jiffy lube and shortly after my visit to Danny's our in house ASE mechanic pointed out that there were no visible signs that any work had been done on the car and if even a visual inspection had been done they would have noticed that my catalytic converter was significantly damaged along with an fairly constant oil leak. I have never (repeat, NEVER) trusted any mechanic like I do Danny. I've always done my own DIY investigating into my car problems, including pulling my own codes. I've had Danny confirm everything that I've ascertained on my own and has charged me such a nominal amount, I can't even comprehend how he makes a profit. He never overcharges for parts or labor. He is unbelievably fair and in addition, he has gotten even the most complicated repairs done in one day or less.
