Visited Danny's Pizza on a recommendation from a neighbor. The restaurant was easy to find and had business so I thought, so far so good. Ordered my favorite ham and pineapple with a thin crust and sat down to wait. The experience was amazing as I learned it's a family owned business and I met several of the family members while waiting. The music kept me entertained as my conversations with the family. The pizza arrived and it was all I dreamed of. The crust was perfect, incredible sauce and plenty of toppings. What I noticed was there was no greasy runoff like I have experienced with other pizzas. This will be my go to for pizza, either by the slice or the whole pie. read more

I really wanted to give this place a good review, however I went with my family the other night and it was inedible. We got the veggielicous pizza and the Meatball calzone. The problems with the veggie pizza were 1 the spinach wasn't washed 2 they used canned mushrooms 3 the sauce had no flavor And 4 the bell peppers were sour While the calzone 1 had way to much ricotta 2 was soggy And 3 again the sauce had no flavor While the food was terrible the service was ehh, both cashiers were ignoring me while I was waiting and just chitchatting with their coworkers. The only nice thing about this place was the theming, it was very New York, with cute subway signs and pictures. I have high standards for Italian restaurants and pizza joints. This place meets them. We stopped by twice during our trip and were please both times. Place is small with a few tables for sit-down and seems to do a good deal of takeout (best way to describe the scene is organized chaos). Pizza, pasta, and entrees were all delicious, and portions were large. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was that they seem to use the same pizza sauce on the side pasta dishes (sauce is overly flavored/doctored up for pasta). read more

My first review of 2024 and glad to say it is a good one! We moved to Surfside Beach SC this past September from Boston. Searched for two things, good Chinese and god Pizza. I'm originally from New York and am used to great food. My pizza standard is Sally's and Frank Pepe in New Haven. Here in SC we have been searching and have not found Chinese food yet and only passable pizza... until now. Danny's in Murrells Inlet may not be Sally's or John's of Bleeker St but it is certainly a legitimate pizza joint. I called last yesterday to see if they deliver and since it was early they agreed to deliver to my house which is at least a mile outside of their delivery zone. A great start. Let me add that the youne lady who answered the phone was very professional and exceedingly pleasant, thats a great way to start! Ordered an antipasto salad, fried calamari, a regular cheese pie (well done), and a grandma pie. While waiting for everyone to arrive i ate the calamari (I'm the only one who eats it) and my comment was that if the pizza is half as good as the calamari and fantastic sauce, we were in for a treat. Calamari was cooked just right and note that it was in the closed container for probably 20-30 minutes, the marinara for dipping had a nice thick consistency and the flavor was awesome with just enough spice and tang. The antipasto salad was nice but nothing to rave about but one thing that I loved was that they use Kalamata olives instead of the usual canned black olives and the tomatoes where fresh and bright red, nicely sweet. Now the main event. The grandma pie, square like a Sicilian but with mozzarella under the sauce, was nicely soft but by far the best thing to say is that the sauce was absolutely spot on. It had a nice tartness to it, just the right amount of spice. This should be their go to sauce. The regular pie was nice, no flop at all, very nicely charred undercarriage (definitely order it well done) and a very nice crisp even after being in the box for a while. The sauce was different from the grandma, less character but still quite good. That grandma sauce on this pie would have put it on another level. I struggle with the score, very good, 7.9? Could be an 8.1 with the other sauce easily. Either way, go here, it may be worth a 30-45 minute drive depending on what is available to you. If you dont have anything decent close to you, get in your car drive here, you will not be disappointed at all. Can't wait to try some of their other offerings. read more

Fuggedaboutit - Best pizza I have had since moving here from Portland, OR although from NYC. Portland now has some of the best pizza in the country, and everyone knows NYC doesn't produce a bad slice. Danny does NYC justice for sure. I love their marinara sauce. It's a perfect combination of tomatoes and spices. You have to try the rice balls. One is enough for two people. Stromboli's are perfection. I have ordered the pepperoni and sausage and both good and great sizes. The pizza is killer. NY slice that you can fold over. Love the owner. A nice young man who obviously takes pride in what he does. Also other FOH staff are very sweet, let you know if your food will take a few minutes and the place is always full of NY transplants. read more

I put in an order for eggplant rolintini and shrimp scampi, all spaghetti. I called the owner to put in a complaint, he hung up on me and refused to talk to me. I will never order from someone who won't even have a conversation. He owns a business next to Seasons and supposedly does well. With his attitude and hang up you have lost my business and will spread the word. Not a very good owner or to try to make things right. Dwindling food quality. I have eaten here many times when Dannys first opened and loved the eggplant subs. I came in the other day and ordered a pizza, and it was absolutely flavorless and exponentially unenjoyable. It was soggy, floppy and barely had any sauce - very disapointing. I also had a hair on my pizza. The atmosphere is a mess... everything looks dirty - from the floors, to the napkin dispensers. The chairs are cracking badly & in desperate need of replacement, everything looks extremely lack luster. Not a good look. The worst part above all was the unappetizing flavorless food. Needs improvement ASAP, especially because of where it is located. read more
