    Supposed to chicken strips.

Danny's used to have really good chicken strips. They were thick and cooked perfect. Now you spend $19.60 and get these pencil sized strips, nothing but fried flour, and so overcooked, you cannot chew them. When I got home yesterday, I called the store. The young man who waited on me at the drive-through was very polite. He took down my name and said he would present it to the manager. I put them in the refrigerator to take back today just so management could see the order themselves. However, I'm not wasting my time or my gas to go back. They have lost a very good customer.

Fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans and a roll.

The food was good BUT they didn't get my order right and the Fried Chicken had a greasy taste to it. Green beans were good as well as the mashed potatoes. Macaroni and cheese was mushy and had very little flavor. Waitress was very nice and the price was reasonable. I'd give it a C plus at best.

Danny's was a childhood favorite of mine. I now live 1000 miles away and it's the first and last place I eat when I go back home. Plenti pack and fried mushrooms all day long for me. Mouth watering. Maybe it's the nostalgia for me, but nothing else has compared. I can taste the special sauce just thinking about it. I don't mind slow service for fresh food and a smile. I'd wait hours. Sure the building could use updating, but in a world full of the newest and greatest, I'll take this place as is any old day. Four stars only because they can't ship it across the country to me

The chicken strips are awesome! The service is horribly slow. Worse than it ever was.

Hominy, hush puppies, cornbread, grits, Alabama white sauce on any meat, especially smoked chicken, are all popular in Alabama. BBQ is practically a religion in the South! As former certified Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) certified judges, my husband and I completed the training and paid the fees to be certified. The "KCBS way" is different from a lot of people's preferences in that, for example, a BBQ rib should actually have some "pull" to it, meaning, when you bite into it, your mouth should leave a mark in the rib. This means "fall off the bones" ribs are not KDBS quality, despite how many love that rib consistency. The KCBS judges slots fill up so quickly and required us to travel at our own cost and we did not judge any KCBS events. Back to Southern food. Deep fried double Oreos are one of the many fried foods here in Huntsville, and Melt restaurant features them on their menu. Meat-and-Three restaurants feature a meat (usually fried pork chop, meatloaf, BBQ, fried catfish, country fried steak/chicken) and three sides (fried okra, creamed corn, mashed potatoes and gravy, baked potato, potato salad, cole slaw, French fries) and bread options such as cornbread, rolls, hush puppies. While Southern Cooking is absolutely delicious, I have to limit it because lets face it, it is high in calories and cholesterol. When I do indulge, it's shrimp and grits, pimento cheese, fried green tomatoes, and fried whole okra.

One interesting thing is that while it is all you can eat, they serve it cafeteria style. So you tell them what you want and they put it on the plate. This must have changed since COVID. You used to be able to serve yourself. The food is good, but it taste like someone is cooking scared. Nothing had any seasoning. Nothing popped with flavor. No smoke on the pulled pork (I got outside meat to be able to taste it) Bland spaghetti, bland chicken and dumplings, bland greens, bland, bland, bland - except for the fried chicken and fried fish which were okay, compared to the rest. Service was not overly friendly, or even friendly either. Pretty much here's your seat, here's your drink. I would probably come back one more time. Definitely will not come back if the next time is like this time. 2 1-2 stars is what I would give it. Rounding up to 3 in memory of a place that used to be a lot better.

Visiting Foley from out of state, we brought my MIL out for lunch here. Before visiting, I called…read moreto inquire about handicap access because she has breathing issues and is easily winded even with her portable oxygen. I was told there were several handicap accessible entrances including the atrium in the front. We parked on the street in front of the atrium and entered through those doors. My MIL told the hostess that she couldn't walk too far because of her breathing issues and the hostess said that was no problem. However, for an older person with mobility and breathing issues the distance between reception and the dining area was significant, and we paused once for her to catch her breath. We were seated at the table closest to the door, which was preferable, and our waitress stopped at the table within a short period of time. My MIL asked if the restaurant serves alcohol, and the waitress said they could get her anything she wanted. She ordered a Pinot Grigio, and I asked if the restaurant has decaf espresso. She said no, so I said that I would still like an espresso martini even if it was caffeinated. She said they don't have espresso martinis. I asked her to take my husband's drink order and come back to me, and I ordered the same wine as my MIL for simplicity's sake. We also ordered two apps at the same time. The dining room was sufficiently busy with what appeared to be only two waitresses. She returned with our drinks promptly and took our entree orders, including my MIL's request for two beignets to go. She returned with appetizers in a decent amount of time, at which time I feel like things took a turn for the worse after the waitress was making room for the food and spilled my husband's water and ice onto the table. We took two of our cloth napkins and tried to stop the water from dripping into my MIL's lap, and the waitress said she was having a "Monday on a Tuesday." Look, we all have had that type of day, but the customer should still receive proper attention, which we did not. We asked for more napkins to replace the wet ones, we never got them. I flagged down the other waitress and asked for napkins, and she also ignored our request. My husband ended up taking two place settings off a nearby table after it was clear that no one was bringing them. Our waitress never asked how our food was, never refilled our water and we sat for quite a while after finishing our food before she stopped by again. We had been in the restaurant for an extended period of time at this point, and my MIL's oxygen machine started to run low. We got the waitress' attention and explained the situation, asking for the check and to ring us up so she could head out. My MIL reminded her that we had ordered the desserts to go and she said she remembered. The bill came, the credit card was run, and my MIL gave her a cash tip. Then we waited. And waited. And waited for the to go desserts. The waitress passed by several times knowing that we told her we needed to go as soon as possible. I suggested that my husband help her to the car since it was a bit of a walk in her condition and I would wait for the dessert. Ten more minutes after they walked out went by, and the dessert still hadn't come out. My husband tried to call me to say we needed to get going but there isn't any cell phone reception and no available Wi-Fi so he left her in the vehicle to come get me so we could bring my MIL home due to the oxygen issue. We returned to pick up the dessert shortly after bringing her home. She had asked for two orders when we placed the order, and when I was handed the container it was a single beignet. As I said, people have bad days and I get it. Today's experience was less than 5 stars, and my MIL still tipped well. Her steak was excellent, our salmon and oysters were decent but not outstanding. The potato salad tasted similar to store bought although I assume it was made in house. Given the totality of our visit, 3 stars seems appropriate. My MIL said she would try them again, so if that happens I will be sure to update the review.
