I took my 1992 dodge Dakota here for a coolant leak fix and a brake proportion valve replacement. The coolant leak was okay until about a week ago when I started noticing another coolant leak. It's near the water pump that they (Danny's Truck & Auto) put in and replaced. I also noticed a small oil leak as well. they couldn't find the brake proportion valve but when I looked on YouTube there's a GM part that could fit the same on my truck. On top of all that I paid $2000 for a coolant leak and a brake job that wasn't even done. I paid all of that for nothing. Take your car or truck elsewhere that can actually fix a leak, and not cause more. read more

Yesterday I brought in a simple repair. I was told specifically, I'll do it first thing in the morning. I made plans for the day based on Adam's commitment. When I arrived at 11am I was told it was not done and the only time frame offered was "later." At 1, I called and I was told "I'll try to get to it." At 3:00 I received the call that it was ready. When I picked is up, no comment about the delay, no apology. It would be one thing if they had started it as promised and had problems, but this was ATROCIOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE. I will never be back. The second time I needed a rear main seal and oil pan gasket on my Jeep TJ. Brooke who works in the office is always friendly and helpful. The guys in the shop also took the time to listen to my concerns and share helpful tips for the future. Poor customer service. STAY AWAY (1st) off beware that you will be charged $30 for any diagnostic...found this out after receiving a quote for the work, and had to request that if I had the service done at their shop to have the diagnostic charge credited towards the labor cost (usually done automatically at most auto shops). (2nd) Labor is $100 hr. (you can definitely find it cheaper with quality work in Ramona. (3rd) Dropped off my vehicle at 0800 for a work estimate of three hours. I called them at 2:15pm to see if I could collect my vehicle only to find out that they "might be able to start the work in about 15 minutes" but assured me that it would be done by the time they close. So I'm understandably miffed at this point having been vehicle-less all day. My response from Brooke is "I'm sorry I didn't know you needed it by a certain time". A discount on labor seemed like a solution to keep the customer happy and secure a new client for years to come. They opted for me to either pay full price or pick it up. Short story long, $30, 6 hours and 15 minutes later, and without any fix to my problem I am picking up my vehicle going to find a decent shop with a better work ethic. Dannys has worked on my family's vehicles for about 10 years. If I need new windshield washers, or to have an icon cleared from my dash screen, they will usually make time to assist me. They have been very flexible with scheduling, also. Most important is that they do good work. I went in there today just to get a quick quote on doing exhaust on my Bronco. The office lady started off nice but it became very clear that they didn't want my business. She repeatedly told me how busy they were and that she wasn't going to have Danny give me a quote. She stated that I needed an appointment even to get a quote at their shop. I've never heard of such a thing! I am a business consultant for a Fortune 500 company and I would be blown away if one of my clients treated a potential customer this way. I was trying to support my local businesses but I obviously was bothering them and she made it clear as she loudly told Danny that she told me he was busy. I drove to Escondido and Masters Exhaust not only gave me a quick quote, they had me drop it off and they did it same day. Danny could learn from them around customer service. read more

DO NOT HAVE A CUSTOM EXHAUST SYSTEM INSTALLED BY THIS COMPANY! I took my classic pickup truck (automatic transmission, column shift) here to have a custom exhaust system installed, at the recommendation of a friend of mine, who had two systems installed by them on his cars. Well reviewed by my buddy on both setups. I brought my truck in, and they completed the work in good time. No issues...at this time. When I picked up the truck, I asked about a possible military discount (never hurts to), and they gave me one (definitely a positive, but...). I drove the truck home, with no issues. A few weeks later, I attempted to shift my truck manually into 2nd and 1st. It would not go past Drive! Turns out, the exhaust system they installed was blocking the full travel of the auto-trans shifter! (I did not check the travel of the shifter when I first picked up the truck because there shouldn't have been a reason for me to do so!) I was rather disappointed at this point, but not upset. Mistakes can happen, but you would think a business that does custom exhaust systems would make sure that all moving parts would not be interfered with by the exhaust they install. I contacted them and spoke with their receptionist, told her the issue, and asked when I could bring it by to be fixed. She was very nice, and told me I could bring it by the next day. I did so, and continued my day. About 2 hours later, they called me and said they had it up on the lift, and had fixed the problem...BY BENDING THE SHIFTER ARM ON THE TRANSMISSION SO IT WOULD CLEAR THE EXHAUST!!! My response, "YOU DID WHAT?!!!!!!!" At this point, I was infuriated. I just had this transmission rebuilt, and parts for this 40+ year old transmission are not easy to find (especially the shifter arm!). I ordered them to return the transmission to the condition it was in when I dropped it off, and to fix the exhaust. The next day, I called to ask about the status of my truck. The receptionist said it was ready for pickup. When I arrived, I checked out the repair...or lack thereof. Instead of correcting the exhaust (by cutting off the section that is blocking the shifter lever, and installing new tubing to clear the shifter lever), THEY HAMMERED THE EXHAUST THE BRAND NEW EXHAUST SO THE SHIFTER LEVER WOULD CLEAR!!!! That was it; I was done. Three strikes: 1) screwed up the initial installation, 2) bent my transmission shifter instead of fix the exhaust, 3) damaged the exhaust they installed, and I paid for! I got my keys and left. So, for $423, I got a "custom" exhaust system that went from a professional install to an unprofessional repair. The positives of a nice receptionist, and a military discount still do not warrant greater than a single star rating. I do not, nor will I ever, recommend this company. If you decide to have a custom exhaust installed by this company, even after reading this post, you have been warned. read more

I took my Silverado in for a a/c repair. The problem had already been diagnosed. It was the fan control resister. A $70 part they charged me $219 for the part big mark up! So the total was $320 very unethical business. I would not recommend them at all. They will fix it but they cheat you out of money. But they will be nice as they cheat you so if that's what counts to you go there! read more

I have been going to Danny's exclusively for the past year. The first time I went, I was impressed with the mechanics -- even the young ones -- because they were competent, friendly, and happy. A worker who likes his job has a good employer! I went in today thinking I needed pricey a pricey repair and was told that it's not urgent, and if I wait I can save money. Who does that? All 4 of my vehicles, from the near-antique Motorhome to the Roadmaster with 300K miles - all always get maintained at Danny's - so if you like your car and want it to 'run forever' ~~~~~~. Took my 2014 Honda in for an oil change. They checked my battery and fluids.Two days later my battery died and I discoverd I had no transmission fluid! I called them first thing Monday AM and spoke with a very pleasant lady. She was very apologetic and was going to pass the information on to the mechanic. I have gone here for nearly 20 years. They are kind, friendly. When there is a problem they are fast to say "go here they can get the part for less" although in 20 years that has happened 2x, they usually beat everyone else. They have also been the first to tell my husband "it is time to buy her a new car...we love the business but you can pay us and have her in an unreliable car...or buy a new one for less." They are always honest and break things out in to "DO NOW!" or "this can wait a few pay days" or "plan for this in the next year.
