We stopped in for lunch today. Not particularly hungry we ordered a small cheese pizza. They brought us a couple complimentary slices while we waited. We must have hit them just past the lunch crowd. The pizza was delicious with a perfect balance of sauce to cheese. The crust was light and tasty. A perfect handle to deliver this treat to my mouth. We live in Haverhill and visit a number of other places around town. We will definitely be making the trip again. I also enjoy subs and I'm looking forward to trying the rest of their menu. I've heard good things about this place so I finally stopped in to try it out. I had a large Italian sub it was enormous, fresh full of Italian cold cuts. There were a couple of young guys working the counter and they were so courteous and willing to help. This is so refreshing to see in today's world. I'm so saddened to have to write this review. My family and I have been long time customers of Dano's. I loved their pizza, my husband loved the gyros, my mom loved the manicotti. We haven't been in for a few months, as the summer was busy for us and we weren't going out to eat often. Now, it looks as though there's been a large staff change, and the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. We ordered, and paid, online. The page said our order should be ready in 10-15 minutes. It takes about 10 minutes to drive there from Haverhill. My aunt and I walked in. No one greeted us so I approached the counter and announced I was picking up a paid order and gave my name. The girl at the counter printed my receipt which I signed, and was told it would be a few minutes. A few minutes turned into nearly a half hour, during which time we watched no less than eight people come in, give their name, and leave with their food. And still, we waited. The counter girl then leaned forward to ask if we'd been helped yet. My aunt said no!, and I said that we will still waiting for our food. I had to repeat the entire order to her, as she tried to piece together our order from the mess of boxes and bags that were on the counter. The manager/owner(?) pointed to the side where our entire order was sitting. Then the counter girl began to ring it up. I had to stop her as I'd already paid, and signed the receipt when we first got there. Getting to my car, we checked the bags and boxes, ensuring that everything was there. It was all accounted for, however my small extra cheese and mushroom pizza was burnt beyond recognition. I refused to return to the restaurant to ask for then to remake my pizza because I honestly didn't want to wait another half hour for them to fix the problem, plus my family's food would have been ice cold by then. Again, we USED to love Dano's. With today's experience, we won't step foot in there again, and I'll be passing along our story to anyone who mentions the place. Seriously sad to have to say goodbye, but there is much better food, and service, closer to home. read more

I was at Home Depot down Rt 125 and I had to pick up some pizzas for the work crew. I called in while on the road. while not ever having seeing a menu- the order taker did a fine job answering all of my questions and inquirys. Ordered 2 large pizzas, buffalo chicken strips, and it all came out piping hot and delicious. They even gave us a free small cheese pizza which was a nice surprise. I am a fan! read more

I stopped by this place the other day on a whim and decided to try their food. They had a Gyro on the menu, which immediately means I'm going to order it. The gyro was cooked on a flat top and had a very nice sear to it. It was just missing a touch of salt and pepper. The tzatziki sauce was amazing. I could taste all the subtle notes as they melded together with the pita and the remaining sandwich ingredients. I also ordered the jalapeno poppers. They were filled with cream cheese and had a nice, light coating on the outside. I enjoyed the balance of the heat from the pepper and the cool from the cream cheese. Good food, an excellent staff and affordable prices make this place a perfect place for take out any night of the week. read more

I had gone to Dano's since I was a kid and then throughout my adult life. I can not ever remember a bad experience until tonight. It has been awhile since I had got Danos and figured we would get it. Simple order really. Small cheese pizza, chicken Caesar salad with Caesar dressing, and a steak bomb with egg. Drove 25 minutes home and then we found the debacle. No dressing of any type for the salad. The cheese for the pizza was grainy and pasty. And the worst part, absolutely no steak in the steak bomb. And I don't mean just a little. I mean absolutely none. Called to complain and was told he would make another sub. I told him I was not going to drive 50 mins round trip. Didn't offer to put it back on my card for credit. I can't even believe what poor service we just experienced. My husband and I have friends over and decided to order for all of us. We waited approx an hour before all of us realized how hungry we were, and wondered when the hell the food was going to arrive. When we got someone on the phone they lied about having tried to deliver, saying they banged on our door? This never happened, otherwise my dog would have gone crazy. They said they would return, and we reluctantly agreed to wait. Another half hour passes and we still have no dinner! We call and cancel the order, and then minutes later recieve a phone call from the manager arguing with us that we'd have to pay. Absolutely ridiculous. I've been going to Dano's for decades at this point. But, no more... This experience was so poor, I had to create a yelp account and leave a review. I only rate them one star simply because I cannot go lower. Tonight I ordered food from them for delivery. About an hour and a half later, still didn't have food. Went to go to call them back, and realized I had missed calls from Danos -- phone was accidentally on silent. Called them back, they said the driver was "pounding on the door" and tried calling me. Well, okay sure, my phone was on silent. But, I was literally sitting next to my front door, nobody came to it - NOR DID MY DOG BARK. This dog barks at his own shadow..... Nobody came to my house. So they had the driver come back out. 30 minutes later, still no driver. I call to cancel the order, and the dude on the phone will not let me cancel and said the driver was on his way. I'm fed up at this point, and when the driver shows up, I reject the food and send him on his way. 10 minutes later, Dano's calls me back and the manager is SCREAMING at me and blaming me. When I reminded him that if his driver went to the correct house THE FIRST TIME (which, by the way, my house is VERY easy to find and the house number is clearly marked), he wouldn't have tried to call me a million times. Part of my job is customer service. I would NEVER talk to a client or customer in the manner this manager spoke to me. He was completely unwilling to accept that his driver did not go to the correct house, and threatened to charge my card anyway before hanging up. I WILL be disputing this will my bank, and Dano's will never receive another cent from me. Which sucks, because it's a place I've been going to since I was a young kid. read more

We eat here when im visitng family. They have big portions for some things. A burger plate...you get 2 burgers and a bunch of fries. We got a side of onion rings and it was huge. The food is reasonably priced, delivery was quick, and it arrived hot and fresh. Quality-wise the sub I got (chicken parm) isn't the best I've had, but for the price it's pretty decent! We used to love Danos. First pizza we ever ate when we moved here. Unfortunately they cannot take an order. I have ordered chicken Cesar wraps there forever, but for over a year now they cannot understand that I want no cheese on it. Today was the third time and when I called about it they said it was not ordered that way and it was not their fault. They would not credit me my sandwich. Started arguing with me. Haven't tried the pizza but everything else we've had has been consistently fresh and tasty. Husband loves the Gyro dinner. I like the chicken tenders or Greek salad - really generous big pieces of Feta. French fries are great. Dinners are generous sizes and come with pocket bread and the tastiest little side salad - love the dressing. You can order online for delivery. I ordered a chicken kabob dinner online and skipped the fries, they called seconds later to see if I wanted a substitute, when I didn't they adjusted my total down which I thought was pretty awesome. We eat here fairly regularly. All the salads are great, but our favorites are the Greek and seafood salad. Their feta is delicious and portions are generous. The subs are HUGE and a large usually means leftovers. Our favorite wrap is the chicken Caesar. It's the best anywhere and also overstuffed. Unfortunately, I dont have anything good to say. When ordering a calzone you expect to feed multiple people. Their calzone looked like a sandwich cut into 4 triangles. Food is always great at Danos, but we went today and the place is really getting dirty!! We had to ask to have the table washed off. We didn't use the salt and paper shakers because they were so dirty and covered in food! The childs booster seat was so dirty, I wouldn't put a dog in it. Your standard pizza and sub shop that does everything right with no frills. Hot , fresh pizza and giant overstuffed subs are a guarantee and I've never had a problem with an order. This is a good takeout pizza place. Calzones, subs, etc. are all good. The roast beef sub is surprisingly big and good, but it's really about the pizza. Recent office pizza favorites: green pepper and eggplant, or chicken and spinach. read more
