**CONSUMER BEWARE** After so many years of working with and giving my business to Dan (~17 years), it pains me to write this negative review. However, something has definitely changed with Dan - level of customer service, attentiveness, completeness - over the past couple of years, perhaps since COVID. The purpose of this review is to provide feedback to the Yelp community so that you can avoid falling victim to his declining business practices like I have. This last experience was extremely frustrating and it will be my last: after having set up an appointment 3 weeks in advance for a fairly standard transmission/drivetrain fluids service on my Gen 3 4runner, Dan sends a text - THE NIGHT BEFORE the appointment, simply "sorry, can't do your service tomorrow". Nothing else, no background on why, etc. Come to find out, Dan had dropped the ball and did not order the materials needed ahead of my service appointment. Pretty basic task! Even knowing that this fluid service was needed in advance of a long, 2k mi road trip I was about to take (in a 25 year old car), Dan offered zero apology and accepted no responsibility for the screw up. Wow, talk about customer service! When asked when the soonest the vehicle could come in for the service, with an almost with a "its your fault attitude", Dan stated it wouldn't be until after the new year. I pushed back a bit, reminding him of the situation (that he dropped the ball big time, forthcoming road trip, etc), he suggested for me to source the materials, and that if I could do that, he would make time for the fluids service in time for my trip. OK fine - seems like the least he could do. Despite spending 2+hrs of my time research the correct oils/fluids, sourcing them and finally procuring them, when calling Dan to schedule the "make-up" service, he completely (and belligerently) reneged. And in an obscenity-laden, nonchalant manner, told me that he couldn't do the service until after the new year and to go somewhere else. Incredible! I'm concerned that Dan may be back on drugs. But in the end, I'm more concerned for you the reader/consumer's safety and well being, should you make the wrong decision and allow dan to work on YOUR vehicle ...who knows what the outcome will be. Wow! Friendly, honest, quality work, at a good price. I visited Dan one afternoon when he had a packed schedule. I had a road trip in a week, so he worked hard to fit me in before I left. Hanging out in his shop while he worked was fun. Dan is knowledgeable and provides good advice/information, but more so, he's just a good dude who makes good conversation if you want it. I found Dan's Precision Alignment about 15 years ago when I needed an alignment for my Volvo. When my daughters started driving, their cars were older and had issues and he always helped with their issues with very fair prices and great work. With newer cars and a bit of luck we had not seen Dan for at least 5 or 6 years when the driver side window on my Volt failed to roll back up. I called a few auto glass places and got quotes before I thought to call Dan. His quote was the best and he was able to get the part and fix it the same day. After just having purchased a new set of tires (after 10 years with the original ones - too long), I decided to have a wheel alignment. After seeing the very positive yelp reviews and wanting to support local businesses, I decided to try Dan's Precision Alignment. I called Dan, and his earliest appointment available was 4 days, which I took, and he gave me a price up front. Very efficient and professional. Upon meeting Dan, I saw that he is basically a one-man operation. He does the work, he answers the phone, he takes the payment, he maintains the shop, etc. He is a VERY nice and friendly person, and seems very competent. His shop looks good. And, wheel alignment is his specialty. I felt good about leaving my car in his hands. Dan likes to schedule 1-2 hours for an alignment - mine took about an hour (my car was probably on the lesser side of needing work, so I wouldn't be surprised if some alignments took significantly more time). Upon getting the car, I was happy that Dan took some time to explain how he works and his principles of operation, and some of his background. Seems to be a very honest and no-nonsense type of person, which I appreciated. Finally, upon driving away, I was really impressed with how much smoother my car felt! While I noticed an improvement after having gotten new tires, I noticed a BIGGER improvement after the wheel alignment. Very satisfied with the wheel alignment, and I'm happy I had Dan do the work. I'll definitely return in case I ever need other work done. His good reviews are definitely well earned, and I'm happy to add mine to the list. read more

I have known Dan for about 3 years and he is the best kept secret in all of North County. He fixed my 1965 Mustang suspension when i received the wrong parts, he measured it correctly and i ordered the right parts that he put in. He aligned the car and removed all the noises old cars have. He fixed the steering on my 1975 Cheverolt K10 4 x 4 and made it tighter than it has ever been. Did the alignment and braking on my Ford F350 dually and dialed in the truck. He put new suspension in my 1994 Toyote Corolla and now it rides like new. When i have made appointments with Dan he is always punctual and on time and is very understanding of my expectations which is never in doubt. He is a great communicator and i trust him very much and highly recommend Dan as i have lived in San Diego for my entire life from Pacific Beach, to Kennsington, El Cajon Blvd to Clairemont where i was born in 1961. Dan is the man. When i bought my truck used it was a bit off when I drove it. I changed a few things such as the suspension and tires and it was a little better, But it still had a bit of a wobble. Dan took his time and found out both the camber and toe were off on all 4 tires. The truck is perfect and drives like new. Instead of sending me to another shop, Dan located the parts I needed and did a same day install and alignment. His work is worth the money and price is very fair. I just called Dan's precision alignment to ask for a quote on my 2014 Toyota Tacoma 4 x 4. He asked me what size tires were on it, stock size. He asked me if it was lifted, it is not. He gave me $100 quote and was very professional. He said he's booked until next Monday or Tuesday which is understandable because it's the week of Christmas. I have a level kit with some aftermarket suspension parts and new shocks on my 06 Tundra. Had the truck at American Tire and they could not align it- it drove worse after the attempted alignment. They recommended I go to a specialty shop. I found Dan on Yelp and set up an appointment. Edit; I gave Dan another try and told him that I understood his thought process for not accepting the blame for the work done incorrectly and we talked about it and I'm back to bringing my car's here First off I would like to say dan is very good at his job he is aligned several of my vehicles where other people couldn't get it right. The situation arose where he didn't return my calls for scheduling a thousand mile realignment after the initial alignment in my tires on the front started wearing oddly both of them I took it in she told me I needed to take better care of my car that I didn't rotate the tires which I do rotate the tires this time they were two to three thousand miles over the standard 5000 mile rotation not enough to cause any problems. Then he was unwilling to align the car but putting the bad tires on the rear and the good tires on the front . My main purpose for taking it in was it felt like something was going bad on the front and one tie rod end ball joint something and when he said he saw that where and what no line up with those tires and would not put the good tires on the front to check the alignment and mainly find out what component if any was filling he wanted me to take the car back at the end of the day go buy new tires which those were new tires before he got hold of it and then bring it back in. After speaking with other shops in one shop evaluating the alignment issue it was found that he did make a mistake in his initial alignment and that's fine we all make mistakes it's how we handle them. When I told him I had called him twice and left a voicemail regarding my thousand mile check up and he never got back to me he stated quote you need to stay on top of these things. Well yes I do but how many calls does it take for you to stay on top of your customer service? When the economy was bad dan bent over backwards for his customers now he's an effing primadonna that has cost me quite a bit of money. Dan made some recommendations for maintenance and updates to our 2003 Accord. He potentially extended the life of our vehicle and saved it from near death. Our timing belt made it to 140,000mi(way beyond safe usage) and our O2 censor was replaced. Rather than doing partial replacement on just the timing belt, Dan did replacements to the water pump, tensioner and any other part needing updating in the belt system. He shared that he does a complete overhaul because if any of the other parts break it takes just as much time to get in there to fix it; he likes to be thorough and use quality manufacturer parts and OEM when needed. He values doing the job once and doing it right for long haul. I appreciate his communication in regard to explaining how the mechanics function and getting the most out of the vehicle. He's honest on time and communicates if any changes to the schedule arise. He doesn't push parts and services like other shops Ive been to. He speaks honestly and prices considerately. Found Dan's Precision Alignment on Yelp, called, got a good feeling, and brought my car in. And I'm glad I did! He knows cars and alignment, is honest, fair, and does great work. I hit a tall curb a year ago, had it fixed, but it was never right. My car squeaked and thumped when going over small bumps at slow speeds. After a through inspection, he found a missing motor mount bolt, loose cross member bolts, and a ball joint that just needed lubrication. The price was surprisingly low, and I'm happy. Hands down, one of the best service providers out there. I showed up for an alignment and was blown away by the service. Dan initially took the car for a test drive to make sure there were no other issues. He then got under the car and made sure the front end was as it should be. He reviewed the tread on my tires and suggested a rotation next time its serviced. He then spent the next hour doing a precision alignment. After completion, he took it for another test drive just to make sure everything was correct. Told me to come back in 1,000 miles for a free checkup.
