We have used them for years for all four of our cars. They were closest to our house and even though their parking lot is too small, which is not their fault we would always still go there. The last time I had to take my can in for a leak and made an appointment days in advance they do not have my appointment listed. I just needed a leak test and possible new tire. While I was waiting a woman in front of me was having a hard time with her appointment. She was not comfortable with the price and wanted to speak with her husband first. The man said he could get her in TODAY. She left. Then I went for my appointment and he said, someone made a mistake and there was no appointment for me. He did not offer to get me in that day. I found it pretty unprofessional and decided to bring our business to another tire company. It's too bad that that 20 minutes lost them two customers. read more

My mother bought a set of tires they recommended and was told they would honor the mileage warranty if she had the car aligned. Well, after aligning the car. Her front tires wore out at about 20,000 miles on a tire with a 40,000-mile warranty. They said these tires are not rated for her vehicle's weight. If they aren't rated for this vehicle, then why would you sell them for this vehicle? They are refusing to honor their warranty or to mitigate this issue in any way. I would avoid this place like the plague. These people are dishonest, disrespectful, and will take advantage of everybody they can. read more

My boyfriend and I were visiting his dad in Encinitas (we are from L.A.) on the Friday of Labor Day weekend. My VW Jetta stalled right around the corner from his house. BF's dad drove us over to Evans Tire, one of the places he takes his own Jetta for service. We spoke with Raul, who was very professional and courteous. I told him my car was leaking fuel. I was hoping it was just a fuel line that came loose. He said to bring it right over. I had my car towed there around 1:00 pm and by 2:00 pm I heard back from Evans. Raul told me the fuel line was disconnected from the fuel filter. They had reconnected it and my car was ready for pickup. In and out! I was so impressed by the quick and friendly service. Thankfully Raul already knew my BF's dad as a regular customer and he knew we were just visiting from out of town, so my car was fixed extra quickly. They could have easily put my car on the back burner, as I could see they were already very busy, but they looked at my car promptly. They also could have told me the problem was something else, something I didn't actually need like a fuel pump, but they were totally honest and up front. I respect that. Stay away from evans tire. Had terrible experience at their Scripps Ranch and Encinitas. Lications in one week apart. Encinitas location: Dropped the car at 10:30 am for an 11 am appointment. Was told at 2:15 tgat it will be ready. So I decided to wait in their waiting room. At 3:00 I asked if it wax ready. Then they told me " sorry, we ordered wrong parts, new parts should arrive in 15 minutes". They said they saw sitting across from them but forgot to tell me parts were wrong. Scripos Ranch - dropped the car at 11:30 on a Saturday without an appointment to get 4 new tires and oil change. They initially told me it would take 2 hours to look at the car. I did not have a car so I killed 2 hours at a near by cafe then came back. They told me the person who is supposed to work on my car is on lunch break. It took them 3 more hours to finish the job. I've taken my cars to this Evans for tires for the past several years and had great service and pricing the entire time. This shop has also been WONDERFUL at least three times for repairing puncture-flats, quickly and free-of-charge, even on a tire that had been purchased elsewhere. Most recently, I was badly needing a full front/rear brake pad & rotor replacement, but I was concerned about the cost and time. I stopped by to just inquire about an estimate and to talk about their financing options. Amazingly, they had openings that same afternoon! I was able to get immediate financing that will help me spread out the payments, and they finished my car by the end of the same day. I would definitely recommend this location and their staff. They always take care of me quickly and politely, and they do have good deals on tires if you watch for promotions. read more

I am nor sure what happened to this place. My first experience was spot on, great service and fast. 2nd experience different car i set up an appointment, they never ordered my tires, so it took longer than expected but still good. My last car, again, has an appointment they never ordered my tires, damaged my car, and tried to play it off as if they didn't do anything. Actually handed me the part of my rim they broke and said the mechanic wasn't comfortable putting it back on, of course not, he damaged it. I ended up taking my car to another garage, had to order new lug nuts because they stripped them, fix my rim, and bolts. When I called to complain, I was offered a hundred dollars off my next service, although the damage was hundreds of dollars. We recently moved to Carlsbad from Bay Park and switched from the Point Loma Location to the Encinitas location. The service is always consistent and good value for the money. We support local! UPDATE: I wound up contacting customer service at Sun Auto per the response I received to my review. Sun Auto put me in contact with the District Manager of Evans Tire, Tommy Myers. After chasing down Mr. Myers by phone several times, he ultimately took zero responsibility for the damage to my car while it was in their care. He refused to acknowledge that his employees pulled my car over the red line in the parking space (see photos) and jacked it up where it was susceptible to being hit. The damage was quoted at just over $2k to repair. Mr. Myers also failed to acknowledge that I should be compensated for the inconvenience and time it will now take me to get my car repaired (estimated up to 2 weeks). Ultimately my phone call ended with Mr. Myers shouting over top of me and denying any sort of compensation for his shop's negligence. If you need to contact Mr. Myers directly you can reach him at 951-691-9211 but I doubt it will do you any good. Mr. Myers needs a refresher training on customer service. My last attempt to rectify the situation was to contact Sun Auto customer service again. The agent I spoke with was sympathetic and agreed that based on the photos it looked like Evans Tire could have exercised more caution with how they parked my car. I was advised that a Manager would be in contact with me ASAP. Two days later and still complete silence from their management team. I followed up today and was told that no additional consideration would be given for their lack of duty of care. Long story short, please don't leave your car with this shop. And if you do, pray that nothing happens to your car while in their custody because you won't see a dime of compensation from them regardless of who is at fault. Apparently saving a few hundred dollars on a wheel is more important than customer loyalty. As a former repeat customer, they just lost a customer for life. read more

Don't trust this shop with check engine light repairs. They didn't know how to fix the condition, but kept charging more and more for different parts and sensors and labor but the light kept coming back on and then the car failed smog anyway because the light came on in the test. The loud front desk fast talker guy Rahul acts like he knows everything and sounds like he's giving you a deal but he's a shister who doesn't know anything and just takes your money if he can get away with it. It took close to 3 hours for the alignment & rear brakes and they still have not provided an accurate invoice for the work even after several days of repeated requests. Had a screw in my tire. Thought I would need new tires which would be expensive. They were able to fix it rather quickly with no real appointment needed. Within an hour probably, they pulled the screw and fixed the tire pressure in two of my tires actually and didn't cost me a penny ! These guys are good and they want to help in a generous manner. Bait & Switch? Fraud? Or simple incompetence? I'm not really sure what the answer is here but we brought our vehicle in for new tires that were still under warranty (10k miles left). We were told that we would get a 20% discount to cover the warranty. They got us in, new tires installed, checked us out and not only did we not receive the 20% discount, but they charged us more for the tires than what was listed on their website. When we brought this to their attention, they said they did not have the authority to undo the transaction and to speak with the manager the next day. We called the next day for a resolution and there has been zero communication from anyone from Evans Tire. It's been 5 days. Be careful with these folks. read more

I would not return to this location again for a variety of issues. The customer service was okay and I think the work done on my car was fine as far as I know, but the parking lot here is way too small for the number of car repair businesses in the lot. Spots are reserved for other businesses, but not this one so they double park the cars and I can see a hit and run easily happening here as another yelper experienced. I had an appointment for my oil change early in the morning and was still told it would be a 90 minute wait. Me and my car sat for an hour before they took it back. What a waste of time. The waiting area is extremely small and I was not offered so much as a bottle of water. It was cheaper than valvoline up the street with their coupon, but I'm not sure it's worth all the extra time and headache. read more

Went there because I thought I needed a spare wheel and tire; my car didn't come with one. It was complicated cause I was going on a trip with very little room in the car. Lecnal (sorry for the spelling) checked out my car to give me an idea of how much space I needed for the tire, and then told me where I could get tire, wheel and changing tools for a reasonable price. He did this knowing there'd be no sale. In about 15K miles, I may need 3 new tires. I'll be back to this place. The place is clean, people are friendly and tires are round ... what more would you want. read more
