After 30 days and multiple preliminary tests, Encinitas Automotive gave the green light for the Smog Check. Service is personal and friendly, and will be my goto for automotive issues.

However, it turned out the compressor was $700, and the labor was $1700. I complained about the labor cost for what should have been less than a days job, but Furgerson's tried to explain it was justified. In fact, they claimed they have lower labor costs than other shops in the area. I felt I had been gouged and don't plan on returning to Furgerson's.

They were trying to charge me $1300 for my set of tires- and that was even with a special "promotion": buy three and get one for $1 (wtf). Only after I said I would pass did they tell me they would price match. Uh huhh. Called these guys and they offered me the same tires for over half the dealership's quote and accommodated me for same day service (even when short staffed for the holidays). I was happy they had them in stock too. They were so friendly and accommodating. It's refreshing when an auto place doesn't try to exploit a woman's lack of car knowledge when she comes in. Honest and reliable. Enjoyed walking around downtown Carlsbad while I waited. I'd recommend these guys to anyone. Thank you!

Put it this way, if I moved hours away, I would make a point of driving back to this shop for my regular maintenance because to me auto work can be very stressful elsewhere and I trust these guys so much to do excellent work, to always be up front about what I do/don't need and when, to have excellent protection on tire purchases, and to be charming, delightful, and no nonsense all around. It's located in a cool area to walk around with a library less that 20 minutes walk away and the beach and coffee shops and lots of restaurants also in walking distance. Great VALUE overall.

Kind of seems like the prices are not fixed based, it's more like how much we can get. So yeah I don't recommend this place at all. I took my car there for a starter replacement and my car would not start on occasions when I found out that the connector to the starter cable was not connected appropriately. The way it should be connected. That cost me an extra $250 to get fixed somewhere else to get fixed. Ever since I've gone somewhere else to get my car fixed. I've noticed that. I'm not dealing with new car problems. And yeah it seemed like all the time I went there it would be one thing and right after that one thing, it world be another thing shortly after. The red flag should have been the fact that the customers there know George who is the owner there by name and it's because those are repeated customers that go there. Over and over again. (OVER ONE THING THAT BECOMES ANOTHER THING SHORTLY AFTER.) SO DONT GO THERE at all, or you'll experience the same going back shortly after. And yup there's something wrong with that picture.

They are friendly there and never tried to upsell me on anything that wasn't needed---super important to me as a woman/person who doesn't know much about cars. I just want to put in my key and drive, lol! Todd was very honest and took care of everything I needed. The oil change was very reasonably priced. I needed brakes and also a new back tail light, which Todd found the same exact light outside of the dealership that saved me money (everything on Lexus is $$$ to replace). I appreciate that, as I don't have the time to search for parts and other places to get a deal. This is my new, one-stop shop & so happy I found it! Thanks for the great customer service, Todd! They were very rude to my 25-year-old receptionist with two kids were very rude.. then they proceeded to tell the customer that they're overpaying for the car by the way this car is priced at 95% of the market meaning it's the second best price in the country for what it is. This shop doesn't even sell cars. They would have no real clue what it's worth. we have over 200+ cars with over 70 cars in the same genre. Been doing this for 15 years. If anybody knows right now, the market is up in the first place on Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini. I just never had a shop be so rude and proceed to go beyond their job into another job that they have no clue what they're talking about. I would strongly recommend going somewhere that's more courteous with people. I wish I would've recorded how he was talking to this gal.
