The new year is coming and y'all should resolve to get yourself a bunny and spoil him rotten with…read moreveggies. Or, y'know, more realistically resolve to finally go on that diet this year. I know we all joke about how eating unhealthy stuff is cheaper and makes us happy. But hands up if your body feels worse after the fact. Now take those hands and use one of them to tug open the door to Boulevard Produce. Post washing, of course. Keeping it sanitary. They're also keeping six feet apart and requiring all visitors to wear a mask. Now, don't fret if you forgot yours. Just pull your shirt over your face and quickly buy one of their fabric masks for sale at the entrance. Sometimes there will be disposable gloves at the entrance as well, but I didn't notice any today. Be sure to wash what you buy, as not everything comes in plastic and people don't always buy what their germs touch. Pro-tip, bring something, or someone, to carry all your goodies with you as you shop. Much like the farmers market there aren't baskets or buggies to tote your things around. I've been offered a box before by a nice chap that works there, but on the chance it's his day off, best not to risk dropping your mound of goods. I'll be honest. I tend to breeze past a good bit of the first wall when I enter the cooler, as I am a wuss when I comes to trying new veggies like swiss chard and parsnips. But then you turn around and there is what I think of as Hector's Heaven, with cheap varieties of lettuce and carrots that'll please my bunny until he's fat. It's over half off the price that's across the street at Tops. They've got fruits for me, as I am a fruit fanatic, and carts of dairy too. This week there were massive bins of 50 cent per pound apples that I dug into. In the other room there was also a sale on taters where there had previously been bell peppers. They'd been 3 for a dollar before, and fueled my bunny's addiction. Thankfully they're still priced pretty low, as my spoiled boy and I want to eat like royalty. Really healthy royalty. They've got other goodies too, like honey and maple syrup. There is only so much room in my backpack and I have to practice self restraint as I lay my findings on the counter. I'm left with change to spare and skedaddle before I can convince myself to just carry more in my hands. Because when it comes down to it, produce does rot. Besides, they're open six days a week, so I can stop back for more. Hector gives this place 5 paws up. (Well, four paws and one of my hands, but he tried.)

Now that I know how it comes, I'd order it without bread added. My salad was a good size and was made of fresh mixed greens with a nicely grilled, & warm, sliced chicken breast.

So thinking I would just exchange it again so they could see it.... Well this time when I called I got an older lady who literally refused to give me her name and stated "I do not need to give you my name" after I asked for her name at the end of the call because one she never introduced herself like I did and the tone of her voice and the way she talked to me was completely unacceptable and very unprofessional. This older woman told me "we don't do refunds so we're not going to give you another free plant, you are lucky you even got one free plant, for all we know it could have snapped at the base from the wind or you planted it wrong and all of our Zinnias are all healthy and doing great so obviously you did something wrong and killed the plant..." but even though there planted in window boxes and the rest are all thriving. I have spent thousands of dollars at this place and unfortunately with them I will never step foot again in that place. If the older gentleman saw me in person along with my significant other, he'd know exactly who we were. Also, if there are supposed signs in your place of business saying no refunds even though I'm not asking for a refund then maybe you should inform your employees regarding it. Aldi has been described as a bit of a cult. I work at a store that sells groceries, and yet I have…read moremade a ritual of going once or twice a week to buy my staples, and all the things I probably don't need. Often times at the cart corral I'll pull out my designated quarter from its keychain keeper to find some kind soul has decided to pass it forward with a free cart. If you lock them in, you get your quarter back so technically they're all free, but this vibe of friendliness continues through the store. I've never encountered any rude customers or associates in the years I've been shopping here, which is more than I can say about other retailers. Traffic can sometimes get congested at the entrance during peak hours as shoppers peruse the produce section. Conveniently the sales items are parked on the endcap for easy perusal. The deals on them are always exceptional and end up in my cart. I tend to go through all the aisles, taking far too long in the aisle of shame. Can it really be considered a shame when you see the deals though? I've gotten affordable gym mats, cutting boards, limited buy snacks...everything my heart desires. Well, mostly. There are certain products that seem to sell through more quickly than others. I'm not sure if this is because it's located near a gym (some protein fanatic buying all the sardines mayhaps?) or if it is a supplier issue. There's a Tops across the street which remedies things easily enough if you're in a pinch, but there are alternatives at low prices that make it worth the risk. Many times I've checked Reddit to read a review on a product, whether substitution or a temporary find, and have been guided in the right direction. They also have a doubled quality guarantee where you can refund and replace your goods, which I did once without any problems. The associates genuinely seem to care (I found a wallet on the ground and the cashier put everything on hold to attempt to track the person down before they left the premises) and the lack of music allows me to focus without all the bells and whistles that'll in turn help you save a buck. The self serve is card only, and monitored by the cash accepting cashier. There's bags for sale if you've forgotten yours, or even empty boxes to fill. I'll be back next week, because what can I say? It hits Aldi right notes.
