Dao and wow! The crispy sassy flavors where so vibrant and exciting. I have never enjoyed a pineapple strawberry fried shrimp dish before. This was a first. It was really lovely. The savory breading mixed a dynamic and sweet sauce really was the epitome of what I look for when craving a new excitement. While I'm suspicious this isn't for the calorie shy it was worth some extra moments on the treadmill. Dao was with out a doubt a popular hit and the place was buzzing with conversation and populous. The Good: Food is very tasty. Upscale Sunday Buffet looks great though a bit pricey. The Not Good: Had the Bento Box (Spicy "Prawn"). What showed up was "Tiny shrimp", not "Prawns". (I mean, tiny tiny). Manager (Owner?) explained, too expensive to put "Prawns" in Bento box. Sooo, ok. My mouth was set on getting prawns, not tiny shrimp. Order a steak, and get a McDonalds hamburger patty. Hey, it's Beef right? Not cool. OK, i'll give Dao a by, on this one. But they need to quit mis-advertising their product. read more

Some of my favs were the seared ahi tuna, sushi, and coconut curry chicken. I've heard they change it up sometimes so they may or may not have these particular items the day you go. Service is ho-hum, as is the food. I ordered a veggie dish, but received a meat dish. I thought the waitress was offering to get me another wine on the house while I waited for the correct order, but she charged me for the wine. There went her tip. Very clean and nice atmosphere with nice selection of favorites. With good mixed drinks and a wines and super delicious deserts. The portions were pretty decent size for my gf its like two meals. Their chicken and broccoli is the BEEESSSSSSTTTT I HAVE EVER HAD! I like to start with an egg roll appetizer - which is phenomenal. Sometimes the service is slow. I think places like this should have some consistency between their lunch and dinner menus. The lunch menu offers combos of many sizes that include soups/salads and such, the dinner offers no such combos unless you order off the "Japanese dinner" menu. But the food is still amazing and the dinner portion size is HUGE! I just personally would sacrifice a little size for a soup and salad. read more

This was a meal out on a road trip. It was recommended by our AirBnB host and we were quite pleased. We were greeted promptly and warmly then seated immediately. The restaurant was quite busy, near capacity. The noise level was lie considering. The decor and ambiance are nice but not notable. The menu is extensive with everything you'd expect and more. The crab itself wasn't bad, but seemed defrosted. Compact/dense, unlike fresh crab meat. Served with a touch of tobiko which was nice. Great Chinese/Asian-Fusion in uptown Tallahassee (aka Bannerman Crossing). My wife's Philadelphia Roll was in her words "Delicious, delightful, and Dee-lovely." I was more than satisfied with Shanghai Spring Rolls and Hot and Sour Soup, both well crafted and extra tasty. This is probably one of the best buffet's I have ever been to. Their sushi selection was amazing and delicious. They had lots of options for their main courses, and I loved that they had so much fresh fruit. The service was great--they kept our drinks full and our table cleared. High end Asian fusion in Northeast Tallahassee. A great place for lunch or dinner. The Lucy Ho's/Masa standards that sort of set the stage and expectations for Asian restaurants in Tallahassee are met and exceeded here. Great atmosphere, great menu, and a great bar. My coconut curry chicken was fantastic. My son had the two roll bento box lunch, and the rolls were well made and the ingredients were very fresh. The rest of the stuff in the bento box was a little bland, but the rolls made up for it. Hot and sour soup was excellent, and that soup is one of my personal tests of any joint that serves Chinese dishes. read more

Was interested in trying Dao since I have been to Azu numerous times. Was not that impressed with the experience, as the service was slow and food was cold. We ordered soup as an appetizer and it took almost 20 minutes to come out. We were told the kitchen was backed up and it was a busy night for sure. The food finally came out and it was cold, and due to the time it already took we just ate. I'm a huge fan of Lucy Ho's restaurants and I hope Dao improves. read more

It was very extensive, efficiently managed and absolutely everything we tried was delicious. Definitely worth the drive across Tallahassee (I live by FSU). I've been to Lucy Ho's and I prefer Dao waaaay more. The rating is a combination of things. The food is a decent 4 star rating. Unfortunately the service ranks a 0 to 1. This is the third time my wife and I have been here and the third time the service was atrocious; thus we will not be back. We ordered some sushi from their lunch special on a Saturday and after an hour we told them to forget it. They weren't busy; in fact the two sushi chefs spent that time laughing, checking their phones and doing nothing. Folks who came in after us ordered food from the kitchen and were served before us. Getting the waitress to come by more than once took an act of God. Service is as big a part of the dining experience as is the food. So this another Lucy Ho restaurant. If you are Lucy Ho fan, then you will be happy with this restaurant. It offers the same quality as their other restaurants in town. The food is good and so is the service. I order the Szechuan crispy beef with fried rice. I put some yum yum sauce on it and was happy. Dao's used to be our favorite restaurant to take family and friends. No more. The past three times we have been there the front-end staff seemed that they could not have care less if you were there, and food was not on par to the past visits. The kitchen staff seems to center on the door-dash and takeout, leaving eat-in customers to longer waits with little service by boarding on rude, seemingly untrained staff. The managers that would ensure the customers were well served in a timely manner, and the place kept spotless are now gone. It is a real shame that such a good eat-in restaurant has slipped into a mediocre take out joint. Three strikes and we are done. Not coming back. read more
