After talking to a few different firms, Kanika Design just felt like the right fit. Kanika really listened to what we wanted. I've always been a bit nervous about using bold colors, but she pushed us (in a good way!) for a deeper color palette in the main living areas. It looks incredible. Kanika found us so many unique, high-quality furniture pieces that you just won't find at a big-box store. The biggest thing for us was logistics. Once the design process completed, their team handled everything - architectural, permit headache, and construction. Anyone who has done a remodel knows things never go 100% perfectly, but whenever an issue popped up, they were on top of it immediately. They kept the contractors moving and kept us updated on the budget and what was happening next. It's a relief to finally be done after 2 years and have a home that feels like us but way better. I can't recommend Kanika and her team enough. We're still obsessed with how everything turned out.

They explained that since my existing patio is built with Alumawood, enclosing it with a regular wood frame would not be appropriate. The proper options would be either to remove the existing structure and rebuild it from scratch or use a specialized Alumawood sunroom system. She insisted on working with her 'team'. Mind you this is a former Google employee who has no formal training in design and fewer interpersonal skills. I've had better service at the USPS than with UD. In her response below she attempts to imply UD turned me down. The reality is she forced the issue of working with her contractor. Duh, who is footing the bill here Pamela? My contractor recommended the architect who recommended UD; and you attempt to commandeer the entire process by forcing the removal of the client's contractor? Recommendation: Avoid. Highly inflexible, domineering owner.

Shred City ultimately had a better rate for what I wanted to get done so it was a no brainer. They sent me an email to confirm the service and were able to schedule us within a few days, which was even better. My dad is closing his business of 50 years and needed to shred the contents of 26 bankers boxes. The service was completed on 2/18. The driver showed up at my dad's store, shred the contents, left the empty boxes and that was it, a super smooth process! Then I was able to call, make the secure payment over the phone and I promptly received a receipt and Certificate of Destruction. It cost $208 to shred 26 bankers boxes which I thought was fair, especially since it was a mobile service where they came to us. We have more boxes to shred at my parent's house so when my dad is ready I will contact Shred City again to handle that service as well! Great job!

I went to interview at their Palo Alto location (an actual chic office and not some shanty bedroom/house converted office) and immediately wanted to get to know me. Feng Shui, what a concept. Admittedly, I am not well versed or knowledgeable in home decoration and design. I never really in the past considered my home as a reflection of myself and who I am, but that's exactly what it is. In essence, your home is an extension of who you are and what you represent. Whether you try to bring a more elevated spiritual side to your dwelling, or perhaps you need a practical restructuring of your home, Feng Shui is a great skill set to employ. Ashley did some wonderful work for me in this regard, I would say her work is akin to that of a masseuse finding kinks and aches in your body you didn't realize we're there. Often times, designers have the same "look" for multiple projects. Not Maureen - I could tell she chose finishes based on her client's preferences. Our late 1970s home was in dire need of new floors, interior doors, and an updated stair banister. Maureen suggested an initial walkthrough to ensure she would be a good fit. From the moment she showed up, I enjoyed being in her presence. The brief suggestions she made were in line with my ideas, and I knew I had to work with her. Maureen was mindful of our budget. She would always ask my opinion prior to sourcing design choices, even after I communicated that I had full trust in her. It was true collaboration. Maureen consistently stayed on top of timelines and would keep me updated in a timely manner. We enjoyed working with Maureen so much that we decided to add on a master bath remodel.
