I really want to like this place because well...its the closest bakery to us and we used to live in Chicago and have 10 bakeries within a 3 block radius. I've only bought a few things here but everything has been up to par mostly. The cupcakes have been hit or miss and are pretty small but only when you compare it to the humongous cupcakes that have suddenly become the norm in the last few years. My big question is how this place even stays in business with the hours it keeps. Anytime I think to go its always closed?!?! Not good. I'm sorry I wanted to like this place too but the baked items are just ok. I've eaten the cupcakes and though the icing is good the cake seems box made. I decided to go all out and order my sons birthday cake. What a mistake. The cake taste like they dumped a box of baking soda in it and it was not fresh made. It tasted as if it been in the refrigerator for weeks. Also, the atmosphere is not one that welcomes a diverse group of folks. The lady at the register was screaming her views about "non Americans". These are by far the best cupcakes I have ever tasted. I called up today because I was in the area. To my joy, they had the cherry cupcakes (not their best sellers, but my fave). I brought a half dozen to my italian friend, who doesnt like cake. She loved them! Reminded her of the cherry cookies her mother makes. "Best cupcakes" she's ever had. Thank you Daphne's! I ordered a special cake for my grandson's first birthday. When I arrived to pick it up, to my disappointment there was no smash cake with the birthday cake(probably my mistake when ordering). However, they worked to create one for me on the spot, without complaint. The cake was amazing and my grandson LOVED his smash cake! Everyone commented on how good the cake was, even my husband, who hates icing, commented several times on how great it was! That's saying a lot! Mint Hill's finest lunch place and bakery! The lunch here is the best in town and has such wonderful flavors in everything because its all made from scratch daily. The staff here has a natural niche for cooking food and knows how to prepare and serve a great soup, salad, sandwich or even quiche. The food here always comes in very generous portions and appropriate sides (with appropriate entree). The bakery always has wonderful sweets and treats. The talent here started with just baking anything from cookies and muffins to preparing cakes for all occasions and is truly a site to see some of the work they have done. The service here is always such a pleasure. Everyone greets you and is happy to help you and make you feel like family. Daphne's Bakery has so much to offer for everyone and they are my first choice on baked goods and lunch any day of the week! Thought I would try this place again and its still the same - Look pretty on the outside but dry on the inside. Not the best but not the worse. But the real problem is the older lady that runs the register (she appears to be the "mother" of the store). She's just not that friendly something about her is very off-putting can't put my finger on it??? The worst pastries I've ever had. Got a dozen cupcakes for a party and the actual cake part tasted like fish oil. I LOVE this southern style bakery. It smells the way I imagine Heaven will smell when I get there! I love the atmosphere the girls (and few guys) that work there are awesome. My absolute favorite cupcake is the "Ugly Betty" I don't really care for chocolate, but this cupcake is divine honey! Daphne's made the MOST fabulous cakes and cupcakes for my son & daughter's birthday party! The process for ordering was extremely easy & convenient, especially considering that I had a rather complicated & specific order of 2 separate cakes and several types of cupcakes -- I met briefly with manager Carmen while at the bakery having lunch with my toddler, and then was able to email her later with more details of what I needed and links to photos of the types of designs I was looking for. She was so easy to work with, and I was positively AMAZED when I picked up my cakes & cupcakes the day of the party -- they were simply gorgeous and perfect -- beyond all expectations design-wise, and of course, they tasted delicious, too! Daphne's Bakery is simply perfection, from the baked goods, creativity, attention to detail and customer service, this establishment is wonderful. This bakery is a small family owned bakery that warms you up the second you step inside and offers an amazing variety of baked goods. Daphne is amazing and was such a pleasure to work with. She has such a creative vision and really invests in making your cake and day as special as possible. She helped brainstorm and come up with the most beautiful cake, cake board and arrangement of florals and decorations. She was in constant communication and offered her advice and suggestions and was always gracious and supportive of our questions and concerns. The cake was so delicious. Each layer was tastier than the next. The toughest problem was finding which flavor was our favorite. The cake looked like it appeared straight out of a wedding magazine. The attention to details with the icing and decoration far exceeded our expectations. Our guests could not get enough and we have plenty of leftovers which was a must and of course Daphne's Bakery was prepared with cake boxes. I use to stop often to pick up the different items at Daphe's for work and family. As of today September 2, 2017, I will no longer be patronizing. The customer service experience wasn't pleasant, and poor customer service is irreversible. I have a low tolerance for poor service provided to me where I spend my money. read more

I just love Daphne's they have the best cupcakes in town! They just recently moved to a great location still in Mint Hill, NC but they are now on Hwy 51 between Lawyers Road and Blair Road they have gotten a bigger space and they deserve it :) I work next door to their old location and always would go run in there to take home some cupcakes to my husband and daughter :) Congrats Daphne on the upgrade I will be stopping in soon!!! read more
