Very nice interior space, clean, casual and inviting with a take out counter at back of the sit down restaurant area. Our server was very nice, attentive & allowed us time to browse the menu. He brought over water, pita for the table served with butter & green spicy Zhoug. Many different type of kabobs on the menu from chicken, Cornish Hen, to filet, ground beef or salmon along with combos. Variety of the traditional Persian rice, stews appetizers and desserts. We both had chicken Kabob, hubby had combo chicken & filet with 1/2 salad & 1/2 rice and I had the Shirin Polo with my chicken Kabob. Both dishes were excellent, cooked & flavored to perfection with ample portion size. And the Shirin was perfect! We were too full to try dessert, but maybe next time. Restrooms were clean, they do have carry out and possibly delivery option as well as catering services. We were pleased with our meal. A friend told us about this place and we knew we had to try it. The place is pretty small and very informal. The table s are close together but we did not mind. We were able to get a table right away and ordered the combo #2. We were blown away by the our kabobs!! The kubideh was well seasoned and soft. The chicken kabobs were super tender, and rich and buttery. We also got the cherry rice and loved it. We do love Persian food and were very happy with our experience. The owner used to be the manager at Shamshirry in VA. We felt Darband was better. The price for the combo was very reasonable and we had plenty of food for the 3 iof us. I tried this restaurant for dinner this past weekend and honestly...I still think about this meal and I am already excited to go back. This place definitely has the best koobideh I have had in the DMV area. The meat was incredibly flavorful and juicy. The chicken breast was also very juicy and cooked to perfection. Came here for a late lunch, around 2:30 pm on Monday. Expected the place to be quiet, but more than a third of the tables were occupied. People seem to really like it. We were invited to choose our seats. When we sat, a server brought over a large bottle of ice water and a holder with fresh (warm!) pita bread, butter and minced hot pepper. Nice touch. We ordered Kashke Bademjan (eggplant) as an appetizer. It also was served warm and was delicious. A nice sized portion for sharing. I ordered the Ghormeh Zabzi and my partner got the Lamb Shank. I enjoyed my entree. The beef was tender and the combination of herbs/spices were tasty and not overpowering. The portion of entree was pretty big, so more than half of the entree and rice came home with me for later. The lamb shank also was very good, as was the rice accompanying it. The service was good. The rice is perfectly fluffy, and while I usually go straight for the kebabs, the real standout is the Cornish hen. It's unique to find it on the menu, and it's always extra juicy and flavorful. I've been missing Yekta as a site down restarant. And decided to meet up with some friends for lunch. First off the staffers very friendly and helpful with the menu. We asked if the dishes were large enough to share and our server Amin said definitely can be shared as the portions are on the larger side. We had a great time. It is very, very busy and they do not take reservations in a very small place. The service is very quick. The owner is very customer service oriented to make sure everything is OK. I ordered the chicken kebab, which was excellent my fiancé ordered the lamb chops. I will say the lamb chops need more seasoning but the chicken kebab is amazing. We ordered the stew as an appetizer that had a very lemony flavor. A place was packed. We definitely will go back. I have been wanting to eat at this Persian place since it opened on the Pike not too long ago. The kabobs and lamb chops do not disappoint. We asked the waiter for recommendations and he told us they are famous for their kebabs. We had two entrees: the Viziri plate which is a skewer of kobedeh and a skewer of chocken breasts. They were the most tender and well marinated meat. We also had their lamb chops. Again extremely tender, meaty and great grilled taste. The kabobs entrees all come with a Big pile of rice pilaf, a grilled half tomatoes and some raw onions. We also tried their homemade yogurt drink which for me tasted like drinking salad dressing! But I am sure it's only because I am not used to savory yogurt drink. The restaurant serves halal dishes and no alcohol. The place is small with the biggest tables seating 4s. The space gets crowded between tables when it's filled with patrons. Service is efficient. It usually has a line waiting during dinner times so go early or order takeouts. Not entirely sure it can accommodate family with small children who need high chairs. I would go back to try their many things on the appetizers list. The kabobs are a 5 star rating. read more

We heard this spot was pretty good and decided to give it a try by ordering their family platter. Honestly it was disappointing how little meat we received. We have tried every place that offers kebabs in the general vicinity (some having 4-5 star reviews) and all have been barely mediocre. (similarly when it comes to falafel ) How some establishments stay in business for decades with the quality of their offerings is bewildering. However. The chicken kebab here was delightful & fresh. The pita was warm and pillowy. It is a place to which I would gladly return. High praise. The only suggestion I have is to include a slightly larger container of sauce. I am extremely dissatisfied with the irresponsible service here. Despite placing a delivery order in the morning to accommodate guests for 7:00 PM, the management failed completely. When we called at 6:30 PM, we were misled and told the order was en route. It wasn't until 8:00 PM that the owner admitted they could not deliver and demanded we pick it up. All stars for service and food. Unfortunately/fortunately, they are already bulging out of their small location.... Due to the popularity, the space is a bit cramped, loud and there is no vestibule, so the door is regularly open as people come and go making it a little uncomfortable to eat in, particularly on chilly days. That said, the food is great and the manager (owner?) is super nice and helpful. When this place finds a way to expand and has more comfortable space, they're gonna be a hot spot in Rockville. I wish them luck! I'll dine in again in the future, but may just carry out until Spring. read more

I LOVE Persian food...and I've tried every place in the DMV. If Amoo's is a 10 (which it easily is) and the average Moby Dick is a 5 (at best), Darband is about a 7. Maybe an 8. My chicken kabob was a bit dry. Kubideh was good...but not great. The shirin polo was about 99% polo (rice) and only about 1% shirin (i.e. for the extra 5 bucks, they should be a bit more generous with the topping). The place is packed at lunch time...not an empty seat...so be prepared to wait or go at off hours. read more
