Our neighborhood doesn't deserve Darbar. I have been coming here for the past two months and watching the market grow. We are seriously blessed to have the Darbar in our community. Great food, bakery, and market items. Thank you

First time in. Great, polite and friendly service. Shop is nice with lots of specialty food items. But today I wanted to try the $6.99 egg sandwich. It did not disappoint. Eggs, veggies and spices wrapped with an amazing green sauce. I will be back.

Staff did not check in with us at all, and we had to flag them down to get our bill. The kebab plate only had one skewer, which seemed pretty light. The moment I walked in, I received a wonderful, warm greeting. The customer service here is exceptional--they truly make you feel more like family than just customers. On top of the hospitality, the restaurant is absolutely immaculate. I even watched a staff member meticulously wiping down shelves while I waited. They have a great meat selection, but the menu is also highly accommodating for vegetarian I ordered lamb gyro and it was delicious! It had the perfect balance of savory meat, fresh vegetables, and flavorful sauce. I would order this again in a heartbeat We also ordered the Greek fries, which were tasty and unique. They are cut into round discs rather than standard strips. This gives them a larger, crispier surface area that is perfect for scooping up all the delicious toppings. I got the spicy garlic dip on the side because my husband doesn't always enjoy a spice like I do. Managing a giant dog meant we had to eat in the car and skip taking photos this time--sometimes eating takes priority over photography! However, the outstanding food, welcoming family vibe, and pristine cleanliness left a lasting impression. Looking forward to going back!!

Plus, I love going into places where the employees seem genuinely happy to work there & this place is no different. We were greeted warmly, questions were answered & in spite of ordering at a counter, they didn't forget about us. They brought drinks & silverware to the table, then checked up on us a couple of times during our meal. They have a menu with several choices, the portions were generous enough that we had plenty to bring home for another meal. If you're into "clean eating", this is a great example. The food and sauces aren't OVERLY salted or seasoned, but just right. You can taste the actual flavors of the food, which was so refreshing! I've included pictures of their current menu & the dishes we ordered. We're definitely looking forward to visiting again!

Reviewing the menu, there were lots of yummy things to choose from but ultimately we both could not resist the Lamb shank. I'm sad I didn't take a picture of it. It was so tender and delicious. It came with perfect Basmati rice and a side of eggplant stew that was exquisite! I've never had eggplant stew and it was luscious. I dream to about it all night long. We had house red wine - not a big selection of alcohol, which is fine the food is and should be the star. BEST MEAL IN PORTLAND!!!!!…read more Saw this place randomly while looking for a place to eat after a long flight. It was late and not many places were open. This place was closed but a middle eastern place that serves cheesecake was soo intriguing that i knew i needed to come back. Came back Saturday night and they had no tables and was packed. However, they tried to accommodate us so much. However, the night was in our favor. As we started to order take out, a lady was kind enough to give up her table since she was eating alone. It was a small table for 3 people but the staff was sooo accommodating i have no words. They even gave free dessert to the lady who was kind. Then luck would have it, the table next to us never showed up for their reservation so they gave us that table. Finally, we ordered. Turned out, i also got the last shawarma too. Everything happens for a reason! We also got the Saudi chicken kabsa and cheesecakes. The biggest compliment i can give is when the food came, none of us talked for a good 5-7 mins and just sat there in heaven eating. The flavors were soo unique but yet so familiar. If this is Saudi food, i have been missing out. I need to explore more sub categories of middle eastern cuisine. Best bites in Portland for us and that's all i have to describe our experience. Finally, got the Nutella cheesecake and almond caramel cheesecake. I have to say, Nutella was good but easily a skip compared to almond and caramel. Just get 2 of those and you'll be happy. The cakes itself are light and not heavy. They were great end to a great meal. This is a family owned but family loved business. You can see the love as they serve their guests but you can taste the love too. The people are soo sweet and kind and just want to serve you. Please give your love here, because if i lived in Portland, this would my weekly spot.

Spoke to a couple 20-something Saudi guys who had traveled from Seattle to eat food like their moms and grandmas made in their childhoods. They ordered a lot of food and cleaned their plates happily. I am going back next week to try the other half of the menu and cannot wait! This is a must- go restaurant as there is something for everyone, vegan, vegetarian or carnivore The cheesecakes? Home made and mind-bending. Oh, the saffron tea? OMG. Never tasted anything like it. GO!!!! You can thank me later.
