Darcy's Cafe is a staple of the old north end. The breakfast at Darcy's is delicious; a large meal of bacon, eggs, pancakes, and hash browns. Great food, however, is not matched by great prices. You can expect to pay quite a bit for a meal, well over $10 in some cases. The great thing is that the great food is matched by great workers. A collection of older employees and farmer-patrons makes for some interesting conversations about an array of political and social issues. Another little quip about the place is that there is a door that connects Darcy's with its neighbor, Double D's Barber Shop. All in all, Darcy's is a great place for some people watching, to catch a good breakfast, and for some interesting conversation about things that are important to the Grand Forks area residents. read more

Darcy's is known for its great breakfast, and can be quite busy in the morning. Come in at 7 after the farmers leave and before the college students pile in. The prices are great and sometimes the coffee is stronger than the typical brown water here. I like the American fries, breakfast sandwich, and the pancakes. read more

My pops and I don't go anywhere else for breakfast. I've ventured out and gotten a couple of different things (breakfast burrito and Philly) but I always go back to the Dave's special with pumpkin pancakes (when available but regular pancakes are still the best pancakes ever). The service is wonderful even when busy- your coffee cup will never go empty. The key is always patience and understanding. There is typically only two waitresses-You may have to wait a couple of min. Especially if they're busy you may have to wait for a seat but it's well worth it! One of my favorite places for breakfast. I did wait for a while to be seated but it was well worth it! Some of the breakfast I've had in a while. The service is pretty efficient, and my only con here was that it's kinda small and I'm not exactly athletic. However, food is great and love how everything tastes perfectly homemade. Grand Forks institution. Just a must visit classic. Great breakfast and underrated lunch. The lumberjack breakfast will fill you up and I like their coffee. Cinnamon roll pancakes are pretty money. If any negatives, it can get tight in there due to small size. Also, not the friendliest staff. But food is good and you should visit for sure. read more

Reliable, but has changed in the past few months. The burgers went from being freshly pattied to frozen, but the menu calls them hand-pattied, which is totally false. Good food. Dubious service and policy. I am impressed that other reviewers have received such excellent service and that they observed the staff working as a team. Let me just say this not a universal experience. We ordered our food with pancakes and waited until we saw what were clearly our meals appear in the service window. Tantalizing wisps of steam rose from the plates while we waited, and waited while the heat dissipated and the wait staff walked by again and again. It's a small place. It wouldn't have taken 20 seconds to grab the plates and bring them to us. Then one set of pancakes appeared and the waitress saw fit to deliver our food sans my wife's pancakes. "They'll be right out." we were told. Good breakfast food. We finished our meals and still no pancakes. No biggy really the food was still somewhat warm, so we requested that the price of the pancakes be taken off the bill. The server agreed but her supervisor came back, plopped the now cold pancakes down in a box and told us, "We don't take off for that." Oh. Well guess what we don't tip for that either. What would it cost? Two bucks? They lost a tip and our business for $2. read more
