Sunday Happy Hour is a deal. $5 draft beer with a decent selection. The pear gorgonzola flatbread was super delicious. The buffalo fries had good flavor and kept their crispiness despite the hot sauce it was tossed in. At the bar and the bartender was very friendly and cheerful. Soon the relatively empty bar filled up. The restaurant is a newer space for them apparently they moved from the other side of the plaza. They have a lot of space and nice sized patio. When (hopefully not if) this plaza revitalizes they'll be in a great spot. read more

Came here after going to the Blackhawk museum which I highly recommend. It was really good and the service was amazing. The server Mike was very friendly and offered horse radish aioli with my french dip and that sauce was some of the best sauce I have ever had. Great restaurant and beautiful surroundings. We went to the Blackhawk Museum and afterwards decided to have lunch. Fat Maddie was there so we tried it. I had a great Cajun pasta and my wife had pesto chicken sandwich. Both were great and we both had leftovers. The entire staff, especially our server were great or nice or helpful. Great ambiance outside overlooking the water and the Blackhawk Museum. The restaurant is tucked away in Blackhawk Plaza. I had the Cobb salad with grilled chicken, applewood bacon, avocado, and blue cheese, with a delicious dressing. Great spot! Went after the Blackhawk Museum. Had the Shrimp Po-boy and fries. Messy but delicious. Seasoning on the fries was excellent. Lived the sassy ketchup. Tried the Ginger Cridp cocktail, very refreshing. My husband had the house burger and loved it. The cook was perfect and the beef very good. Our server said the beef was from Weber Quality Meats. I had a very disappointing experience at Fat Maddie's Blackhawk. I called to place a large order for my son's school staff appreciation event, and unfortunately every employee I spoke with gave me different information. No one seemed coordinated or willing to help. Instead of assisting me, the staff made the process unnecessarily difficult. I was met with rudeness and felt mocked rather than supported. When I asked. to speak with a manager, I was told there were no managers available at the restaurant, which was surprising and concerning . I would. not recommend this restaurant for special events or large orders. Very unprofessional experience. read more

Came for lunch on the 4th of July and the restaurant was decently busy but there was no wait. We sat on the patio which was really nice on a sunny day. I have been to their other restaurant in San Ramon and was surprised to see that this restaurant offers a completely different (and better in my opinion). The food turned out really good, but the reason for the 3 stars was the service. After we were seated it took a while for a sever to come to us, after he finally showed up we placed our food and drink order and it came out really quick, this issue is he never came back to check on us or even refill drinks, I had to flag down another server just to bring us our check. Once we got the check nobody ever came back to run our cards so I had to walk to the bar and ask the bar tender to do it just so we could leave. Hopefully this was just a one off situation but I would beware on a busy day. read more

First time back to Fat Maddie's in their new location. Admittedly, I used to be a regular pre-COVID but found that the service and food quality went down after COVID. We decided to give the new location a try based on the reviews on Yelp and Nextdoor. The new location is not designed well for noise and the main dining room can be very loud. The space is definitely more bright and airy. Food is the same, but I find my money goes further at other places in Danville and I leave feeling even more satisfied. Fat Maddie's is good for groups and beers. It's close for those in the Blackhawk area who don't want to go downtown and the food is OK. read more

Great location, but sat outside with a yellow jacket. Ordered the black and blue salad. The lettuce was pink with oxidation and the steak had a piece that was solid fat. If I were the chef plating this food I would never serve it like this. I got home and guess what....Bad belly ache with the you know what's! Fat Maddie's Blackhawk is a nice step up from the little Fat Maddie's near Danville Costco. They had a special menu along with breakfast. We are off the special menu and had a an avocado toast and blackened salmon tacos. Service was pleasant friendly and healthful. Fat Maddie's is adjacent to the pond. It was too cold for outside but the sunlight was adding a nice indoor ambiance. We recommend you give them a try. read more

Visited with my pup on a weekday killing time while the boys were at baseball practice... it wasn't busy and was hoping for a warm welcome as I was taking time for me, to enjoy some R&R. I kind of debated between a 3 star of 4 star review. It took a few minutes to be greeted at the door, almost thought it was seat yourself. Once greeted by the young male host, it was friendly enough to the outdoor patio where I could pick my spot. The older group that came in after me.. like walking in when I was finally greeted, were seated right next to me on the outdoor patio which was sort of odd since it was pretty much empty... all good though until they were greeted and served by the server first. I wasn't in a hurry, but she seemed so much more friendly to the group than me.. and just my dog? Do you know we normally tip 30%? Well, 18% this time, as I was a server once too.. but I never made my single table people feel like they were less than a group.. she wasn't unpleasant, just always felt like the afterthought to the larger table, yet I was here first. Nonetheless, other guests further down wanted to talk about my pup and had lovely conversations with guests. I just felt like an inconvenience to my waitress. I had to ask for water 3 times. Okay, I admit, the first time I poured my water into the dog bowl by the table, but said so too.. the other water was for me. Would me nice not to be waiting and having to ask while sitting in the sun. The margarita pizza was fresh and crisp with fresh ingredients and the margarita from the bar was quite tasty.. so very happy with the pricing at happy hour being far less than a drive through now days, but felt rushed to leave when asked twice for my payment.. so I left and sat in my car 30 more minutes before picking up my boys. I'd planned on getting root beer floats for them, but didn't want to order them yet. I really like the happy hour pricing, but probably won't be back on my own with my dog again. Fat Maddie's is in Blackhawk Plaza in Danville. First thing I want to point out is service was great. Our waiter was very friendly and responsive. I especially liked the outdoor mall venue too. We sat out in the patio overlooking this man made creek. Only issue were these Canadian Geese were all over the creek area and made it slightly uncomfortable sitting out in the patio area. We ordered a few items: Brussels sprouts, clam chowder, seafood risotto, and a chicken gyro. Brussels sprouts were really good but the clam chowder and seafood risotto were a little less than expected and seemed to be more like the frozen kind and not fresh. The chicken gyro was good but not any better than a chicken gyro at Nick the Greek. The overall experience was good but I would look at other American cuisine in the area to see if they might be better. read more

Fat Maddie's Blackhawk takes over the space vacated by Fieldhouse Sports bar. The interior is is the same but much larger then FMG in San Ramon. We stopped in for a quick dinner on Saturday night. We grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered the following: Blackened Salmon sandwich 4 stars on the specials menu. Delicate tender salmon. Not especially spicy or heavily charred. Comes with generous amount of fries. $18 Jalapeño Burger 4 stars add on grilled onions. Nicely grilled beef patty. Comes with fries. $18 Plenty of parking in Blackhawk center. Got to try Fat Maddie's finally yesterday- my office manager treated everyone to lunch and this was the choice of the day. I've heard great things about this place so I was excited to get to try it. I will say the menu is a bit intimidating because there is A LOT to choose from but it all looks so good. Looks great for lunch and dinner- lots of seafood items for pescatarians like myself. I went with the garden burger and the cool thing is you can swap out the choice of fries (regular or sweet potato) with clam chowder. The garden burger came on a soft bun with lettuce, tomato, red onion (raw) and a red pepper aioli spread. When I tell you it was SO flavorful- it actually reminded me of a juicy turkey burger and I had to look twice to make sure it was veggie. Next time, I would probably order grilled onions to take the flavor over the top but it was the perfect bite(s). I gave it four stars because the clam chowder (for me) was just okay- I love my chowder and it's not all created equal. The chowder came with plenty of clams and chunky potato but it tasted like it was missing something I couldn't quite put my finger on. I went back and added full fat butter to it (personal choice) and it was a little better. Probably won't order that again. I would come back for the garden burger as well as the fish and chips and seafood salad (shrimp/salmon) that was recommended by my co-workers. Since discovering Fat Maddie's Blackhawk a couple of months ago, I've been back twice more. Really liked the veggie sandwich and while I have made this sandwich for myself at home, sometimes I'm lazy and want someone else to cook and clean. Today is the first Sunday in October and it will be my fourth visit in just over 2 months. This time I decided to try out their weekend brunch with my sister. Pleasantly surprised. My crabcake Benedict was yummy. The English muffins were well toasted. The crabcakes were plump and tasted like they had plenty of crab and not too much filler. The eggs were almost perfect. The first was runny but the second yolk wasn't. My fault, I should have specified soft poached. Another fault, I should have also asked the hashbrowns to be cooked crispy. They were pale on both my sister's and my plates. Speaking of my sister's plate, her veggie omelet was epically huge. It was so big, she could only eat half. Nice and fluffy, it came with hashbrowns and English muffins. Enjoyed the dining experience. Will definitely be back. read more
