Absolutely a 5 star place. What a nice restaurant and excellent food. Rustic ambience and the folks here are also 5 star. We will definitely be back!!!

Stopped in while waiting for pizza next door , enjoyed a beverage -who would of thought this place would be in Flatonia Texas -what a find, and the French bread is outstanding

We were on our way to San Antonio & hungry. Made a search & caught our attention the 5.0 clean rating, which is not common. We had the Cheese Platter for appetizer, then Fried Chicken, Fried Cod, Cole Slaw, Side Salad & Pomme Frites......every single thing was delicious & we endorse the 5 stars this place is a must in one's bucket list‼

This place is a hidden gem! I must admit that I never expected to find a place like this in such a small town. I found myself in Flatonia for lunch on a Wednesday. After trying several other restaurants that were closed, I settled on this place. I wasn't excited because of the $$$ on Yelp, but it seemed to be the only option in town. Boy was I surprised! This place is located in a historic commercial block in a fabulous old building. The dinner prices may be steep (I didn't look), but the lunch prices were completely reasonable. There was a selection of sandwiches, salads, full plates, and salad. I settled on the turkey sandwich that came with fries. It was phenomenal! It was served on French bread and was fully loaded with turkey and extras. The fries were also just as good. I'm pretty sure they had Parmesan and truffle oil on them. My entire bill, with an iced tea, was only $11.

We made it just in time because there was no wait and the restaurant wasn't crowded yet. We were greeted by Connor, who was a pleasure to have as our server. He made great recommendations and gave us his honest opinions about the food and drinks, which we really appreciated. I had the citrus chicken, while my family ordered the mushroom ravioli and spaghetti. Everything was delicious, and the fresh-squeezed lemonade was wonderful! I also tried a lavender mocktail. It was okay, although I think it may have tasted better as a cocktail. By the time we were ready to leave, there was a wait, so we were glad we arrived when we did. There is also plenty of outdoor seating if you prefer to dine outside. We really enjoyed the flavorful dishes, the friendly service, and the overall experience. We'll definitely be back again!

Nothing special with the escargot, but it was still delicious. The crispy brussel sprouts were good, but the balsamic glaze through my family off lol, but I still loved it. Nothing special about the pepperoni pizza at all. The melted Raclette was really fancy and delicious. They came out with melted cheese and scraped it onto our bread and prosciutto. Palo Alto dip was weird, but pretty good too. I don't think I've ever eaten anything like that. The bow tie pasta was ok. The Citrus Chicken and Beef Bourguigon were very tasty and flavorful. Overall, a bit pricey, but the food portions were generous and the quality on some of these dishes were worth it. The staff here were fast and friendly. Lots of tables to dine at to include outside in a tent, buuut it's summer so indoor sounds better lol. Lots of parking as well.

There's an empty lot next door for parking as well as some street parking, but both are pretty limited and hard to come by. If you can Uber, I recommend it. The outdoor tent setup is really pretty and feels like a romantic date night and the main dining experience, while the inside is much more basic, but air conditioned. We were seated indoors which was good since it had just rained and the weather was quite muggy. Our unfriendly waiter (so French) came over right away to take drink orders. Our group consisted of one beer drinker, one cocktail sipper, one soda guzzler and one water drinker. The drinks were very good. For appetizers we started with the grilled octopus and escargots, both of which were delicious and the stars of the meal. For entrees two of us ordered the steak frites, also ordered bolognese, and côte de porc. Nothing was bad at all, but nothing really stood out either. For dessert we tried the crème brûlée and chocolate ganache, which were fine to finish the meal. If you go, definitely get the grilled Spanish octopus, that was the standout dish for me. For a party of four, our bill came out to $360 plus the tip. I'm glad I finally tried it, but with the higher prices and kind of average food, I don't feel a strong urge to come back anytime soon. Maybe in good weather I would uber over for some drinks and great appetizers.

It bears repeating. OBSCENELY OVERPRICED AND ABSOLUTE SLOP. I went there for my birthday, and I need a redo of my birthday. I cannot comprehend how ANYONE could rate this as not poison. I was sick during the night from this food. It was just awful. The only good item was the fresh baguette that was served with the escargots. The escargots were flavourless and obscenely overpriced. I requested salt. It did little to redeem them. I had the absurdly overpriced duck - $45. It was flavourless, dry as a bone, miniscule in size, served with frisée (awful), and an overabundance of roasted potatoes. $45 for this is a crime. I would not serve this to a starving stray dog. The plate was clearly designed to extract maximum profit for a tiny strip of dry duck. The fat on the duck was equivalent to to the minimal amount of protein. My dinner companion and I ordered pomme frites as a side. We imagined that it would be a reasonably sized side plate. They brought a TUB. It was a serving bowl size. We commented about this and the staff say that they like to 'make sure that people are fed'. I certainly appreciate the sentiment, but oh my, not THIS place. I had the special desert. Nope. It was an abysmal failure. It was supposed to be a coconut rice pudding with mango sauce. It was served with a flavourless piece of millefeuille on top. Pointless. The rice pudding and mango sauce were pre-cooking school level. Again I revisit the pricing on this. Criminal. I was out with a friend who was kind and generous enough to take me out for my birthday, so I put on a brave face. This place should shut down immediately. It is a revolting excuse for food. Actual excellent french food can be found in NY for FAR less than these prices. I will cook a french meal (satisfying and delicious) for any person who disagrees. This place is a trashcan. PLEASE I beg of you, do NOT waste your money! Stay home and cook, or take me up on my offer.

Rather disappointing chocolate mousse. Tasted more like pudding, and topped with store-bought whipped cream from a can.

It's been quite a long time since I was here and as I was in the neighborhood I decided to stop by again today. Remembering how good they were last time, I ordered the Oma's Frikadellen (grandma's recipe for all-beef meatballs). I like a good German meatball and these were tender and juicy. There was a choice of red cabbage or sauerkraut as a side; having confirmed they made the sauerkraut in-house themselves, had to order that because I know it's super healthy to eat. Better yet, that sauerkraut was almost perfect with a great flavor, but not too tart and just really a delicious version. Honestly I could've eaten a huge bucket load of that sauerkraut and I may buy some to go someday just to have it on hand in my refrigerator; a slight warm and it would be a wonderful side to serve guests. Dessert was a wow! I wanted to try a dessert that they made themselves and so I couldn't help but go with one of the dessert specials of the day. There were several options available not on the menu and although it was tempting to try the tiramisu or one of the three versions of crème brûlée they make, I decided to go with their homemade limoncello cake which turned out to be a delicious choice that I'm very happy about. Waiter Ty said it was one of his favorite desserts here and I could taste why -- moist cake, flavor-filled filling, whipped cream and with blueberries to decorate the plate. In fact it was so yummy that I decided that so someday soon I would order one with a couple days notice and then take it to my family's place next time I go over for dinner - what I don't know is whether I'll tell them the truth or try and pretend that I made it myself LOL :-) Update: the next day I did call to order an entire cake and it didn't last very long once the family dug in, got gobbled up because it had an intense great lemon flavor, wonderful.

A cappuccino was essential to round out the sweetness of the dessert. While the lack of latte art was a bit letdown, it was still a great pairing.
