That's fine as I have a registered doctor recommended service animal, but they only have indoor seating and I try not make other patrons uncomfortable by eating inside with my pup. Friendly server and cook was welcomed in and given a wave goodbye have a nice day upon leaving. Server took my order when I sat down. Half order biscuits and gravy and side of bacon. Food came out quickly the bacon was hot and crispy/thin. The biscuit and gravy was warm but not hot or seasoned enough. Went for a bit of a late breakfast with my wife, she got the classic burger and I got the 2-2-2 and replaced the regular pancakes for the cinnamon swirl ones. The highlight for me was definitely the cinnamon swirl pancakes, nice and sugary just how I like ! The wife said she enjoyed her classic burger and that all the ingredients were fresh. For drinks, I got a pretty standard coffee nothing to write home about but still enjoyable, and the wife got a sweet tea that she wasn't thrilled about to say the least. Came here on a sunday after a long game day at UF. Most breakfast places were super packed and we got lucky coming here we didn't have a wait but eventually it was crowded. Took a long time to get waited on but they seemed understaffed (common issue nowadays). The skillet hash was pretty good and the omelet looked great! read more

Apparently a new place. Hubby had Philly Cheese Steak, and said it was very good. I don't eat beef or pork, so my choices were limited. I ordered the chicken salad with fruit. It was ok. Wish the fruit had been fresh rather than canned. Should have been served on a larger plate, everything kept falling off the plate. Our server, Maria was delightful! It's just a small diner in a strip mall. But the service is impeccable, the eating area and the bathrooms are CLEAN, and the food is quick and good. You are greeted the moment you walk in the door, by a waitress and the cooks, who are in an open style kitchen. It feels like you're with family. I've only ever ordered breakfast. Both times, a breakfast sandwich with egg, bacon and cheese. Once on rye toast. The next on a bagel. But I also ordered a cinnamon roll pancake on the the side. They are so good; moist, and yummy. Food was hot and received rapidly after ordering. I had a Philly cheesesteak omelette but changed the peppers to mushrooms without any problem. It was wonderful. Staff was so very friendly and accommodating. I was with a walker and they saw me coming and opened the door for me and helped me through out the service with compassion. Food is fantastic and so is the staff! The Breakfast Griller is delicious! It was a bit early for me so I only ate half of it but it was really good. I would definitely come back here again if I were in the area at breakfast time. Darrells used to be the place where my wife and I chose to go to breakfast. We have been customers since they opened in Gainesville. One of the things we loved about Darrells was the warm welcomes and see you later from the Manger/Cook Sherwin and our amazing waitress Patricia. Patricia always took amazing care of us and our food was always hog and fresh. If I was basing this review off our experience with just these two it would be a 5 star review. Unfortunately, Darrell has made some changes that have placed this restaurant in a complete nose dive. It seems he has moved Sherwin to Ocala several days a week and Darrell fails to see the value he has in his server Patricia. As of late, we can't one item ordered prepared correctly. Eggs requested overnight are cooked hard. Eggs requested scrambled are anything but scrambled. Undercooked sausage, toast served cold with no butter etc. The person Darrells hired to cool seems like he belongs at McDonald's as a cook where a machine does all the cooking. The last thing he posses is skills as a short order cook. It has gotten so bad we drive by the restaurant to see who is working to know if we will eat at the restaurant. The part that is one of the biggest turn offs is most of the time, the newer cook is sitting outside on the curb, smoking cigarettes and on his phone. He could be in the restaurant helping out but instead he lacks any team work. The service when Patricia leaves a lot to be desired. On one occasion at lunch (1:20 pm) we walked in and counted more than 10 dirty tables and only three tables occupied. The server was talking on her cell phone, the newer cook outside on his phone and smoking while sitting on his behind. Their was zero sense of urgency and this is one of the times my wife and I just walked out. This same server worked at another breakfast restaurant in town. She acts like the customers are a bother to her and she has one speed slow. Darrells has been a revolving door for servers with the exception of Patricia. She always seems to be working until recently we learned she took a second job. So we will be going to an old breakfast favorite the Mill to see Patricia there. Darrells is on a path to be a distant memory very soon with its poor good and service. It seems Darrell would notice high good costs with the amount of wrong orders being sent back. Darrell has lost touch with this restaurant just as it was getting traction and running pretty well. It is out of control and losing a lot of customers. No one needs to just look at my review but the last few reviews left regarding what is going on at this restaurant. My wife and I will not be returning ad long as these two employees are at Darrells. If Patricia and Sherwin are working we will be there. Until Darrell realizes that his current cook and server are digging him a deep hope the restaurant has no chance at surviving. read more

Was looking for a good breakfast/ lunch place in Gainesville and we hit the jackpot here. Breakfast includes typical offering and some innovative choices as well. Lunch menu was attractive as well! Our server was Lexi and she was delightful. Very pleasant , helpful with her suggestions and efficient. We both ordered omelets that included a choice of toast, grits or pancake. I am an omelet lover and these were great. Egg was fluffy,very tender and stuffed to the brim with our choice of filling. My western was fabulous with some of the best tasting I have ever had. Done enough to be cooked but definitely not close to crispy. The French toast was barely cooked enough. It was soggy in the middle. This has been the worst experience we have ever had. We (Husband, our 3 y/o, 1 y/o and myself 25 weeks pregnant) arrived at 10:30 am and waited to be seated for maybe 40 min(while there were empty tables but not yet cleared) Once we were finally seated it took 10 min for the server to come and ask us about drinks, asked for orange juice and coffee, 10 min later, no orange juice available, no coffee served, asked for apple juice and reminded her about the coffee, another 10 min passed and she came empty handed, no apple juice available. Told her about the missing coffee for the third time and she finally brought it. This is when we ordered our food. We started seeing everyone in the restaurant being served their food, even the ones who arrived after us, time passed and nothing was served nor did the server come and explain the delay. We waited for 50 min and no food arrived. I went to speak with the server and she had no explanation, while I complained she just looked at me, no words. We just gathered our kids and left on an empty stomach at 12:30 in the afternoon. Do not go to this restaurant. Terrible service, no hostess, no boss boy. You have to wait to get a very basic breakfast. Just walk across the street to peach valley and you will not be disappointed. Do not waste your precious time here, it doesn't deserve it. read more
