We came in as customers and left as family. This place won business of the year and everything from the impeccable service to the phenomenal food and amazing atmosphere tells you why. We made a 30 minute trip to be fed well. Just delicious! Thank you Tracy for the great recommendations and hospitality.

For an unforgettable taste of southern cooking, look no further! The food is incredible, the service is top-notch, and the menu is simply outstanding. From the moment you step inside, you're welcomed as family. My family and I sampled various dishes, and every single one was fantastic! Po'boys, chicken supper, catfish, shrimp and oysters Enjoy!

Sunday after Church Lunch and we decided on Darrows. Customer service was top tier. We were greeted immediately and although orders are placed with a cashier we were still given a menu to look over before going to order. The owner came by to greet us as well, he was very pleasant and explained the menu to us. The decor was nice and they have a full bar, yay!!!. We ordered Gumbo Yaya which tasted better than it looked. Chicken and waffles, shrimp plate with fries and Jambalaya. For drinks we ordered a lemon drop and long Island ice tea very tasty. The young man who made the drinks came over to ensure they were good. I loved my experience and plan on returning for more delicious eats

I brought a group of first timers to Darrow's New Orleans Grill in Carson this afternoon, enjoying the opportunity to share one of my favorite local eateries with the group. As a resident of Carson and a loyal customer for over 10 years, I appreciate the restaurant's commitment to serving delicious, abundant dishes. The owner extends a warm welcome to all guests, offering a personal tour of the restaurant's history and a sample of their signature gumbo. If you're in Carson and craving New Orleans cuisine, I am confident that Darrow's will provide a delightful experience.

Back a thousand years ago (or so it feels) before Covid / house moves / countless other life interferences, I used to make it to Darrow's fairly regularly. I think today's visit ended a three year drought for me, and despite the now 60-mile round trip, I'll definitely not be leaving it so long again. The quality is unchanged, it's still a must-try. The restaurant is only open Thursdays to Sundays these days, and I dropped in on a Thursday for a late lunch amid the Atchafalaya Swamp signs and soundtracked by unobtrusive saxophone jazz covers. The restaurant wasn't busy, and the service was Louisiana relaxed and super friendly as always. I didn't have to wait long for my food, and the prices here are great for the huge Po'boy sandwiches. I once tried to eat two in a sitting... not easy, as one is a decent meal by itself. I default to the Zeek Po'boy (to the point that I can't comment on the rest of the menu!) with its perfect soft catfish in crunchy breadcrumbs accentuated in both flavor and texture by chunky potato salad. Highly recommended, and that's an understatement.

I am back for some "down home" Louisiana fried catfish, fried chicken wings, bean-balaya, greens, red beans and rice, and a peach cobbler. YUMMERS! Norwood greeted me with much love and care. In fact, every worker with whom I have had the pleasure of meeting, has been as congenial as Norwood. I can say without fear of contradiction that Darrow's New Orleans Grill treats everyone like loving family members. That is rare these days. I thought I was his favorite until I saw him greeting others the same way. The room is filled with love. Every customer sees it. Every customer feels it. If you're one of those who is wondering where the love has gone, come to Darrow's. You'll find it right here waiting on you.

Today was my first experience with Cajun food and I was absolutely blown away! I ordered the shrimp po boy with a side of beans and rice. The sandwich bread was so soft and super fresh; I wouldn't be surprised if it had been baked this morning. The shrimp was golden and fried to perfection! Try it with a side of gator sweat sauce, it's obscenely green and ridiculously good. The beans were full of flavor and delicious as was the rice. We sat out front on the patio and they were able to accommodate my small well behaved pup. Darrow, the owner introduced himself and gave us the full rundown upon arrival. He was friendly and you can really tell how much he cares about his product. Overall, it was a 11/10 dining experience that look forward to having again. The jambalaya is on the top of my list to try next visit.

Best food in Carson! The breading on the zeek po boy was on point. The gator sauce complemented the sandwich perfectly. The corn bread is the best I've ever had. The service was also top notch. The owner was super friendly. We loved the conversation. He told us about his family history with New Orleans and the famous Commander's Palace. The hurricane was sweet and boozy. Restaurant and restroom were clean. Lots of indoor seating. There is a free covered parking lot. Go slow so you don't miss the turn. Will be back soon

Look no further for an authentic, warm and welcoming Cajun experience. We were greeted by Norwood and he walked us "rookies" through the menu. Of course we had to try the gumbo - packed full of flavor with undertones of seafood, full of shrimp, sausage and all those delicious seasonings that make it. Got it with the jambalaya which was just as flavorful on its own. My buddies got the chicken plate (lots of beautifully fried chicken, rice & beans, and fries all with that gator sweat...oh yeah!), as well as the brisket bowl which was as close to a salad as you can find here (way tastier than any salad you'll ever have with the jambalaya and beans). Hurricane on the rocks was sweet tangy and tropical, just like it should be. Parking is super plentiful in the attached garage. There is a good amount of seating in the restaurant with fun stuff up high on the walls. Try it if you are craving a good Cajun joint in the South Bay!

    Catfish meal

5/5 highly recommend. Walked in and were treated like family immediately. The food was delicious, ate damn near all of it. I saw they also serve breakfast on Saturday and sundays. You order and pay for your food at the counter before you have a seat, which is great with me. Don't have to worry about the bill after finished dining. Ended up ordering the catfish meal with red beans and rice and potato salad. Ate it with their green ranch sauce and hot sauce. Yum! Will definitely be taking my parents and my family here adefinitely be frequenting this place. They're open thursdays to sundays. Thank you Darrow's for the awesome hospitality!!

The catfish is good, the corn bread is amazing, and the flavors and spices in the gumbo gave a very nice peppery kick. Also, Norwood gave us the most friendly welcome to his restaurant described the items on the menu for us first-timers while offering us samples. A really good experience, and I look forward to returning for more of their specials!

While visiting Carson, CA for work, I went to Darrow's on a recommendation. I was not disappointed, nor will anyone else who likes delicious food and friendly people. I was greeted warmly, and given a sample of the file gumbo, which I was intending to order. The sample confirmed it. I ordered it with jambalaya rice, corn bread and a hurricane. As I enjoyed the delicious meal, the owner mingled with what I thought were the customers, until I was informed that we were actually family. The decor reflects the New Orleans roots of the owner with a charming mural. I will definitely go back before I go home.

His eggs were just the way he likes them - soft and fluffy, like the egg whites have been whipped. Pancakes were also very delicious with good flavor and fluffy height. The pancakes had a brown butter topping that he really liked, didn't even need syrup. Sausages didn't seem homemade but were very tasty. I ordered the Eggs Noni ($18), which is a version of Eggs Florentine, plus a side of bacon. The Eggs Noni came on two pretty hard small sourdough discs. I had difficulty cutting through the crust with a knife. There is a lot of cayenne in their hollandaise sauce, not my favorite version. The thick slice of tomato was the highlight. Side of bacon $6 for two measly pieces - overcooked and too crunchy. I could tell the bacon would have been good if it was more on the meaty/chewy side. This came with a potato pancake which was like mashed potatoes mixed with cheese and then fried. Service was okay, I think because it was pretty busy. They may need more staff to help the servers with drink refills and to check in more frequently. Lastly, our table was very wobbly and we had to fix it with sugar packets otherwise our drinks would have toppled.

At many brunch restaurants, you can sometimes sense when the basics -- like pancakes or French toast -- aren't given the attention they deserve. My wife and I had an enjoyable breakfast experience, tasting some unique dishes that are worth coming in for. We had a real early errand in the Lomita area, so wanted to take advantage by trying a different breakfast place. They have a really informative website, explaining the owning family's participation and how some of their food is sourced. It's a brunch place (open from 8 am to 2/3 pm, Tu-Su), so needed to wait a bit outside (street parking only, found one hour free parking right in front since coming so early). Menus are available at the front counter, and you place and pay (clover) for your order first. The food came out soon after, delivered to your table. There is a self-serve water jug in the same area as take-as-you-need take-out containers (also saw a self-serve costco-size plastic wrap box for wrapping...such a Korean thing to do). Utensils and napkins are available at the table to take for need. I really like places like this that have optimized the service experience, getting what you need without having to track someone down. Forking Around's Filipino Burrito ($18.95) - a collab with the food influencer 'Forking Around' to put into a breakfast burrito, many common ingredients from a Filipino breakfast. This includes egg, garlic fried rice as base and a vegetable lumpia with longanisa pieces, wrapped in a good flour tortilla. Sides were both a cilantro lime crema and a well made sawsawan. The sausage was not too sweet nor too red (though perhaps a bit too meatloaf-like), and the lumpia in the burrito worked for me. Korean Breakfast with bulgogi and steamed rice ($19.95) - it was served in a cast-iron skillet and the pan had been heated up greatly...super hot when served and still warm by the time we left. The flavor of the bulgogi was solid, and I loved the presentation. Taco Truck Burrito ($17.95) - korean-style al pastor pork, with pineapple and kimchi fried rice and egg. It was good....forgot to ask if the meat was really cooked on a vertical rotisserie. Came with a good chipotle salsa and lime crema. We were done in 30 minutes, from entry to exit. It wasn't too busy, so asked the front-of-house lead where the longanisa sausage and lumpia were made...she stated that it was all in-house. That's really impressive, making an ingredient from scratch that is only used in one dish. This and the elegant presentation and longevity really shows that the entire team behind bites & bashes cafe (catering) knows what they are doing.

According to DoorDash, the top three most-liked orders are the Haus Burrito, Bronco Burrito, and Wurst Burrito. *** Bronco Burrito (3 fresh eggs, smoked bacon, white american cheese, avocado, pickled jalapeños, crispy tater tots, cotija cheese & chipotle aioli wrapped in a flour tortilla then grilled - sunny side egg - $12.99): The bacon was a bit salty and the tortilla was mediocre. The fillings were good, but adding jalapeños felt like a questionable decision. Overall, it tasted too saucy for my liking and I didn't even touch the chipotle sauce that came on the side. *** This is one of those passable breakfast burritos you get because it is convenient and available all day. Personally, I am sticking to places like Phanny's or Brother's Burritos for breakfast burritos in the South Bay.
