I have not gone to Boiling Crab in years! This is my 1st time at this location and boy was it really busy! Wait time is 1 1/2 hours last Friday and I believe this is the norm lol! People waited to be seated and boy when we were seated, my friend and I ordred like there was no tomorrow! We started out with sweet tea and cajun fries. That was lovely. But wait don't fill up with that! Then came out the fried calamari, that was so tender and not rubbery. Dip it in catsup, marinara, or tartar sauce, that calamari was good. Then came out the 2 1/2 pounds of shrimp with sausage, eggs, potatatoes, corn, mix it with a bag of mussels and that shabang with a cup of on the side sauce...oh my word what have a I done! Oh don't forget the cup of rice and an order of chicken wings! Some shirmp were not that fresh...mushy for a few. I would have loved to try the fried soft shell crab but they ran out for that night. Will definitely come back and this time be there on the dot when doing waitlist and come really hungry!

Large rock found inside the bag of food.

Yesterday, July 15th my family and I visited The Boiling Crab located in Torrance, CA. We ordered a bag of 1 Lb of Clams, 1 Lb of Mussels, 1 lb of shrimp, corn and potatoes. When they delivered our food we noticed a large rock inside of the bag. "WHY WOULD A ROCK BE INSIDE THE BAG?" Specially that large? Could it be to make the bag heavy to over charge customers food? We were extremely shocked... But when we called the server over to our table and reported the issue, she immediately grabbed the rock, hid it, and said, "Sorry, that's not supposed to be in there". It is not right to do this to customers, a large, franchised and corporate structures company to do this. This is unacceptable. They need to do better.

Came here about 3 days ago with my sister. I know this place gets busy, but the wait was honestly longer than expected. Not sure if it was just bad luck or what, but I noticed people who arrived after us were getting seated before us, which was frustrating. If it wasn't for that, I would've easily given this place 5 stars. Once we got inside, everything changed. The service was amazing -- servers and bussers were constantly checking in, refilling drinks, and making sure we had everything we needed. Easily 10/10 service once you're seated. The food? Delicious. Seriously, no complaints there. Just a heads up: if you don't like garlic, this might not be your spot because they don't hold back. But overall, the flavors were on point and definitely worth it. They really don't have much competition in what they do. Just wish the front-of-house experience matched how great everything else was.

First time visiting, we didn't have to wait a long time we walked in. We sat there for 15 minutes. Food was amazing. Service was great all above expectation. I definitely recommend this place and I'll be coming back soon.

This easily ranks in my top three restaurants. I've been coming here for years and never get tired of the shrimp bag whole shebang mild, it's just that good. I highly recommend adding corn in the bag for extra flavor. I always go for the rice and sweet potato fries, and the fried catfish is absolutely delicious. Even the Coke tastes better here less syrupy, if that makes sense. Service is pretty quick once you're seated, even though the place is usually packed. The wait can get long at times, but it's definitely worth it. Bathrooms are always clean and the restaurant is always kept tidy.

First time here and I absolutely loved it! Right when you walk in, they're super upfront about the menu and what's already sold out, which I appreciate. The hostess was so nice and the server as well, she answered all of my questions and even made sure to explain prices as I ordered so there were no surprises. Also, the walls with all the writing on them are such a cool touch. I totally get the hype!

This location is doing everything right . Service was great and food was fire. There are a lot of knock offs out there but when I first moved to LA 16 years ago I used to frequent the boiling crab in K-town. The quality of the food is just better. I highly recommend the snow crab and the fried shrimp.

Hadn't been to Boiling Crab in years, so I was very pleased to see a new'ish location close so to me. Service was spectacular and the server made amazing recommendations that were spot on. One of them was adding lemon pepper seasoning to our onion rings...GAME CHANGER (ate them so fast!) Also had a standard bag with sausage, potato, egg, etc... Since this location does not remove the heads from their shrimp, I ordered a fried shrimp basket and used those. It was the perfect addition! Margarita was good too. Standard seating, standard layout. No issues at all. I will return.

Love!! Was craving this & boiling crab definitely delivered! I got shrimp, the whole shebang, medium spice. We shared fries also, which are so good! I appreciated how they gave us gloves & a bib. Definitely helped a lot with mess. I will say that their medium spice level is pretty spicy. I would go with mild if you are debating which level to get! Service is friendly and nice.

Long wait but service was great once seated! I had a half pound of the whole shebang shrimp! It was good but I felt like the flavors were to overpowering for my liking. I used to love this place years ago, but I just didn't seem to enjoy it as much. Pricing was great value for the amount of food!

Boiling Crab is always a fun time! It's very spacious, clean, and all the workers were so nice. We got the oysters, lobster, shrimp, and sausage in the sha bang sauce. Everything was fresh and the flavor was so good. Parking is easy in the large lot.

Ask the Community - The Boiling Crab

    Is takeout available?

Yes - you order take out by calling or going to the restaurant.

Do they give an option where they crack open the crab for you?

Unfortunately no, they don't do it for you but they give you a tool for you to do it.

What's the average wait time for eating here around 7:30pm?

Depends on the day of the week. Most likely averaging 1.5 to 2 hours. They may not be able to get you seated..

Are they are vegetarian sides like rice, beans, or gumbo?

    yes

Is there an option for cleaned and de gutted shrimp?

Hi! The shrimp in our seafood boils are served whole and are “peel-and-eat.” If you prefer headless/peeled shrimp, you might enjoy our golden-fried shrimp basket!

Do you allow take out order for people coming past 7pm?

Due to lengthy wait times, the new Torrance location is temporarily not accepting takeout orders. We appreciate your patience and we’ll offer takeout orders soon!

Are we able to take a cake for a birthday celebration? Would you hold it in the kitchen/fridge for us?

    Can we do reservations?

Sorry, we do not take reservations. Seating is first available.

Do you have order online or phone?

Hi, you can place a takeout order by phone or walk-in.

The restaurant is very clean and organized. Our server was so sweet and welcoming. She walked us through the options and made recommendations based on our party. For a party of 3, we ordered one pound of shrimp, one pound of snow crab, and half pound of clams. The staff recommended mixing their sauces and it definitely hit the spot. The seafood was fresh and meaty and the garlicky, spicy sauce kicked the flavor up a notch. We also ordered a side of fries to share and the dip it came with was amazing as well. The price is very reasonable! It was definitely bang for your buck. They have happy hours that span a good chunk of the day so definitely take advantage of that. Will definitely be back to support a local small business.

The music was good and sports were available if that's your thing Cons: It took 30 minutes to receive our appetizers and at that time I was told they could not fulfill a portion of my order, I withdrew my order of rice and bang bang sauce. After 30 more minutes most of our order came out with the exception of the garlic bread. I was told that it takes a significant amount of time to make and asked if i wanted something else instead. I felt an hour for two burritos was excessive so declined adding anything else. Moments later my bread appeared. It took a full hour and some change to receive our order which I thought was unreasonable, especially since at this point we were the only patrons. Overall: Food was alright, reasonably priced, and portions were aligned with the price. However, I would recommend ordering ahead or anticipate a long wait time. When we went we were one of two patrons but it seemed they had a fair stream of take out orders. I frequent the area but do not live nearby and nothing caught my attention enough to return.

Look I would've given this place 3 stars, but the customer service and wait time was ridiculous. Hear me out, this is my experience from last Saturday. So first it can be challenging to find this place, since the pier has so many level to it. Look for the elevators. When you get there, for the first time, you see a main line, well for what? Then you see other lines, well for what? Then you see an oyster line, oh. In order to determine what each line is for, you have to do independent research. From whom? Well the employee, who do not show case any form of customer service. There were so many people lost and confused. To break it down, each "Order Here" has their own area of what can be ordered by the pound and/or cooked. So not all lines are equal. There is a crab line, seafood boil/pre-seasoned seafood, oyster, clams, I think I saw fish and fried platters, which was the longest. So after much deliberation, an employee managed to wrangle the customers to form a line. Although his mannerism seems like I'm just done with this place. One might consider ropes to further avoid these mundane confusions... I got Ana's seafood boil mix, $99. It came with a lobster, dungeoness crab, peeled shrimp, clams, sausage and potatoes. The employee told me about 10 mins. I'm like okaaaay, only 10? I walked to their souvenir shop, nothing crazy or must haves. Just cheap Chinese things with their name printed on. I return in 10 minutes. The guy doing prepping/expediting the pick order was in a frantic state. Older white male, white mustache. He was running around, mixing orders up, couldn't even tell what customers had what. The employee that wrangling folks came to help him collect himself. So 10 minutes wait turns to 15, 20, then 30 minutes. I had 2 other employees check up on my order, they said it's not ready. Okay. Finally about 35 minutes it's ready. He didn't even call out my order, I had to wave my ticket. The first rule of speed of service, never over sell the time. If it's gonnabe 30 mins plus, say 40 mins, gimme a bs reason, short handed, etc, I don't care! But why would you tell me it'll be 10 mins?! So finally got the food. Flavor was pretty good. Lobster, was okay. I wished the shrimp had the head on. Clams were big. Sausage was good. Potato seemed like the diced ones from a can, they were so small. The crab, however, is the driest. Yep, for a place that exclaims "Quality Seafood," it was kind've of a let down. They taste like the bottom batch of the crab at Las Vegas buffet. You know the batch that sits on the bottom, they don't ever rotate because the employees don't care. So it's just marinating in its own dry filth. The crab was so dry I could put that in an Advil bottle instead of cotton. So now if you ask me, would I come back? Maybe, just maybe. Anytime soon? Nah, not right now. Also with the mention of a tourist trap, it's no different than Seattle's Pike Place and surroundings.

Portions were generous because I was overly stuffed and still had plenty left over for the next day (which honestly might be the best part). Nothing like reheating a seafood boil and running it back. Thank you for hosting me and my guest -- we had such a good experience. I'll definitely be back for my next crab boil fix lol

I love me a good seafood boil and unfortunately this place was not that…read more The wait is long, prices are high, quality is below average, and flavor is lacking.... We waited for 30 minutes to be seated even though plenty of tables were open, waited another 30 minutes to place an order, waited another 40 minutes until the food came out. At least the decor was "cute" pretty standard for a seafood boil and had TVs. We got 3 pounds of shrimp with the flavor mix and the spiciest level of heat in addition to some Cajun fries. The seafood was so bland and the fries were so dry with little to no seasoning.

Luis was attentive throughout our meal and made sure to check on us regularly to ensure everything was perfect. The restaurant is definitely worth trying, especially because of its beautiful view overlooking the pier. The food was great, the service was outstanding, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be coming back!

I was attending a retirement luncheon here, so I can only speak to that event…read more Our company sponsored the luncheon, it was semi buffet style : servers portioned out salad, rice and beans and chicken fajitas. The tables were covered in linens and we had real cutlery- am glad it was nice for my boss who was retiring! There was unlimited tea or lemonade or fountain soda drinks. Easy valet or self - parking but $6 for valet is quite affordable. Nice view of the marina and some people watching from the event room we occupied. Audio and video equipment was working well for the speeches and other presentations. It's a cool drive through the hills to get to the marina. I didn't take a lot of photos of the space. Servers were attentive and friendly. Parking attendants were quick to bring out our cars.
