Come here for the almond croissants, they melt in your mouth. They also have good organic coffee. As for all the testy comments about masking and social distancing, well I go frequently and haven't experienced anyone not wearing a mask inside. People are free to choose not to go if they feel their vaccine is not protection enough but thats no reason to knock the food. read more

Sadly, we wanted to like this place but it just was lacking never even got greeted by the young lady at the front she didn't seem to really care I tried to make conversation but that went Nowhere. Although Darshan has our favorite almond croissants, and other delicious French baked goods, we will no longer patronize them. The "Staff Wears Masks" indicator on Yelp is inaccurate at the Del Mar location. When we went there today there was a sign that indicated that certain staff were exempted from wearing masks due to medical conditions and to "Enter at Your Own Risk"; which isn't a great way to start a food-related experience. The two unmasked/inadequately masked staff we saw were the ones serving customers. I don't know if/how this aligns with the San Diego Department of Health policy for restaurants but I do know that it doesn't align with my personal policy for a safe experience. It seems like the concept of asymptomatic spreading is unacknowledged here. Other Yelp reviews mentioned that Darshan's management are Plandemic supporters. While I didn't see reference to that, I did see an intentional disregard for the health and safety of customers and mask-wearing employees made more incredible in that it takes place in a time when the California health system is under siege with 0 ICU capacity. read more

Very disappointing that the employees are not all wearing face masks. They do not seem to be taking the pandemic seriously, which is selfish and it begs the question of whether they take food safety issues seriously either. This place is great! Me and my girlfriend stopped by before we went to the beach and grabbed two sandwiches a peach delight and an Indian chia latte and mango lassi, it was delicious !! The employees were sweet and helpful and they have a outside patio which is great for the Covid situation. Will be coming back for sure !! :) read more

This place is legit! Amazing croissants. I also bought a galette that was delicious. The only thing I didn't care for was the brewed coffee my husband ordered. My Americano was better, but I have a feeling it's espresso and cappuccinos that they do best. It's really easy to miss this place if you're not looking for it. I'm grateful to have been directed here by the staff at Zumbar (where they make a killer Americano). Overall a great find! read more

The neon sign is hard to see through the tinted glass, and you have to be going northbound on Camino Del Mar to get into the parking lot, but don't let that stop you from enjoying delicious, organic, beautifully made French pastries and sandwiches. Airline pricing policy Patisserie is a great addition to Del Mar. No question that the pastries are superior to any other cafe in town, this side of Champagne Bakery. Coffee is good and hot. I deduct two stars for pricing policy. Really nice croissant fresh out of the oven is a fairly-priced $3.50. But --- oh, you want butter? That will be an additional $.50 for a pat. And if you are gluttonous enough to want jam that will set you back another $1.75 for about 1/2 ounce. I predict resistance. read more

I was visiting Delmar, and taking a walk along the road early in the morning when I smelled the incredibly wonderful aroma coming from this place! It was the delay for smell of freshly baked French pastries, and I smelled it from several blocks away, making my way to the door. It was still early in the morning and they weren't yet open, They told me to come back and wow was it worthwhile! These were the best pastries I've had in a long long time. The people who work here are very sweet and they definitely have some delicious teas, but their food is very average, I'm afraid.

I am half French and I used to live in Paris. These are the best croissants outside of France period! They are famous for the almond croissant but I have a nut allergy do I stick to the classic croissant and can't help but get 3 of those and 1 chocolate croissant each time I stop by. A beautiful Easter morning, we left our hotel in search of coffee. Our favorite coffee place was closed so not knowing the area very well, we settled on a Starbucks. On our walk back, we realized Darshan's French Bakery was open and thought we'd grab a pastry before we head off to church. As we approached the counter, we were greeted by an employee who wasn't very welcoming, (we believe she was the owner). We placed our order for two pastries and she was clearly offended because my husband had a Starbucks cup. She was very bothered because we had a Starbucks cup. She offered to replace it with HER coffee which she said was much better but with such aggression and hostility, that we were honestly taken aback and trying to comprehend what was happening. She kept repeating, " I don't want you in my store with a Starbucks cup!" She seemed to be looking for a confrontation. Holy smokes! That's how you choose to speak to a guest? If that was a store policy, that should've been posted. And also, she could have said it in a kinder way. She was clearly a bully!! We just wanted a pastry and to be spoken to in this aggressive, hostile and confrontational manner was offensive, highly unprofessional, and honestly just plain mean. read more

The coffee shop /bakery on the East corner of 9 th and Coast highway is fabulous!!!! Patisserie Del Mar. I had a Breve Bombay latte made with chai type spices they grind themselves. It's my new favorite! Not overly sweet like most syrup-based flavorings. And we ordered a breakfast sandwich and a quiche. The quiche was what a quiche should taste like -- light and not tough or chewy or too eggy -- it was melt-in-your-mouth! The egg sandwich was on bread made this AM. Everything here is made in-house. I came here with my friend when we were absolutely ravenous and we had an amazing time. The almond croissant is the best croissant I've had in my life and my friend and I each got a sandwich which they panini pressed to make warm. We finished our meal with a delicious apple tart. The food was to die for and the woman working was so nice and helped us decide what dessert to get. The only critique I would give is the limited menu, there were only a few sandwiches and I would like a few more options but they did taste great and were even better after being heated. Really top rate pastries and sweets such as eclairs, fruit tarts, and small cakes. We shared with friends who had just returned from France, and they were transported right back. SO GOOD. And I'm very picky! Got 5 types of desserts and none were overly sweet or made my teeth hurt. They were also light and perfectly prepared. I usually get sick eating out with such a sensitive stomach but I had no problem! They were absolutely delicious and I downloaded this app just to share how nice it was!
