Had a warning light came on in our Mazda 3. Symptom was out of range temp. Thought to be water pump. Had it towed to DAS auto service. 3 hours later, our initial thoughts were confirmed. It was a water pump issue. Quoted $$ for both low pressure and high pressure water pumps. Next day, got a call back from DAS... Only the low pressure pump needed to be replaced, service fees got dropped less than 1/2. We went ahead and requested for other preventative services to be performed as well. Price came out to be only 2/3 of what original quote was. Overall experience, we were very satisfied with the thorough service and fair pricing. My wife's car battery light came on a Friday evening. She uses her car extensively for work so I looked up mechanics in the area that were opened on a Saturday, and DAS Auto came up highly rated. I gave them a call Saturday morning and spoke to La Lo. He was very helpful, pleasant, and very customer service oriented. I told him about the battery light and he asked if I could bring it in around 1pm since they were pretty booked that day. After bringing in the car, it took about 40 minutes until they were able to come up with a diagnosis for me - the alternator needed replacing. La Lo gave me a quote for the repair, and even did some research to see if he can get better pricing for the part, which he did. He saved me a few hundred dollars, which was much appreciated. He told me I would be able to credit the cost of the diagnosis ($85) towards the repair. I brought the car in for repair the following Tuesday (Monday was a holiday). My wife's car works great now, thanks to DAS Auto! From the initial call, to the in-person interaction, you could tell they care about their customers. Even hearing how they speak to other customers in their shop, they're very honest about the repair (La Lo even told one customer the cost of his repair and that more than likely they might find other things wrong if they went through with it). Joe is the best mechanic- we've been coming to see him for years! However, my partner made the mistake of letting his father take the car to a neighbor to get the brakes fixed and, as expected on my end, the car was in horrible condition just a few months later. I hit up Joe asking if he could run diagnostics and he was able to make time for us to come in immediately. We left the car with him to troubleshoot and he called us within the hour to let us know the brake discs and pads needed to be replaced and he found a mistake the previous neighbor "mechanic" made when attempting to fix our brake problem. I don't usually leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience with Das Auto. My Audi was dealing with an OBD monitor issue that was preventing it from passing smog. A previous shop had taken my car on a 130-mile "diagnostic drive," only to come back with an inaccurate diagnosis, a $400 charge for the "test", and costly estimates for additional parts and repairs I didn't actually need. Das Auto had my car smog-ready in under two hours. They gave me a clear explanation of what was actually wrong--and even clarified that some of the other recommendations I'd received weren't necessary at the moment. I called them early morning to ask if they allowed any walk-ins and they said yes. I can definitely tell they get busy, so I highly recommend setting up and appointment! When I got there, they were super nice to me and let me know that my car would be done in an hour. I sat in their waiting room and my car was done before I knew it. In the 35 minutes I was sitting in the waiting room, 5 other people showed up after me. I definitely recommend setting up an appointment with them because I could easily see a customer waiting at least 4 hours for their vehicle since they have exceptional customer service. Their garage and waiting room is clean, and the men that work there are nice and are pretty laid back. All-in-all, my car was great, came back the way I left it, and the guys there were nice to me. I was given a $600+ quote for a less than $80 job, and based on my last experience, I will not bring my car back. I bought the parts from Amazon after going to Auto Zone and doing some research. I found a shop nearby that changed the $25 part for $60. I saved myself a hefty price tag by taking my time and asking the right people the right questions. I don't feel comfortable trusting them to Diagnose and give an honest quote. Please ask questions about the cost of parts and labor. I respect everyone's service cost, but something is seriously wrong when two different mechanical shops tell me the quote was highly overpriced and they could do it for less than $100. read more

I've taken my car here 3xs. First two times, the work was done fine. Only complaint is lack of care about getting oil on rugs, while working on cars. I'm sure my situation isn't the norm because my interior is all white cream, including the rugs. So first few times took it to the dealer to detail the oil stains. The last visit will be final visit. The mechanical service appeared fine. They did a service B, replaced the auxiliary battery and replaced the emergency brake that was getting stuck. While handling above items I get a call back brakes also needed. Major problem with the last visit is two fold: #1) There were 2 other women in the shop when I came in and it just seemed odd (not impossible, but suspect) that all 3 of us were told we needed new brakes. I don't know about the other drivers, but I don't drive my car that much and it's regularly getting serviced. This made me say,'Humm, not sure". #2) The following week I took my car in for the Dmv smog. I've never had any problems with the car or the smog process. This time was different. They couldn't run the diagnostic because the cable part wasn't where it was supposed to be. This led another shop showing me a few areas that were not secure and it of alignment. After returning to DAS.. they addressed the areas that were related to their repairs. It really should have been handled with the work done. One area was a large screw under the steering wheel. I really hadn't notified the screw which was half in and half out, but I had noticed the car sadly driving as smoothly as normal. After securing as it should have been originally... the car is now back to the normal smooth handling. At the end of the day, sloppy workmanship on a $2,000 job. And those were just items I could see, which impeded the smog. Not Impressed... read more

I was very impressed from the very initial messages between Quan and I, as he was very responsive, all the way through my drive home from getting my car repaired here. I've been coming to this place for many years now, since when they were located at the gas station up the street. I never had an issue, prices have always been fair and service was always what/ how it should be. One thing many people are skeptical about is when shops tell them about "things to do in the car" and they feel it could be made up. I never had this problem here! As a matter of fact, every time I've been there and they recommended something, it was stuff that I already knew that I had to take care of (for example brakes needing to be changed etc). This is the 10/10 service I've been waiting for! From booking the appointment, to check-in, and check-out, the service was smooth and easily understandable. About 30 minutes after check-in, I received a call with the estimate for the day and what would be done. I requested a thermostat change and coolant flush, which was doable, and the mechanic recommended a transmission fluid change as well. They explained exactly why this was needed specifically for my car, something no mechanic has done for me before without asking. The pricing was more than reasonable and very affordable. I agreed to the services and was informed to come collect my car about 4 hours after that call. Previously, I had gone to a mechanic I thought would have my best interest in mind because they were a referral from my partner's family that had been using them for 10+ years. Unfortunately, this was not the case and I felt scammed by them from multiple visits looking back. I was quoted nearly double the price of what I paid at Das, for the same thermostat change and coolant flush as well as an oil change. The breaks on my Acura were making a grinding noise for some time, but I didn't notice this, because the ELS stereo is usually blaring. One day, I heard the sound and knew the breaks needed service. I went on Yelp, looked around for a local shop, and found DAS Auto Service. It's an extremely well run business. I peeked into the garage, and it's so clean and organized, you could eat off the floor. I know other people who got screwed on break service, paying $1200+ for back break pads and rotors. These guys did it for $425. Not only was the price right, but they did the work quickly. I brought my car in at 1pm and was home by 3:30. These guys have my patronage for as long as I live in Daly City. They don't do everything, but they do a lot more than you'd expect. read more

Been a repeat customer. Quan is one of the honest mechanics. Been taking my VW Tiguan to him for a few minor/major issues. This last visit dealt with oil pressure fault which was a minor fix. He previously recommended me to do my timing chain service at 120k miles since I brought up an oil leak at the timing cover which has been going on for quite a few years. So I had him proceed. Went to pick up car and he told me there was a coolant leak from one of the hoses and should be a quick fix while I wait.
