I went on Yelp, looked around for a local shop, and found DAS Auto Service. It's an extremely well run business. I peeked into the garage, and it's so clean and organized, you could eat off the floor. I know other people who got screwed on break service, paying $1200+ for back break pads and rotors. These guys did it for $425. Not only was the price right, but they did the work quickly. I brought my car in at 1pm and was home by 3:30. Been a repeat customer. Quan is one of the honest mechanics. Been taking my VW Tiguan to him for a few minor/major issues. This last visit dealt with oil pressure fault which was a minor fix. He previously recommended me to do my timing chain service at 120k miles since I brought up an oil leak at the timing cover which has been going on for quite a few years. So I had him proceed. Went to pick up car and he told me there was a coolant leak from one of the hoses and should be a quick fix while I wait. I called in to schedule an appointment for a simple oil change and regular inspection of my vehicle. Nothing crazy. The guy over the phone was easy to work with. I was pretty excited to try this place out since there are a ton of great reviews. For my oil change, they charged 70 bucks, which is I guess the standard now. The reason why I was disappointed is because everything felt super impersonal. They took my car and a short while later, I was handed my keys and that was it. I then asked if there was any feedback on my car like if they noticed I needed to get maintenance done or whatever. For context, the last auto shop I used to go to all the time always updated me on the status of my car like if I needed maintenance. The guy said no. I thought ok, well that's good. So I hopped back into my car and drove off. A few days later, my tire pressure lights turn on. When I checked the pressure on my tires, all of them were below PSI. My old shop I used to go to always made it a point to top off tire pressure and check the fluids of the cars to ensure nothing was low or needed repairs. It just felt really bad. There was nothing wrong with the oil change and my car runs fine, but the whole customer service experience felt really impersonal and the fact that they didn't bother to at least do a maintenance check or top off fluids or check tire pressure just soured my experience here. They get the job done if nothing else. read more

My car's "check engine" light came on recently, and I took it in to Serramonte Ford. The mechanic said that it was an emissions problem, that I had a leak at the fuel pump assembly near the right side of the fuel tank, and that it would cost $3,200 to repair. I said "No, thank you," looked online for a well-regarded mechanic, and chose DAS. Thank goodness. The mechanic there told me that I had a worn gas cap, which he replaced for a grand total of $28. Since then I've driven 225 miles, the light has never come back on, and the car passed its smog check today. I saved $3,172 by going to DAS. It will be my mechanic shop from here on out. read more

I asked them to do a compression test , check the spark plug and log fuel and smoke the intake they agreed, but when I got my car back they did a visual inspection and smoked only the evap system , wasted $170 , now I have to buy a scan tool to check the fuel system and have to buy a compression tool and perform the checks myself, but they have a good nose they can smell your clutch, well I can smell scam stay away. read more

Great experience at this shop. I had some repairs done on my car at another shop. One of the O2 sensors were replaced. Despite it being a new sensor. The check engine light kept coming on. I needed to get my car smogged so it was urgent that I get this fixed. I took it back to this shop and they worked on it and after getting my car back a few days later the check engine light comes on. Same problem. I called DAS and spoke to Lalo. One of the first questions he asked was "Did your guy install an aftermarket sensor? Those are known to cause problems". I checked my receipt and did some research and he was right. It was an aftermarket part. I called a few other shops and this was the only place that pointed me in the right direction. I brought in my car to DAS at 830am on a tuesday. Exceptional service and responsiveness. I called and they answered after only a couple rings and I was able to set up an appointment for the next week. I dropped off my car to get my brakes checked. After a couple of hours they called to notify me that my car was ready. My brakes actually ended up not needing to be replaced and even though a checkup costs about $85 they didn't charge for it. The only thing to note is that their parking lot is tiny and if it's busy it may be hard to get out. I suggest going as soon as they open, the earlier the better. read more

I'm glad I did because they are now my continued go to shop even after I've moved from down the street to several miles away. Why? Because I trust them and I value their honesty and hard work. The guys here are super down to earth. They aren't trying to up-sell you on crap your car doesn't need. They're pretty straight forward and give you reasonable pricing. I appreciate that so much because it's really hard to find a repair place you can really trust. For example, I remember I had an insane quote from the dealership and I came to Das and asked them for their pricing, and if I needed this and that repair like the dealership said I did. Das Auto was straight forward and said that some quoted items from the dealership may not even be necessary but they would definitely check on those parts for me to make sure they are still in working order or really worn/torn. So my sportage has hit that age when things start to need replacing. Car parts, regardless of make, model or usage, age and break down. Not unlike people. Our sportage is affectionately named, The Black Beauty, I'll reference her as BB from this point forward. So our family likes a cool ride so we use our AC all the time - all the time.... So when we started to notice that the AC was no longer pumping out cold air, there was some concern. I use Yelp to point me to a car doctor that can diagnose and repair AC. We get pointed to DAS Auto. I make the appointment and bring her in. They tell me it's the condenser and recommend I replace the compressor at the same time. So first of all, kudos for the honesty. Respect! They could've just told me they both "needed" to be replaced but they didn't. Next I do what any self respecting car owner should do and I called around to do a price check - condenser/compressor repair is NOT cheap! I soon realize the price they quoted was very VERY fair! 1/3 the price from the dealer and 1/2 the price I'm getting from other independent repair shops.... Wwwhhhaaattt?!? Honest and fair price? Only thing left to determine is quality... I make the appointment for BB and bring her in. Of course I'm nervous, will she be ok, will she be the same or like a pro quarterback who gets an Achilles tear, will she never be the same? So it's a one day surgery so all I can do is trust the car doc and try to forget about it. Next morning I'm coming to the shop to pick her up and as I jump out of my Uber, the alarm starts going off almost like she's excited to see me! I go inside, pay the super friendly guy at the front take the keys and immediately turn of the alarm. I start up BB and listen to her roar as i kick the AC to max. Immediately I feel the cold refreshing air - just like Mother Nature intended!!!! DAS hit the price point, ethical standards and bedside manner I expect for my hard earned $'s. I had a great experience with DAS Auto Service from end to end! GETTING A QUOTE: The poor, neglected car that I've been driving for about 16 years was suffering from a passenger door that didn't open from the outside and was starting to make a screeching sound when applying the brakes. I used Yelp to ask local auto services for quotes and DAS Auto Service responded the most promptly with the most reasonable price. Other businesses gave me one word answers, but these guys are very good with customer service in their messaging and provided helpful information. SERVICES/COST: They had to remove the whole door off my car and ended up replacing the brake pads and brake disc rotors along with fixing the door mechanism, resulting in a total of $545. They also changed my oil. While that sounds like a staggering amount, it was much cheaper than some of the other quotes I got on Yelp! (others quoted me up to $800 for the same exact services!) PROCESS: I checked in my car at 1pm and they were done with everything from diagnosing the issue to fixing everything by 4:30pm, which is pretty good considering they had other customers when I got there. The staff was all friendly from point of quote on Yelp through taking down info, calling to alert me for pickup, and taking payment. Everyone wore masks, they had hand sanitizer for customers, used a plastic shield at checkout, and accepted contactless payments. All very reassuring and appreciated during the pandemic! TADAH: After just a quick visit to this place, my passengers can now get in my car, and one that no longer makes horror-movie screeching sounds. You also have to patch it. Did they expect me to leave on a flat tire once they had removed it? Be more clear to your clients what you can do and what you can't. I've came to this shop for a total of 2 times. The first time was to do some relatively simple maintenance on my car. The second time was to fix a fault code. It was this second time that soured my experience with this shop. Yeah, they fixed the fault code by replacing a sensor, but the workmanship was so poor: 1. They damaged the driver-side door interior leather trim and didn't want to admit responsibility. 2. They left a different sensor half-plugged in (not fully plugged in) that caused a different fault code later, which I fixed myself. Overall, if you just want to do some simple maintenance and not worried about potential damages done to your car, I guess they are fine, but I wouldn't come here again. read more

The reviews don't lie. My recommendation to you is to not buy a bmw with over 100k miles on it. So now that you own your 4-8 year old shiny Benz or bmw and the factory warranty just ran out, bring it to Das auto. They do great, honest work and you'll save thousands of dollars every time you need work on your euro car, and it'll be often. They got my e46 to 230k miles.
