DD is pricey but its the only nail salon i will go to for mani pedis in BK because its clean. I've been to all the Brooklyn locations, the 8th street Manhattan location and the greenvale, long island location and i think that that the seventh ave DD is the best one. The salon is designed well and the employees are friendly, young, quick and do good work. When they fix a nail for me they do a quality job and they arent pushy with their services. Dont bank on finding a parking spot if you drive and it isnt that close to a subway line. I cant speak on their waxing services because i go elsewhere for that (check out my other reviews to see where). read more

I just found out today that the workers (mainly women) get no health insurance, sick leave or paid vacation. For a business that charges more than any other salon in the neighborhood, this is disgraceful. I give four stars for the quality of the work but one star for the owners! read more

Went in without an appointment and I was seen immediately. Mandy, a lovely young woman was assigned to me and she was efficient, professional and friendly! I got a Spoiled Diva pedicure, A spoiled diva manicure, eye brows, lip and chin, total 109.00 which in my opinion was a bargain. My feet were seriously in pain, I was cranky with a brand new pair of sandals that needed to be broken into and my back was killing me prior to walking into this great little spot on Seventh Ave. as soon as I sat down I felt so much better. I was offered tea, which I declined but it was nice to be asked! Once I settled in the magic started. As Mandy gently removed my old polish, I could feel myself relaxing, by the time she finished an hour and change later, I was falling asleep...I could barely contain my very sleepy yawn when while doing my amazing mani another lovely girl came and whispered in my ear that she would be giving me a complementary back massage....that woke me up immediately! Back massage, free, say no more! Well that was the BEST free massage ever! I am sold, yes it's pricey but I am so worth it....Everything they use is disposable and for single use so nothing nasty touches you! That alone makes it worth it, I no longer need to worry about proper sanitizing of products. No more nightmares for me thinking I'm going to get a nail fungus of some sort the way some salons take care of their tools. Not here, Dashing Diva is know for the use of individual tools such as files, bufferes, etc. the place was clean and nice! The staff friendly and efficient. Best Tip, Take Cash, they also have an ATM you can use for .99 cents for up to 200. If you pay in cash they give you a10% Dashing Diva card which you can use for services once you accumulate 20.00 which is an even better incentive to continue using them. Disappointed with my most recent experience here. I came here specifically for a long lasting manicure that wouldn't damage my nails as much as other gel manicures. I was planning to get the Gelife but also saw a listing for Virtual Nails and asked the front desk woman which one would be better. She barely offered an answer and so I decided, on my own, to just go with the Gelife, even though it was more expensive. So she sat me down, I picked a color and my nail tech got started. It wasn't until half way through the prep that I started asking questions about what it was that protected my nails from the gel polish. The tech seemed confused and explained that no, this doesn't have a special step, that's something else. I asked her about the Gelife, which is what I asked for at the desk and saw listed in the service menu AND advertised in a big poster in the window and she told me that this location doesn't have that available. Well, I was confused and disappointed, but, you know, I wanted to get a gel manicure anyway and was already started, so I thought maybe I'll save some money because now I wasn't getting the 'fancy' gel manicure. Nope. When I went to pay, the totally was $45 (plus tax). The front desk lady explained that all their gel manicure were the same price. Now, I can see why the Gelife would be more expensive (and would be worth the money because of the extra step to protect the nails), but that much for a regular gel manicure? I could have gone down the street and gotten the same outcome for like $15 less! Don't get me wrong: my nail tech was great, but I don't appreciate requesting one service and then receiving another. If the front desk woman would have been honest with me upfront, I probably would have gone for the Virtual Nails or just gone some place else, where a regular gel manicure doesn't cost so much. I feel like I've been duped and that's not something I like feeling. Unless you know exactly what you want, I wouldn't suggest going here, which is kind of a bummer because I have had other good services at Dashing Divas in the past. read more

Dashing Diva at this location has been great for me mostly. There are just a few ladies there that seem to be very unhappy to be giving service to customers - the cuticle cutting is aggressive, the hand massage is quick, the foot filing is barely there and the face....why so serious? Other than that, most of the nail techs are very polite, caring and smiley. The quality of the manicure and pedicure is pretty good. Don't be afraid to direct them. read more

I knew I loved this place the minute I sat down and the receptionist asked "Can I get you water, tea.. we're also serving cosmos." Shortly after receiving my drink, I was brought over to the super cozy pink pedicure sofa area. Sara was my nail technician and she was super sweet and VERY diligent. I loved the smell of the scrubs and lotions, and I liked that they give you an option to choose your scent (I chose lavender). The pedicure lasted about 30 minutes and then I went over for my spoiled diva manicure. Again, Sara was very precise and nice enough to start a conversation with me (something I feel is very rare at nail salons). The spoiled diva manicure is full of sugar scrubs, massage oils and a lovely smelling lotion. I think I was at the salon for a little over an hour and it was the best nail experience I've had to date. The only thing I disliked were the steep prices (but trust me, you are getting what you pay for!!). I highly recommend going if you're willing to spend a little more than the average price. Oh! And one other great thing is that you can earn 5% back on a Dashing Diva card if you pay with cash. I will be going back! read more

My daughter and I went in to get pedicures today and we were so impressed. The ladies that worked on us went above and beyond to make sure our feet were looking and feeling great. We got the "spoiled" package that included leg massage, neck massage, and fun lotions. It was such a relaxing experience. I have been going to this salon weekly for a year. The young lady who did all of my manicure pedicures was absolutely amazing - technical skills beyond reproach, but also charming, articulate, thoughtful. She made every experience completely relaxing and enjoyable, and I looked forward to it each week. The salon also employed a young lady who, among other things, gave complimentary five minute neck and upper back massages during the manicure. This was another great part of my weekly experience, and really meaningfully differentiated this salon. Today when I arrived for my weekly services I knew immediately that something had changed dramatically for the worse. My usual lady was not there, and no explanation was offered. I was told that the five minute massage had been discontinued. Turns out that in the week since my last visit new owners took over and oh my goodness what a change for the worse. The new owner pretended he was just the front desk guy so no idea who works there now, an obvious lie. The workers, many of whom I did not recognize as I suspect they have started firing people, were visibly tense and uncomfortable. There is lots I could say here about what I suspect is going on, but I will deal with that in another venue as YELP is not the forum. What I can say which is directly in the wheelhouse of a consumer review is that I will never again visit this salon because the quality of work has visibly declined and the atmosphere is tense and abominable. This place is great. I have been here three times, and the results are just as I requested. It is VERY clean. I like how they wash their hands before they start. Also, they request that i wash my hands 2 times during the whole process. The tools are disinfected, and their files and buffers are brand new for each person. Workers are not yapping away. I feel totally ripped off. I walked into this place not even looking at the prices because I needed a manicure for a special occasion and figured it had to be somewhat reasonable.. i should have known It wasn't going to be good when I said I wanted an eyebrow wax and the woman behind the counter turned to a young employee and asked if she wanted to do it and she shook her head no.. making me feel very uneasy about letting one of these people adjust my facial features. idk why I stayed after that honestly. Surprisingly though, I was very pleased with the service and then I got my bill - $55 for a gel manicure and an eyebrow wax! I was floored. And as I was writing my tip in and signing my receipt the woman who helped me was watching me and then made a face when she saw the amount. I had high expectations of this place based on friend's reviews and its favorable reputation. It's right down the street from my daughter's school, so I really wanted to love it (would have been so convenient). It's pricey, but if the treatment is worth it then that's fine with me. However, my first pedicure was mediocre (quick and barely any callous removal). I decided to go back and upgrade to a more expensive pedicure. It lasted much longer but was simply disastrous. The pedicurist put some sort of chemical solution on my heels (I presume to soften the skin) that was very harsh. I believe you're supposed to really scrub the skin afterward, but she barely touched my feet. I was left with unsightly, dry, cracked heels that were MUCH rougher than they had been before the pedicure! I had to use a pumice stone three times at home to get my feet back to normal. Worst of all, the pedicurist was very aggressive with the little cuticle clippers and cut my skin in four places (add nail polish remover to these little cuts and they STING like crazy). I wish I could say this place was worth the $90 I spent on a manicure + pedicure + tip, but it was truly awful. read more

This review is just for the bikini waxing services at Dashing Diva on 7th Ave in Brooklyn, specifically, a Brazilian wax. Well ladies, it's hard to find the words to tell you how BAD an experience this was!!! If this had been my first Brazilian wax I would have left here cursing South America and vowing never to return! Luckily I've previously been taken care of elsewhere (see my other reviews) so I know it doesn't have to be this long, painful, and messy! My technician broke every rule of waxing: (1) she used no gloves; (2) she double-dipped; (3) it took her way too long, over half an hour, whereas my usual technician at another place takes about 15 minutes; (4) she even giggled when I winced at the pain. Let me emphasize, this was SO PAINFUL, even though I had put on a topical painkiller cream with lidocaine before going. AND, even worse: (6) she did a bad job - the regrowth was very quick, and (7) I got so many ingrown hairs, and pain and itchiness for weeks thereafter! Oh yeah, and to add insult to injury (literally) - it was more pricey than my usual place! Save yourself and your wallet a lot of pain and discomfort - JUST DON'T DO IT! read more

Wow. There are so many things I am annoyed with right now. First of all, it's a complete rip off. They're masquerading as a spa, but it's just a sub par nail salon. A super basic, 35min mani/pedi cost $52, before tip. The pedi area looks cool but it's not comfortable, and the tub for your feet doesn't have a jet system. Half the reason why I get pedi's is to relax in the massage chair and tub jets. She didn't remove any of the dead skin from the bottom of my feet, left soap residue on my legs and feet, and applied no pressure whatsoever during the "massage". Also, you and your manicurist have to use hand sanitizer prior to your mani. I can see how some germ freaks might appreciate that, but I just thought it was awkward. They give free tea and coffee, speak English, and use aromatics, which were all nice, but it definitely didn't make up for the very basic elements in which they lacked. I'll never return. Thanks, but I'll go to a "regular" nail salon for way better quality than this pseudo spa experience. read more
