We're very satisfied with Dassel and for the past 3 years every interaction has been great. The person answering the phone is super helpful and each delivery person was friendly & efficient. They always refill our tank before we run out of gas, easy breezy. Usually we're home but not always. In any case everything goes well and we've never had a problem. This company is NOT user friendly. They sell you devices to monitor your tank level but then don't fill the tank in a timely manner. Most importantly they harrass you for payment. They called me on the phone on New Year's Eve asking for a $75 yearly Tank rental fee. I asked them to send me an invoice and then promptly paid that invoice within 7 days. They then sent me an email requesting payment and did not refill my tank causing me to be without hot water, and heat. Because of their aggressive billing I overpaid twice in the past year which then had to be refunded. read more

Their service is the worst! I'm on their "auto refill" program and never have they ever refilled my tank without me having to call multiple times. Once my tank gets below 30% I have to call them and request a refill. Several weeks past and they still don't refill my tank. I have to call multiple times leave messages with their answering service, and even request a callback from the person in charge. I never get a call back, the person in charge is very irresponsible never calls back not one single time, and then when my tank gets below 20% almost 15% then they finally show up to refill. I done get a person when I call and have to leave a message with answering service and no one calls me back. We ran out of propane, called Dassels. They send someone out within three hours fill the tank and re-let everything in the house. The technician was Patti gear. She was the truck driver and the person that re-lit and tested the tank. She did an outstanding job thank you Patty, for being prompt, professional, polite, and so courteous to my mother and my aunt Bea. They never keep up with their schedules, never in time with the promised service times but if for any reason you need "an urgent" delivery for sure they will charge you everything possible to make money. I canceled my account with them almost two weeks ago and I still have their tank sitting out side my gate and they don't have anyone available for pick up until the 26!!! Horrible service I had service with this company for years and always had problems with them, delivering to the wrong tank, always late deliver where we would run out of propane. But this last time on 12/03/2024 I went to their office and ask for $500 of propane to be deliver and they said the only way they would deliver is if I paid for full tank. I explain I wanted to pay prepaid and that I was going to move next year I did not need a full tank, and they said no. I am going to be without a water heater and no heat this winter tanks to their policies. I think this is not right but what can I do on the mean time I will look for alternatives since I have small kids at home, and I need heat on the house. I believe a utility company should not deny service specially if I am offering to pay ahead. I believe they county and city leaders should look into this company practices because I am not the only one writing a bad review. The reviews truly reflect their bad service. Worst service eve. They nickel and dime you i've had service with them for several years and always have done partial fills recently rules have changed (also i'm a will-call which means i pay before they come out ) last time i was told they do not do partial fills any longer and i would need to pay for a full fill ($1100) that was when i started looking else where. I would not recommend this company as they are not consistent with their policies and procedure. Today i called and NOW they do offer partial fills and because i am out of propane they are charging an extra $300 for a partial fill for them to come out. We've had dazzles for four years since we moved to Hollister and have not had any issues. Our driver is very friendly and courteous and we are on a first name basis with him. I've had issues where I came close to running out and made a phone call and they made arrangements to have a driver come out the same day. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE from office staff, schedulers and dispatchers. I am set up on "auto delivery". In January they let me run out completely because according to them they had to pull the driver off my delivery to go do an "emergency" delivery and forgot to put me back on the schedule!! So my tank was completely empty on New Years Day. Now I have called 3 times since last week to let them know my tank is below 30% and I want it filled so I don't run out again. I was told on Friday they did not have a Hollister driver, but would deliver on Saturday. Well, today is Monday and still no propane!! I called and they "can't get a hold of the dispatcher" so will have to call me back. My last delivery was 5 mos ago!! I asked if I could be put on an every 3 month delivery and was told they could not guarantee it. NOT happy !!!!! read more

We've noticed a decline in customer service. They used to be more regular with filling our tank, but now it frequently gets in the red zone and we have to call to get a delivery (which was on auto fill). Also, they sent out an invoice for the tank renewal, which I just received, but when I called to get our tank filled, they said it was past due and insisted on a credit card number before filling our tank. Have been a customer for 14 years. In 2022 there was a marked downturn in service with our "always full" plan failing 3 times...meaning we ran out of gas completely. We are currently at under 20% gas level (which with our old tank means we are about to run out) and I have called 4 times in two weeks to get a refill with absolutely no results. I am always directed to their "answering service" who says they will pass on the message, and yet no one shows up! I have tried to be patient and understanding throughout their apparent staffing crisis, but with 30 degree temps outside and the threat of no heating for my family it is now time for a new supplier. The delivery drivers are great and do a good job. The office staff and management suck. I've made multiple phone calls over a two week period to get my tank filled and all I got was a busy signal or the answering service which is answering during business hours. I waited to update my review until we had gotten through December, as that was always when we were left with no gas. I believe that management has changed for Dassels, and since then, we have not run out of gas once all year. They come regularly every month, fill up our tank, and the only way we have known that they have come is a bill on our gate. The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. I had signed up for auto ship, I would send in the payment as soon as I received an invoice, often times just sending in money before getting the invoice because they allowed my tank to run dry 5 times!!! Then charged me extra. The billing was below average and Patty the delivery technician is rude and unprofessional. Trisha in the office is also extremely rude and unprofessional. They don't bill you efficiently and then treat you as if you aren't paying your bills. I would send in $700 payments to try and avoid them skipping my refill. Then they wouldn't send an invoice and then hold my refill without any communication. read more

I have never seen such poor service from a propane company as Dassels. Ever since they were bought out by a bigger company they have declined precipitously. Last year I ran out of propane because several of their drivers did not deliver any and never informed me. The company too did not follow through and notify me. I ran out of propane and they took an extra week before delivery. They were supposed to waive the tank charges and accrued interest but did not. Today I was trying to pay for my tank rental and order more gas and they declined to service me. Now I will have to get a new gas company. I am upset! read more

I have been a long time customer and I lease my tank so I am stuck with Dassel's I am writing this review at 8:15 am Monday as I wait in the phone queue with 9 people ahead of me. I am calling because we are out of propane AGAIN. I am set for auto delivery and I have told them we need a delivery during the winter every month, Four weeks not five. I continue to run out of fuel now that they took over my previous supplier, Pacific Propane. Pacific Propane used a satellite to inform them when clients are low on fuel but Dassels does not provide that essential service. When I asked them to check the lines for a leak the response was 'pretty good'. What does that mean? A pretty good leak or pretty good as in not leaking bad? WTF??? Woke up this morning freezing getting ready to call a plumber thinking our heater went out. Come to find out we have no propane!! WTF. CREDIT ON MY ACCOUNT,, No one showed up last month to service. I feel anyone in our position should contact Calif. Utility Commission and report them. Would they do this to disable or elderly? Their license should be looked at I'm seeing others complain about the same thing. I'm sure my complaint will fall on deaf ears. Wow! It's the end of January 2022. Cold nights in the Santa Cruz Mountains. We're supposed to have our propane tank checked on a regular basis. However, I had my husband check it out 4 days ago: 29 %. The answering service said, it's not an emergency. So I keep calling, mostly the answering service - during 'business hours'. Once got through and was told 3 days ago they would let the dispatch know. Tonight - after many attempts to call - now the phone is busy constantly - the tank gets more empty and still no propane. I can not express how bad this company is. The first time we ran out of propane even with the air sensor my husband was dying of cancer and our house was frezzing cold. He was made even more uncomfotable due to their negligence. This is totatally unexcitable way to run a company that is responable for basic propane needs. After talking to the answering service I got call back from a uncaring man saying there was nothing they could do. Way to take care of your customers. I have been a customer of Dassels for 12 years and just a few years ago would have given them a better rating, but unfortunately their service has fallen through the cracks since changing owners. I find it super unprofessional on their part to not return calls and not be on top of filling tanks when they have been requested and made clear through a contract.
