Stopped by on a weeknight for dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the dope vibes! The place was jumping and they had line dancing going on which was fun to watch. The food came out piping hot and quickly, everything tasted good. We ordered corn fritters, hush puppies and a fried shrimp appetizer to start. The hush puppies were the star of the appetizers for me. For my meal I ordered the combo catfish and fried wings (lemon pepper hot) which came with fries. The wings were and fried to perfection. Stopped by for a quick carry-out when I was in the area. Clean, friendly staff. Byrd greeted me and was awesome. She helped me with my questions on the menu and selections. Ordered their famed Cajun shrimp basket. Got the 20 piece for $50. Delicious l! Food was pretty good!! My only complaint is them overcharging for every little thing. My meal came with 4 wings and fish. To get all flats for just 4 wings was an up charge of 6$ which is pretty ridiculous considering 2 of them were probably already going to be flats. They charge for ranch even if you don't want the sauce that they give you( Jalepeno house sauce). Shrimp was nicely seasoned but the catfish could've had more season! read more

The restaurant was surprisingly staffed by just one waitress, yet it drew a lively crowd of retirees. I sipped on a frozen drink that was more ice than liquid, craving something substantial. I ordered a thick, juicy burger with crispy fries while others danced to hits from the 80s and 90s. As the evening progressed, a live band started playing around 10 pm, filling the air with great music. I just so happened to find this place when doing a search for restaurants. The atmosphere was a refreshing surprise. From the moment we entered, we were greeted and seated. Our waitress was phenomenal! She was attentive and really took care of us. Our food came out hot and was seasoned very well. I was torn with the rating for this place. We arrived at 7:18 pm on Saturday. The server finally came to our table at 7:43. We placed our drink and food order at the same time. Drinks came about 5 mins later. We ordered two combos (fish and wings and fish and shrimp). We didn't see our server again for about 40 mins. While we were waiting we watched a couple of the employees get on the dance floor dancing and popping their fans, which they later tried to sell to the patrons. Our sever finally came back at 8:35 with the wrong order. When we told her it wasn't what we ordered, she challenged us like we wrong. Five mins later a different server came back with one combo then quickly disappeared. No words said; no apologies, no acknowledgement, nothing. Our original server kept walking by very briskly several times avoiding eye contact. It was too loud to call her name so we had to wait until she looked our way. It took another 10 mins to get her attention to tell her we were still missing a meal. She disappeared and came back about 4 mins later with the other combo. We asked for to go boxes because we were just done. Again, no apologies or anything. Never asked if we wanted anything else. She was quick to give us our bill, however. We paid but didn't leave immediately because there was a live band that was very good. We paid about $100 for the food and drinks. The food was actually good although it was incredibly late and not hot. If we come back, we'll eat somewhere else and only come for the entertainment. We absolutely loved this place from the moment we walked in. We received a very warm reception when we walked in. Our drink order was taken within 5 minutes of us being there. Our hostess was extremely friendly & took our order as soon as we were ready. The food order came out much sooner than we expected & everything was delicious!!!! I loved the catfish & shrimp! They had a great crunchy batter & the inside was cooked perfectly! Also, the fish was real catfish & not swai! Loved the seasoning! The fries were good & the chicken wings & were typical. We loved the decor & the music gave a wonderful vibe! My hubby liked everything & cleaned his plate of fish & shrimp. We will definitely be back!!! I visited this location with a large group , which I'll never organize us to come here again! It wasn't the food, it wasn't even the service from our amazing servers. It was the attitude /behavior of what I thought was "the manger" only to find out she was the owner. I watched how she mishandled and talked to her employees (on the floor), never making contact with customers etc. Definitely not a business I'd plan to spend money at again! I went here around 2p since a lot of reviews mentioned the wait time. I figured that time of day would be safe. I ordered takeout online and the food was ready when I arrived. No wait time and no crowd. I'm sure it's different at night especially since they have live music. I ordered the catfish and shrimp combo along with peach cobbler. It was not bad but not worth me driving to Duncanville. I was told there was no cobbler, so I settled for the strawberry cake. It was meh. My husband and I had early lunch today. Never have eaten there before. And I was curious to taste their take on Cajun, having moved her from New Iberia, Louisiana some years ago. Here's my take. The blacked out front windows give the place a "gentleman's club' feel before you open the door. (What WAS this place???) Frankly, I could not tell if it was open for business. The restaurant itself is large and boasts room for a good crowd although we were thee only customers (at Noon sharp.) There was a reception area and a menu on the wall behind. No print menus in sight. We were asked to order and pay up front, which we did. Then we chose our booth from a room full of empty surrounded by at least 10 large TVs showing sports. I wasn't aware that this was a 'sports bar.' The TVS were almost silent and music was playing over a sound system. I wasn't aware a bit off put by the incongruity of the music and TVs. But the music was of the relaxing genre and not annoying. In the emptiness it was somewhat comforting. The receptionist was also the server, the only server. She gave us drinks in styrofoam cups, and within a short time were served our lunch. I liked the food, but it was all served in styrofoam containers and we were only given a fork. I would have likes a knife for the salad and spoon for stirring my tea, which I ordered unsweetened without a choice of (or any) sweeteners. We had our meal without interruption (not even a "how is everything") No refills on drinks were offered and napkins consist of a roll of paper towels on the table. Altogether we paid $60+ for the meal. I don't think we will be returning to this venue as it appears to be merely a 'takeout' restaurant with aspirations. Although the food is decently prepared and tasty, the prices are entirely too high for styrofoam and what amounts to 'self-service. Too bad the owner can decide what this place is or could be. Duncanville really NEEDS something. I think real plates and so tableware would go a long way to making the place more inviting. read more

The food! Yes! The Food! Was excellent! The fried green tomatoes were seasoned to perfection. The catfish tasted as if someone uncle deeper fried it outside with love. The drinks tip the bartender. The place is understaffed. I saw our waitress jumping through her section. I can't remember her name but she was dark skin with a red head wrap. She was pleasant. She had a big section and she was working it. I gave her a tip of gratitude of $20 and she was like is this for me and kept saying thank you. Yes, honey! I see you and I appreciate you. The band. I give this a three star because of the rules in place, like not putting a table together with there is more than 4 paying guest. If your party is larger than 4 people, the other guest have to sit at another table. Well buy some larger table that seat 5 or more. The experience was subpar and I was hoping for great things as we chose this place over Pappadeauxs the day I went. The drinks were good but the frozen machines were not all working so I had a choice of 2 out of 4. The waitress was new but she was good. The kitchen was not fully stocked so some things ordered were not available. When my friend ordered, her food came out cold and wrong. They didn't want to give her money back but it was so bad they had to. Everything was fine with my food but the experience was lacking because the whole table wasn't happy. The servicer left out the pickles, and she said that you have to request the pickles if you want them. I stated that it did'nt mention the request for pickles it said that it come with the basket. I can't say enough good things about my experience at Thibodeaux's. I had a last minute family event and the wonderful staff was able to accommodate on a relatively short notice and provided excellent service and communication. I inquired through their website for a catering order and I was responded to within the hour. Mrs. Thibodeaux and her team were extremely professional and pleasant to work with. You can tell they take pride in providing the best service possible. The food was amazing, great quality and taste. For reference, I ordered several flavors of the fried wings, fried fish, fries, salad, and two large canisters of drinks. The restaurant has a more casual feel but to my understanding you are able to bring your decorations to change the vibe for your event. It definitely is large enough to host a good amount of people while also keeping your event separate from other patrons. The team was extremely attentive and I'm extremely impressed with the large quantity I ordered and their ability to deliver on short notice and for it to taste amazing. I cannot recommend Thibodeaux's enough. I'll definitely will be back and I'm excited to try other things on the menu. read more
