Pleasantly surprised by this place. Came here with a group and they had some pretty good specials including pho. I got the bun bo hue with a free beef rib (which was huge and tasty). The pho itself was decent though the mistake is that their fresh noodles were too soft (maybe stick with non fresh). Portions were great and things came out hot and tasty. Would probably come back for value and decent place to eat.

This place is a complete dumpster fire. We ordered 2 banh mi's and a drink each around 11 am as an in store to go, thinking it would be quick because hey, a Vietnamese cafe is suppose to be quick to go. Nope, took 25 minutes until I got fed up and asked. They didn't even start our drinks yet. If you're going to be slow, at least give us our coffee/ boba. It's also important to mention that the cafe was mostly empty so why the sloth service? It seems like they forgot about our order even though we were sitting there waiting. In terms of food, it's $10 a banh mi, but it's extremely small, like majority of it could fit in the palm of my hands. Sadly, it was pretty disgusting. Very little veggies, and a sickening amount of mayo to coverup the cheap cut of meat. I actually only ate half and threw the other half away. While I did finish the boba, it was also a meh. Disappointing because I was so excited for a new Vietnamese cafe in shoreline, but you couldn't pay me to be back.

TLDR: Filling portions for a good price. Drive-thru only does drinks and bahn mi but there's a larger menu for dine in. First time going through the drive through and re staff was very kind and patient. It was great to have that option on a rainy day. It wasn't busy on a rainy Thursday afternoon. It's a small place inside but has its own parking lot which is convenient for Aurora. Couldn't check out the ambiance since I didn't go inside. Got the shrimp and avocado spring rolls; avocado was a twist in my opinion. Made it very filling. I also had the Thai tea with boba at 70% sweet. Was still pretty sweet for me. Would probably get 50% next time. Boba was nice and chewy. Can't wait to come back for dine in!

How I heard of this place: We used to love Black Coffee NW in this location and frequented it regularly. When too much vandalism and discrimination pushed them out of their cafe, we were eager to see what would come in it's place. Date Cafe opened up and we had wanted to try it for at least a few weeks before we were finally able to make our way there. Type of cuisine: "Authentic Vietnamese" is the way its described online, but we felt it left something to be desired as far as the plethora Vietnamese options available to us in the greater Seattle area. The flavors seem mild and tamed to fit the local population, rather than offering the true, authentic, robust flavors one might find in a home-cooked or other restaurant meal. Though the menu is extensive and I'm certain one could find more authenticity among dishes that we have yet to try. Ambiance: Beautiful and welcoming, the space is large and clean, ready to serve the masses. The creative entry with "walls" separating the dining space from the entryway is a treat for the eyes, as well as the dark tones used in the space. We loved the choice of chairs and tables, giving a mid-century vibe to the space. Windows on two sides give ample natural light amid the stripes of fluorescent light from above. Tables are set up with enough distance between to give privacy to each dining party and the space is big enough, likely, to host larger gatherings and events. What I ordered: My daughter and I were there for lunch and selected a couple of items to share. First, the Crispy egg rolls stuffed with taro, tofu, carrots, and mushrooms, served with a special chili dipping sauce. "Perfectly crunchy and full of flavor!" Followed by a Pad Thai - Stir-fried rice noodles with shrimp, egg, tofu, bean sprouts, and green onions in tamarind sauce. Topped with peanuts and lime. I also wished to try one of their Vietnamese coffees, and chose the Bac Xiu - A light, creamy Vietnamese coffee with less caffeine, smooth like a latte. What I loved: We especially loved the Egg Rolls, likely among the best we have had at any restaurant. The pad Thai tasted a bit fake, and I'm sure we could have chosen something more authentic off of the menu, but this was the quickest option in the moment. Why I loved it: The server was quick to address any issued we had (mold in the crunchy chili bowl), and the food was delivered in a timely manner. The egg rolls, again, were among the best we've had, perfectly crispy, wonderful selection of vegetables. Cost: Average

I had been driving past for about a year wondering what would take place at the former location of One Cup followed by Black Coffee Northwest. The Homie and I finally had the opportunity to visit Date Cafe on 8/3/25, 8/11/25, and 8/14/25. I was amazed at the transformation of the interior and especially the open kitchen area. The coffee & bubble tea preparation area with drive through capacity was nicely laid out. We experienced welcoming and unobtrusive service during the soft opening and after the official grand opening. Overall we tried the fish sauce wings, grilled pork banh mi, steak & brisket pho, shaking beef, beef egg noodles, and milk teas. Tasty, quality execution. Glad to see another family run establishment open for business in Shoreline. It is readily accessible via Metro Rapid Ride E or via car since they have a private parking lot. A definite palate pleaser! Wishing them much success!

Date Cafe is a welcome addition to Shoreline! On our first visit, hubby and I were definitely intrigued by the menu given the various plates that were on display from an earlier photo shoot, which helped us decide what to order. We opted for the grilled pork banh mi and the special pork chop rice with grilled shrimp, which is one of the 3 special rice dishes they have on their menu. I love how the meats glisten and are so flavorful. I look forward to trying the other 2, especially the crispy chicken. A few days later, I went back to try the beef pho, fish sauce wings and salted egg iced coffee. All good, no complaints here. I'm happy there's a place closer to home for me to get Vietnamese iced coffee and fish sauce wings! I will be returning to work through their menu. Order is placed via QR code at the table. Plenty of indoor seating. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Slightly rounded up because I visited during soft opening, where challenges are expected but I'm very hopeful for their success. Soft opening August 01 to August 07 doors open at 11am until sell out. They were still open at 8:30pm the day I visited. Also 30% off during this time. Passed by the DateCafe sign a while back and was super curious what it'd be like. Nothing like my expectations (in a good way) because it's a whole Vietnamese restaurant and includes a drive thru! Tablet available to order to go, or QR codes present at each table to check the menu. Note online ordering doesn't work right now as they're sorting through technical difficulties. Browse the menu and a staff member will come take orders. Large drink menu, and honestly the drinks were great (the liquid part, more on boba below). Tried to order again at the end and turns out they were out of tea which bummed us out. Spacious parking lot with an entrance through Highway 99 or a back entrance, so no worries even if you turn too early. Lots of seating inside, super spacious spot. Two restrooms available and were very clean. Fish Sauce Chicken Wings - about three large wings (splittable into about six wings). Chicken was fine, not super juicy but not super dry. Fish sauce was tasty, just makes the wings sticky though, so slightly different than many other chicken wings. Would be a maybe order again, likely for sharing. Jasmine Green Milk Tea w/ Boba - boba was clumpy and overall not fresh, but it was late. Likely better earlier in the day. Still chewy and sweet though, so marinated well enough to maintain flavor. I'd be keen to order again just knowing they won't be perfect pearls. At 30% sugar, the tea was present and it wasn't too milky. Solid balance of tea to milk. Honestly all the drinks we ordered were great, would confidently order any of the drink menu. Osmanthus Coconut Oolong Tea w/ Jasmine Tea Jelly - maybe the best drink here, but will need to try all the other options. Extremely hydrating, refreshing, and flavorful. I'd recommend starting at 50% sugar and then tone it down in a future visit if needed. More spots need to do a coconut tea, this was a hit! Grilled Pork Sandwich - a typical banh mi but props for the bread! Toasted well, perfectly crispy, and not overly soft. This spot does add chili sauce to the banh mi which is unconventional and packs a small punch. Sauce was a bit too wet though, as it started dripping and getting messy. At the price point, it's pretty filling and comparable to many banh mi.

I've been waiting for this spot to open for a year ever since Black Coffee NW closed. I'm pleasantly surprised by the food and drink menu and will likely be frequenting this spot a lot because it's so close to home! Loved the shaking beef garlic noodles - the beef was so juicy and tender and noodles were flavorful. Also enjoyed the grilled pork vermicelli. The banh mi were ok, not used to the different sauces they put in there. I did like the cold cut over the pork one. They said the drive through will serve drinks and banh mi so that's pretty exciting! Tried the mango smoothie and that was tasty.

    Beef and egg sizzling plate
    Sophia W.

Im rounding up as it is soft opening so things happen. We got the beef and egg sizzling plate, didn't quite match description - seemed to have been missing meatball and sausage but the taste was great! Bread was amazing, crusty but soft in the inside. We also got a shaking beef with egg noodle. The beef was rare, which I wasn't expecting, but they did a refire and it was more medium. Again flavor was great! Avocado smoothie was not too sweet and creamy Fish sauce wings were tasty, highlight of the meal. Sauce was nice and sticky and full of flavor. Wings crispy. They have a large space. Can accommodate large groups easily. Staff very friendly and checking in. We did have to wait a bit for utensils but overall good service.

    Kat B.

Friendly service and a cool, modern atmosphere. I really appreciate that they can accommodate large groups, and the menu offers a wide variety of options. We ordered the pho and bún bò Huế, and both soups were flavorful and satisfying. We also tried a couple of bubble teas--they could use a little refining (or maybe it was just a one-off), but it wasn't a deal breaker. I can't wait to come back and try more of what they have to offer!

What a wonderful spot to get Vietnamese food and drinks! I was surprised on how diverse the menu is and how tasty looking it was. We just got drinks and it was good! I'll definitely come back for the food.

We were so excited to go try the new spot in Shoreline as we are pho fans. There was a BOGO deal for beef pho soup and we went in on a Thursday evening to try. Wow, was it flavorful and good. I did give my husband all the beef because my dietary restrictions but the broth was phenomenal and traditional flavors. It was accompanied by a nice side of fresh herbs to top. The strawberry matcha boba was so good and refreshing. The spring rolls with peanut sauce was fresh and stuffed. The service was so sweet. The decor and ambiance inside is new and modern. There is ample parking on both ends of the restart. The only downfall is the chop sticks are very slippery and there should be a seafood pho option to complete the menu.

They're all a bit older so be patient when it's busy. I had seen their banh canh cua all over IG so I was curious since I wanted to see how it differs from the one I make at home. My friend and I came for lunch and the bowl was huge. I was hoping to get crab in the shell but didn't mind the de shelled meat instead. The broth is thick but light. I thought it was going to be sweet but was so pleasantly surprised it wasn't. Lots of yummy goodness. They make the noodles in house and I can tell because the cuts were uneven. Though it was on the softer side than what I normally liked, it was still a good bowl of noodle soup. I would have preferred the noodles to be a bit chewier but I also know how tedious it is to make fresh if they're doing all of that per bowl. There was "rieu" which is the crab mixture and I really like the flavor that has. It came with fried donuts to dipped and I loved that! We usually only eat the fried donut with chao so for me personally it was a nice treat. I left pretty full and happy. My friends sat there for an hour after eating just yapping away and I'm glad they didn't kick us out haha. They just cleaned around us and sat there enjoying their lunch. I will probably bring my mom and siblings here to try out other dishes! I will say, if you like things spicier I'd recommend bringing your own chili peppers haha. I drowned my bowl in their chili oil and sriracha and it wasn't spicy at all.

Many other tables had them but we were never offered it as service was brisk yet not very friendly. I ordered a Dac Biet pho (my regular choice) but they don't have tripe??? I usually pass on pho restaurants that don't serve tripe and tendon. I was at best average but honestly not near the best I've ever had in the US or Vietnam. At almost $20 for a bowl I wasn't impressed enough to say "let's go back". My wife ordered the pork vermicelli bowl (her usual). She liked it ok and I tried a bit. Again pretty tasty and in my opinion a better dish than their pho, but not worthy of returning over other choices. Overall if you are comfortable parking in a tight little parking lot to eat average food in a little old building it's not a bad choice. But I would not purposefully go back even though we shop often at Costco and Home Depot nearby.

Only confusion was finding the entrance to this place, but when I did I was actually surprised where I was stepping into. Inside is laid back and cool with plenty of seating for groups of various sizes. There's tables and booths, and I got booth seating for myself when I walked in. There's a TV playing sports nearby where I was, and Vietnamese pop music was playing in the background too. Menu consists of regular foods in most Vietnamese restaurants, though their provincial noodle soups and banh mi sandwiches caught my eye. They even have bún măng vịt (duck and bamboo shoot noodle soup), my favorite that I gotta try next time I come here! From my IG feeds and as a starting point, I got their bánh mì thịt heo nướng (grilled pork Vietnamese sandwich), which comes with all the works of a regular banh mi sandwich, though I was kinda surprised how brightly orange the grilled pork was. Regardless, it was tasty and the meat was juicy. The pork pate added a nice savory touch to the sandwich, and no other condiment was in excess that it took away taste from the flavorful grilled pork. Staff was very kind throughout, and refilled my water every now and then. It was also nice chatting with one of them about our day and other recommendations from the menu.
