We often drive by the restaurant but did not expect it to be so cute and modern inside! They have cute neon signs and a little mascot with their logo. I had really been craving bún bò huế and noticed the spicy beef noodle soup with saté-if I remembered correctly-on the menu. I confirmed with our waiter if this was just the long name for bún bò huế, and he said yes. Along with my dish, I ordered fish sauce wings to share with my friend. The fish sauce wings came piping hot, crispy, saucy, umami, and just perfect. Serving size was good with 2-3 wings per person. On the other hand, my dish was not what I was expecting. Rather than the actual bún bò huế, it missed a lot of key ingredients like pig's feet/hock, pig blood, pork sausages, and distinct side veggies (cabbage and/or banana flower). I did not expect all these marks to be hit but was hoping it at least tasted like the actual thing. While I was disappointed by my order, the food still tasted good, with my soup noodles more similar to pho with sate. Friend invited me to join her for one of her favorite dishes at her favorite pho place on north Aurora. Service here is very attentive and friendly; we walked in and were promptly greeted and seated. There were other customers enjoying their meals, not loud and overwhelming with noise, as can happen sometimes. And the conversations quiet enough for peaceful enjoyment of a meal. We asked for two versions of the hot and sour Thai noodle soup. Vegetarian with tofu and beef broth with rare steak. The important edit was to swap out the thicker Thai noodles for the pho noodles. Ordered the avocado smoothie, which was delicious because it's actually made with fresh avocados, while we waited for the Hot and Sour Thai Noodle soups. (Just to be clear the hot and sour soup was not like the Chinese hot and sour soup) When are soup arrived, my beef broth base was incredibly rich and so flavorful; the slightly tangy broth was truly satisfying, even more so than just pho broth. The beef slices were perfect tender. The food was actually so good we actually didn't talk that much because we were too busy enjoying the meal. That's when I realized why the environment was so conducive to eating because everyone was so busy enjoying their food the conversations were on the quieter side. Was here over the weekend. I had high hopes for this place after reading reviews. It was just ok. First off, 2 in our group ordered hot tea, got "lukewarm" tea, had to ask for a "hotter" pot. The food was absolutely yummy. My fiance loved his meatball & steak pho bowl. We also ordered a couple of spring rolls with peanut sauce and that was delicious. We both ordered the large bowls of pho and now we know for next time that I will order the small bowl. The prices are a little bit higher than we would've liked, but so is everything else in the world today. All in all, it was very much worth the money plus the great Valentine's Day memory. And it was actually pretty solid, not gonna lie. It costs a pretty penny, about $5 for just 1, so we had to order 2 for the price of $10. I never had anything like that before, and it served as a hearty appetizer. Not too shabby at all, but not anything super spectacular. The pho was actually pretty delightful! They're definitely generous with the meats, and the broth was on the lighter side, which I'm not complaining about. The noodles were not clumped in an unraveling ball (which I typically hate), and overall this pho hit the spot. I don't know why this place has low ratings. The customer service was nice, food was great, and my wife and I left quite satisfied. It I a bit on the pricey end, but I'm contently happy to give this place a solid 4 stars. We ordered the shrimp fresh spring rolls and fried egg rolls as appetizers to share. Each came with two small-medium-ish pieces. Looked kind of sad, but we were starving! The shrimp spring rolls were freshly made and really hit the spot. It wasn't something memorable though. Same with the eggs rolls. Fresh out of the fryer (VERY HOT (temperature wise)) and hit the spot but wasn't too memorable either. It came with only two small lettuces... how do we make a wrap with this? LMAO. This was the first Vietnamese restaurant I've been to that only gave the egg rolls without the vegetables. I also thought there would be more pieces as other places give 3 or 4 pieces and cut in half. I ordered their Pho Dac Biet (combination pho) with the rare steak on the outside. The broth was a bit on the lighter side without that fully deep umami flavor. I had to add a lot of hoisin and spicy chili to make it have that deeper umami flavor. But it definitely hit the spot after a long day! I LOVED how much protein they gave me though! Even when I was done with the noodles, there seemed like an endless amount of tendons, beef flank and steak, and tripe. A friend ordered their Short Rib Beef Stew and wow! This was very interesting yet really good. Instead of the usual beef stews I'm used to, it had a sweeter flavor with a ton of umami to it. There was a HUGE beef rib included in it too. Would love to get this the next time! Another friend ordered the Chow Mein with char siu pork. Another interesting dish with a sweeter taste to it than saltiness. Different take from Chinese style chow mein which was nice! I also got a Vietnamese Coffee. It was yummy but a tad too sweet and a bit watered down to my liking. Still helped washed down all the food I had tho! Overall, really great restaurant with a variety of options. Both noodle dishes were memorable especially the portion size. Our favorite! We've been going there for many years starting back when they were located on 85th St next to the Taproot Theatre. That location burned down-along with the rest of the block. Luckily they had already started this new location up north. Their eggrolls are the best. I usually get the noodle bowl with eggrolls or eggrolls and grilled pork. Hands down the best pho I've had in the seattle area. Great prices for everything even amongst an economy filled with taxes and inflation, a smiling, warm, and welcoming staff.
