    Pho dac biet

There is a lot of upside to Mekong Village, especially because it is one of just a few Vietnamese restaurants in Seattle which serve won ton noodle soup (mì hoành thánh). My wife always orders it and I always get the pho dac biet (large). Mì hoành thánh was brought to Vietnam in the late 1800's by Chinese immigrants. However, the broth that is commonly used Vietnamese restaurants for wonton noodle soup is far better than the broth in Chinese restaurants. The mì hoành thánh at Mekong Village is fabulous (5/5). My pho dac diet was great until I got to the brisket. It was so tough I couldn't bite through it using chopsticks and had to use my fingers to get a bite. It was cut too thick and not cooked long enough. (3/5) The service was good and the interior is really nice. It looks a little run down on the outside. I will eat here again but order a different pho or get the mì hoành thánh.

My go to spot for viet food in north seattle area. Prices are fair + the food is always consistent. Their pho, BBH, and bun rieu are bangahzzz. This time I just got two different non-soup dishes. Now I did mean to order one vermicelli + one rice dish... but got two noodles... but shoot I ain't hating hahahaha. Everything's good here!!

Located on a desolate stretch of Aurora Ave, this place could easily be passed by without a thought. If you choose to venture inside you will find a simple and friendly environment with, in my opinion, the best Pho soup in Seattle. The fast friendly service is welcoming and the quickness of Pho to your table after ordering is impressive. There are several other Vietnamese staples on the menu but I always order the Pho Ga, because it's one of the best Pho soup bowls I've had and I just can't stray from it. The pre-pho plate of Thai basil leaves, sprouts, limes and jalapeños are always fresh and abundant. The broth is a beautiful light brown and not overrun by fatty clumps, instead offering a deep satisfying flavor that once properly seasoned to taste with Sriracha and Hoisin, is heavenly to sip. The pulled strips of tender chicken are just the right texture and provide a hearty balance to the cooked onions and noodles. The noodles are always made to perfection, a firmness that makes them feel substantial but also a silkiness that almost melts in your mouth. The combination of the crunch of the sprouts, the aroma of the basil, the tender chewiness of the chicken and the softness of the noodles, all swimming in that delightful golden brown broth is simply beautiful. I am now craving a bowl and will be heading out shortly. I've gone to Mekong Village many times now and the most impressive thing to me is that it is ALWAYS great. I have not once had a dud experience. I really can't say that about most places.

Good authentic viet food! Came here because my partner was craving bun rieu and this place cane up a few times when looking for a good bun rieu and bbh spot. I got the banh xeo and my partner got the bun rieu. We also shared a nem nuong spring roll and viet coffee. Spring rolls - nem nuong was tasty Banh xeo- batter was super crispy and there were full pieces of shrimp inside Bun rieu- I didn't try but my partner said it was good Would come here again! I wanna try some other things on the menu. Reasonable prices, friendly staff, and a parking lot :)

My friend & I came here for the first time & enjoyed the experience. Outside is nothing spectacular (but at least they have a parking lot!), but inside is nice. Nice Asian décor which I always like. Was expecting a lot from the food due to the reviews written but neither my friend nor myself were super impressed. I would be happy to come back here, but wouldn't drive out of my way for the food. We both had an entrée and an appetizer. I had the fresh shrimp spring rolls for my app and it tasted good and didn't fall apart. For my entrée I had to noodles with beef and vegetables. The entrée is large portion so I was able to take home leftovers which is always nice. The service was great, we had a very sweet waitress who was helpful and went out of her way to take care of us.

I was craving bun rieu and we happened to stumble on this place which had a whole variety of Vietnamese food! The interior doesn't really give Mekong haha but i guess it was a tad village-y. The service was super nice and quick. I ordered a bun rieu (ofc) and it was fire . It felt like the soup was punching me with all the crabby umami tomatoy flavor. The rieu itself was so good too. My only small qualm was that it was super oily. But otherwise... I'm so coming back for more bun rieu. Yes the area does feel a bit odd and a tiny bit sketch but so worth!

So this spot will clean out your soul and all the alcohol in your system with just a couple of spoonfuls. The bun rieu honestly beats anything my own viet mama ever made (please no one tell her). Ohh and the rice dishes esp the pork chop my god had me licking the plate. I've learned the sketchier the neighborhood the better the food bulk approved.

I ended up coming here during their expanded weekend hours - around 12pm on a Saturday - and was greeted to a large line of ~15 people. I was excited to try their "Bottega" sandwich however they were not longer making it so I settled on a Bambino and Gran Sasso sandwich. I enjoyed the bambino. The combination of toppings with the mortadella worked well within their homemade bread (which I thought was the best part for sure). The Gran Sasso - my girlfriend said it was "OK", mostly due to the huge chunks of artichoke hearts (with stems) that were not her favorite. I could see myself coming back here if friends/family wanted to try. At ~$20 a sandwich it is pricey but the ingredients are high quality and the service is friendly.

got the Notorious PIG sandwich and the Buttermilk Biscuit while I was here…read more Starting with the sandwich, there were a ton of things to love about this The very first thing I noticed was how all-time crispy the pork belly was. Interestingly, the meat came in two separate pieces, arranges somewhat like an X or a cross in the middle of the sandwich. This certainly wasn't the eating experience of a typical sandwich with a circular meat patty, and I appreciate the creativity here. The meat was insanely crunchy, oily, and quite plentiful. Each bite felt a bit like you were biting into a crunchy churro, but without the sweetness. I did think the outside of the pork did overpower the inside, though, as I didn't taste the meat or the fat inside much, and due to the amount of breading the pieces ended up being a bit chewy The bun was quite good as well - it was pretty soft, fluffy, and served as a really good bookend to all the ingredients inside. I thought the lettuce and onions also were good. I don't know if I'm a fan of the jelly on the sandwich - but again, I do like the creativity. What did shine here was the aioli, however. In a lot of places, you don't really taste the aioli on a burger - but that flavor was ever-present on this sandwich, and it was really fantastic. The absolute best part of the meal, by far, though, was the biscuit I have to start with how huge this is. This is certainly not the size of a typical Southern-style buttermilk biscuit - rather this biscuit makes no apologies in its effort to stand out from the crowd. Absolutely nobody would mistake this for a traditional biscuit - on the contrary, I think on first glance most people would assume this isn't a biscuit at all. It's shaped more like a massive pastry. I hesitate to say that looks are deceiving, because it does look great, but its taste manages to elevate past that. This was SO good. The edges are baked perfectly - they're oily, crispy, crunchy, and perfectly flaky. All four sides provide an amazing base - like the walls of a fortress that surround the soft, tender interior of the biscuit. You can see the different layers from the outside as well. When it comes to the inside, there was so much to get through but every bite was heavenly. So much credit here goes to the honey butter - which when spread onto the biscuit, raises the taste level of the entire thing. I put so much honey butter on mine that I nearly finished the whole thing. When it came to the jam, it was good, but since it didn't combine great with the honey butter I mostly ended up just using the latter This place was expensive - around 16 dollars for the sandwich and 8 for the biscuit - however, I was quite full at the end

It wasn't quite incredibly tender, but the marinade added an absolute ton of flavor. more importantly, it was present plentifully throughout the sandwich, so practically every bite came filled with pork I also have to mention how packed together the ingredients are between the buns. when you start eating, it's inevitable that a quarter of the ingredients will fall onto the wrap below, leaving a nice secondary meal to finish off after the sandwich is done. the sandwich is packed incredibly tight during the wrapping process, but it unravels a bit while eating. for me, the major highlights of this meal was the onions and the aioli Starting with the onions, these may be the best I've ever had on a sandwich. They're caramelized amazingly, placed onto the sandwich in astoundingly large pieces, are crunchy, and there's just a lot of them. They're just wonderful both texturally and taste-wise. This sandwich is absolutely lathered with aioli - practically dripping with it. This boosted the overall flavor so much, especially because this aioli was addictingly good. In my experience, the amount of sauce has been directly proportional to how much I enjoyed a sandwich, and when the sauce is this good - it's even on the top of the bun! - i absolutely loved it Somehow the lettuce stayed crunchy despite all the otherwise wetness going on in the sandwich. Props for that The jalapenos were great as well for that extra bit of spicy - I would've loved to have more of them while the bread was toasted well, the one downside was i thought it was pretty hard and tough, which made chewing kind of difficult. I found my jaw to be pretty tired at the end after eating this. I would've much preferred a softer roll that's easier to bite into I've had similar sandwiches from Paseo and Bongos, and in my opinion this does edge out both of those Comparing to Paseo, the sandwich there has way more oil, making it more sloppy and I do like the bread there a lot better, but the pork feels richer and better marinated here (although less fatty), and the onions are definitely caramelized better here as well. Bongos has a pretty similar level of pork with more, but onions are definitely a step down What moves this place above those two for me is the amount of aioli used here far exceeds those other places, which just makes the overall eating experience better For the price (about 14 dollars) this is a really filling meal

The Mean - THICK pieces of juicy corned beef with housemade mustard, pickled red cabbage and mint. The cross section of the sandwich looks insane! The combination of flavors is excellent. The Hama Hama Oyster Po'Boy - Deep-fried Hama Hama yysters with housemade remoulade and lemon-pepper mayo. I loved this. The oysteres were nicely fried with not too much batter. You could really taste the oyster and appreciate the texture. The French roll was also very nice. It was similar to a Vietnamese Banh Mi roll. Soft, but with a light crispness on the outside. Fully Loaded Skins & Ins - Skins & Ins are basically a mixture of fried potato skins and potato chunks so you get a variety of texture: thin and crispy, or soft and meaty. We tried 3 different sandwiches - the steak tartar, the mean (corned beef) and the wtk (fried chicken). All three were a wonderful combinations of ingredients you would not see on an average sandwich shop menu and all three were delightful. In addition to the sandwiches, they come with potatoes which were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside (aka. cooked to perfection.) We upgraded one of our potatoes to the loaded version and to no surprise it was also amazing. I have to take a moment for the weekday breakfast sandwich (I added ham). I take my breakfast sandwiches very seriously and had been on the hunt for one since I moved to Seattle. This is easily one of the best and the best in Seattle that I've had so far. I loved the soufflé egg and English muffin, every bite was truly delicious! I also got a savory scone and chocolate chip cookie. The scone was light, but flavor was not my fav. Cookie was very delicious! The staff were super kind and a joy to talk to even when they were busy. There was a small hiccup with my latte order and they accommodated with the complimentary cookie which I truly appreciated. The inside was quite small with a few tables, but they have a covered area outside with tables which I opted for since I felt a bit crammed inside. I will be coming back regularly for the breakfast sandwich though! So delicious!

The egg in the sandwich was very soft in texture which made it more enjoyable. Pretty large portions too. I was full after eating the whole sandwich. The lobster eggs Benedict was also superb. The lobster was perfectly harmonious to the eggs Benedict and it was in large proportions in comparison to the meal. Very well done. The service was great too. Very friendly at the cashiers stand, answering all the little questions about the food and how it's prepared. The interior was cozy and nice too, but there isn't a lot of seating space. Most likely you'd have to sit outside, which was fabulous on a sunny day like today. However, I can see that during winter months when it's rainy, I would imagine taking it to go is probably the only option. Also, the only gripe, if I had to point it out, was the wait was very long. I think it's understandable since it's a very cozy neighborhood spot, but it was intimidating to walk up to a line that spills out the back door. I would say that the line went faster than you think, but if you were in a time crunch, I would be hesitant to recommend this spot. But other than that, a strong rec. love the spot. What a jewel of the Phinney Ridge neighborhood!
