Love this place! Food is so good. I almost always order a vermicelli bowl. Today I ordered the fried egg roll, grilled shrimp, and grilled pork vermicelli bowl. So good! Husband ordered a papaya salad with shrimp. He loved it. Several tables were occupied. I guess word is getting around how good the food is here. Got to watch a football game while eating dinner. These folks used to be over by the Lake City neighborhood. Great service from the young lady (LeAnna) behind the counter; very friendly, efficient and kind. She is wise about the BEAUTIFUL READER BOARD ABOVE the cash register. Pay attention folks -- their TV MENU/electronic reader board is awesome to look at and very helpful but it refreshes super fast! This old lady couldn't keep up with it so I chose to read the hard copy menu. Nothing bad, nothing wrong with reader board. You just have to be a fast reader. NOW LET US TALK ABOUT THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE: FOOD IS VERY GOOD! I had the fresh spring rolls. I didn't bother taking a picture because I ordered "to go." That's not fair to a business if they pack your food "to go" then you take a picture of it like you're eating "in house." The presentation and plating is different between "to go" and "eat here." Was craving some pho and didn't feel like fighting traffic to go to my 'go to' spot further north, so decided to try this place as it's super close to home. The woman at the counter was nice and answered some questions i had then I ordered the chicken, tofu, broccoli, & carrots pho and the wontons to go. It took a little longer than I expected to get my order considering it was a little after 4pm and only one person was eating in the restaurant. The girl at the counter spent the whole time chatting with the guy who was eating and then sat down at his table and continued to talk. Eventually the food was ready so I went home to eat. Started with wontons which weren't bad - a little tough/chewy on the crimped dough edge which was thicker and a lot harder to chew. I was disappointed in the pho as there wasn't a lot of broth which was also a bit too sweet in my opinion and there wasn't much basil or bean sprouts either. I had been excited to try an option that had chicken with vegetables for the pho...but the amount of chicken was just a few shreds. It should have been called broccoli, carrots, tofu, and a hint of chicken pho. Will I go back? Maybe if I'm being lazy and don't feel like driving further to get better pho at a better price. read more

So good! I had the chicken banh mi and my partner had the tofu. Right from the first bite and taste of the bread we could tell it was gonna be great. The girl at the counter was very nice. First time at Green Papaya and it's already one of my fav Vietnamese restaurants in Seattle! I got their grilled pork vermicelli with egg rolls and it was so freaking good. The meat had so much flavor and I could eat 8 of those egg rolls myself. Food came out super quick as well. I think it's super cool they had a whole ordering kiosk too which is pretty efficient since it got pretty busy when I was there. The area was bright, clean, and I felt right at home with all the cute decor. What really stood out to me on top of everything was the service. Leanna, the young woman working at the front, was so welcoming and friendly. She checked on me throughout my meal and every customer that came and sat down and ate. I went in there today and requested a specific order and I double checked to make sure and the cook who looked like I was on drugs shoved my food in a very disrespectful manner and told me to take my food and I'm not welcome back? I honestly can't believe how some new restaurant owners decide to open a place with the skills they have. If my family cooked like this, I'd do everything I could to stop them from opening a restaurant. The food here just isn't good--Service is ok, but we don't come to restaurant to make new friends..I feel like I completely wasted my time and money coming here. Our family is not likely to come back here again although we live only 2 minutes away. It's sad to see a new place opening that is a big let down. read more

My girlfriend and I came here about two maybe three days ago. While a small venue, the service was great. The lime water was actually a great touch! However, we ordered two rare round eye steak pho bowls. As well as a pork bahn mi. The pho broth was EXTREMELY oily and sweet. It seemed that the ingredient ratio was off. The pork bahn mi was missing ingredients and did not Have much flavor from it. The appetizer we shared was however pretty good! We split the pork and shrimp wontons and there was a very good flavor from them. I would give this a third star if it were not for the fact that as soon as we drive home, we both were sick after eating the food. I frankly don't think it was a food poisoning type of sick since it was only through the night. I believe it was a fluke. I'm a firm believer in mistakes happening and everyone deserves a second chance. This place definitely does, and I'm eager to give it another chance. read more
