We stopped by Dave's McCully for a late-night treat after dinner and wow it was such a sweet experience! I ordered the Dubai Sundae, which lets you pick two scoops of ice cream. I went with Hawaiian Mud Pie and Cookies & Cream, and it was absolutely delicious. The combination was rich, creamy, and so satisfying I happily finished every bite! 10/10 for flavor! The service was just as wonderful. There was only one staff member working that evening but he welcomed us with a big smile and such a positive attitude. His friendliness really made the visit feel extra special. The shop is located on the second floor of the McCully Shopping Center, which makes it a great little hidden gem. The vibe is cozy, though I do think adding some background music would bring even more energy and life to the space. Overall, Dave's McCully is definitely worth a visit. If you're craving a fun, delicious dessert, this spot will not disappoint. Give it a try!!! you'll love it just like we did!

Dessert in Honolulu, Hawaii... Located in the Test Kitchen on the upper level of McCully Shopping Center is the newest Dave's Ice Cream! There are several tables with chairs in the shared space! My dentist and niece were excited to try it! Dave's is known for its local flavors like pineapple - which I almost got. I wanted kulolo, but it was sold out. I got a scoop of Hawaiian Mud Pie. It was rich and creamy! The Oreo cookie pieces blended well with the fudge and chocolate ice cream! Service by the lone worker was excellent! He gave samples cheerfully and was efficient with scooping the ice cream and processing payments! Thanks for the free parking in the basement and the pleasant air-conditioning inside!

Love Dave's ice cream with the rich buttercream base and the innovative flavors! My regular go to flavor is their delicious matcha. Since samples given freely here, tried the kulolo and knew i wanted a scoop of that! A scoop of ice cream cost $3.50- 3.00 (for multiple scoops). I like that they are smaller than most places and less expensive. If one wants more they can just get multiple scoops at a discount. And right now one can get Dubai chocolate bars here! Buy a bar and get a scoop of ice cream for free. ;-) who doesn't like "free" . Located on the second floor of the McCully Shopping Center. Enjoy a refreshing sweet treat today!

Amazing and friendly staff/owner! They let us sample the different flavors and was really patient with us as we decided. So many flavors for a smaller location! Location if great! We finally have one in town! They also sell Dubai chocolate and bonbons. It's with milk chocolate but not extremely sweet. My favorite place to get Dubai chocolates and ice cream, it's a win win. Lots of seating around.

Stopped by for ice cream after dinner. Dave's ice cream is such a nice treat and brings back great memories of my youth... which is why I still get their Cotton Candy flavor. This locations is located in the McCully Shopping Center, 2nd Floor, near the end of the hall (opposite of Fook Yuen) by Akihabara Toys and that Hiroshima Ramen shop. Pros: - Single scoop size and price is ideal for me.. I don't need like a huge bowl of ice cream post-dinner. - I also love that they have Dippin Dots (another childhood fave) PLUS they do milkshakes and other yummy looking confections! - This is a really small detail, but thank you for not using those really cheap wooden or plastic spoons.. like these spoons have smooth edges and it is thick, so it won't snap while enjoying your ice cream. Cons: - This location is quite small but not sure if having a larger footprint would change much, since the ice cream is really the main thing you're going for, but I know some of the other locations have Halo Halo or Icees, which would be nice too... but they're sundaes also sound yummy. - The only other thing is that the layout of the cash register is a bit odd because it's right next to the doors you enter from... so like if you had a long queue of people, that seems like it'd be a little chaotic. We only had one other lady behind us and we completely blocked the door. They did have a small outdoor window so maybe that will eventually be in use? Idk but not a deal breaker.

Cool spot in McCully... Yup McCully Shopping Center has a new cool spot and it's Dave's Ice Cream which you can find on the second floor in the Test Kitchen amongst other foodies and what's fun is that you can find not just some yummy ice cream which is always the rage but something not found just anywhere and it's made right here in Hawaii...Dubai Chocolate Bar and it's going! Though I was there for a simple scoop on this blazing hot day I was aware of this special treat though didn't expect to find it as word get around that they exclusive have it here but discovered that there was still a single bar left to then i found out that someone had called and claimed it lol! I think it's fabulous that it's doing so well and so cool that i can be found right here...along with some LiHing Gushers which is also homemade and knowing that they just opened with these items who know what else they'll have to pair along with their delicious ice cream as well. The folks that operates Dave's is so nice and friendly as they share where they source some of their items which I thinks is amazing knowing that something local is involved which is a great way to support while enjoying some sweet treats. Thank you!

Love that there's a Dave's in town (not Waikiki)!! Located on the second floor of McCully shopping center in the food court, right on the inside on the left. Parking can get crowded on the street level but there's another floor below. One of the owners was working and was very helpful and friendly. They offer samples for any flavors you'd like to try. I sampled the Kona coffee and cookies and cream which were good, but ultimately went with my usual, green tea. Keep in mind there are more flavors in the back, not just the ones on display in the front!

Amazing! We tried the ube, strawberries and cream, mint chocolate chip, and rocky road. We also got a bar of Dubai chocolate. It was pricey, but a culinary experience. It is small inside and there are places to sit but not a ton. The other places near it were closed when we went so tables were available. Super nice owners who are working hard for Hawaii. We will be back.

We saw some people illegally parked on the street right on the corner, but they didn't care, they would brave a citation just for these amazing treats! I am sure the neighbors who live across from this place think this is a massive headache, to have such a popular chocolate place right in their own neighborhood - either that, or a blessing, since they can just walk right across! There are 4 tiny stalls in the driveway in the front of the Doggie Bakery and this place, but it looks far too challenging to get in and out and onto the main street, which is insanely busy on a weekend. We parked in the neighboring lot and purchased something from another business just so we could get some chocolates here. If the parking situation were better, I'd come back. I purchased the Hokkaido Soft Serve (weekends only, I think), it was delicious but I was expecting more fatty mouthfeel for something that was labeled as "Hokkaido". It was lighter than I was expecting. The chocolates, on the other hand, were fabulous and worth every, expensive, penny. By the way, who the heck nowdays says "worth every penny"? Probably old folks like me who knew what a penny was, and now due to inflation and the Federal Reserve nixxing the penny, it's probably worth 0.0012 cents now. Rainbow Shave Ice - it really does taste like shave ice! I came here mainly for this, as I've heard the hype and the hype is real! Hibiki Whisky Chocolate - nice and lovely. Dubai Chocolate - with gold leaf and everything. The Dubai craze is insane. This was good, but the least of my favorites. Six chocolates + one soft serve = $30.

Every morning, without fail, people gathered outside waiting patiently for pastries. No flashy signs. No gimmicks. Just quiet consistency. That alone intrigued me. By the second day, my mind was made up. I'm an early riser, so the plan was simple: go on my usual morning run and arrive before the rush. Japanese culture and craftsmanship have long fascinated me. Through close friends with family roots tracing back to Japan, I've developed a deep appreciation for the culture -- the discipline, the rituals, the precision, and the respect for process. There's a beauty in the intentional pace at which things are done. Nothing rushed. Nothing careless. This bakery embodied that philosophy perfectly. The space itself was small, modest, and aromatic. No overdesigned interiors. No influencer bait. Just the comforting smell of fresh bread and butter hanging in the air. Some bakeries hide behind elaborate architecture and presentation, but this place understood something more important: when the product is exceptional, the product becomes the attraction. The pastries ranged from playful and charming to elegant and refined. The Salt & Butter bread was an instant staple -- savory, warm, and impossibly light. The dough practically dissolved like air. Thankfully, nothing felt overly heavy, because I completely lost control of my ordering strategy. The Kobo Kuma -- a soft bear-shaped bun filled with homemade vanilla bean custard -- was perfection. Equal parts cute and comforting. The Cinnamon Roll was solid, but the Haupia pastry completely stole the show. For those unfamiliar, Haupia is a traditional Hawaiian coconut pudding found throughout Polynesia. The flavor here was subtle yet lingering, delicate without disappearing. The kind of flavor that quietly stays with you long after the last bite. Then came the Blueberry Danish -- beautiful, buttery, and perfectly sweet. I didn't even make it to the savory options this time, which honestly just gives me another reason to return. And I absolutely will -- whether back here in Hawaii or perhaps at one of their mainland locations in Los Angeles. Some places become popular because of hype. Others because of quality. This bakery earned its line.

As someone who's vegan, it can be hard to find a dessert I actually feel good about, and this is one of those places. Everything is taro-based and cooked in coconut oil, which I really appreciate. Just a heads up-all of their donuts are taro donuts. The flavors come from the toppings, so if you see something like a strawberry one, the donut itself isn't strawberry--it's the topping. Their offerings change, ( they do have their core donuts that don't change-and I usually go for one "naked"--no glaze. Sometimes I'll get the honey and sea salt one. They also have an app where you can check the menu, keep track of your rewards, and manage gift cards, which makes it really convenient.
