Today it was averaging about 20 degrees before windchill. I called at a little after 3pm for a tow, through AAA. They said a hour, and would be there between 4pm and 4:30pm. I said Ok sounds great. I sit here, waiting for a tow. I order door dash at 4:30, thinking they would be here after the tow truck. The door dash, comes and goes. 5:23 rolls around, I call AAA back. They said Daves should be there any time now. 5:41 they show up. I go out, greet the driver, confirm the house, and my identity. They say they don't need me for anything else, as I'm going back inside, the driver asks about the key. I say its in ignition. He says Ok, he'll have me loaded right up. I finish going inside. 10 minutes later I hear him pull off, thinking Ok cool. He got the truck and left. 6:33 pm. I get a call saying my truck wasn't going to be picked up tonight, because they didn't have any available drivers. The driver got called to one other call. They were physically at the address of the pickup, and then left without the vehicle. The AA comes back on the phone after confirming with them they didn't in fact pick my truck up 45 minutes earlier. During the little break while she called them to confirm, I go and look; low and behold the driver didn't pull and load the truck. Just turned around and left. So in the end, 03/05/2022 a little after 3pm a call was put in for a tow and NO TOW WAS RECIEVED EVEN THO THEY SHOWED UP, and it was a AAA tow (first of the year). read more

I've experienced great service and they've bailed me out in multiple binds. Prompt and accommodating service! If you read a number of these 1 star reviews. You quickly realize AAA is the middle man in many of the problems. read more

terrible experience. Triple A should discontinue using them. My wife had a flat tire on a rural dirt road . Dave's towing said they couldn't get there for at least 2 hours and said they'd call 1/2 hour before they would arrive and she could leave the car. They called her and said the tow driver was almost there. I got there in 20 minutes with the keys. By now it was dark. I asked the tow truck driver if he was going to change the tire or tow it. His response to me was "I've been waiting for over a half an hour. Go get someone else!" Then got in his truck and drove off. Got another tow truck from Triple A who came out right away. When I told him what had happened he described the driver and said he hears stories like that about him often. read more

I was in an accident and needed my car towed back to our residence so the insurance company could come and inspect it. Not only did it take close to 5 hours for them to go pick my vehicle up from the side of the road but they also brought it back to their own shop rather than where both the police and myself asked them to take it. If your vehicle is in a safe spot it's faster and less of a headache to tow it yourself. read more

No better scam artists around than these guys. They do not put cars back together in any proper form. Your better off asking your cat to do your mechanic work for you. Save your self the pain and go somewhere else that won't try to rip you off or scam you. read more

On August 10, a brake line popped on my Yukon in Liberty Maine on Rt 3. I used the emergency brakes to stop the auto and broke the cable.... but managed to stop the vehicle. I called AAA and received GREAT roadside assistance and, a tow to your recommended repair shop - Dave's Auto Repair & Towing in Ellsworth Maine. I have only high praise for the tow operator. I paid $159. a tow of 53 miles because this service center was approved and well rated. It was the best and closest repair shop. On Monday, I called Dave's to agree that my brake line and emergency brake would be fixed. Next they called to say that I needed: Rear brake pads, rotors, brake calipers and emergency brake pads. I had little choice but to agree but I told them the car had a safety check the week prior at my mechanic in CT. The car was not ready on Monday and they told me they could get the new rotors to fit on the car. I had to leave it for one more day and the job would be done perfectly. On Tuesday, the car was ready, but the cost was almost $1,000. When I returned to CT I had my mechanic inspect the vehicle and I wanted the emergency cable adjusted as the pedal sunk to the floor upon use. I was told: The safety check of the prior week proved that I in no way needed brakes, rotors...etc. They showed me records that I had new brakes about 30k miles earlier and 16 months earlier. My mechanic told me there was plenty of pad left. They told me that I had been "taken" to spend money with a dishonest dealer. An hour later my service center called to tell me that the levers that engaged the emergency brakes were missing from the car and several replacement parts would need to be ordered to restore the vehicle back to "normal working condition". Dave's Repair left me with no emergency brakes and multiple missing parts. I was assured that the owner would call me but, after two days - no phone call. I was left with an important safety part off the car!! I was taken to buy service and parts that I did not need. I was promised upon pickup that everything was now perfect and, it was not. I had poor customer service and no return call from the owner. I paid my local mechanic $105 for the replacement of the missing parts and $200 in labor to fix the brakes to normal operating parameters and to have a "safe" vehicle! read more

I just learned the following from a friend and found this post on FB: "My youngest son, Jon Bunker ended his life on June 27, 2018...our lives will never be the same. His truck was left at the site ...his widow went to retrieve it from the towing company when it was finally released last week only to discover that she needed to pay $800.00 to have access to it. Words that come to my mind ...greed, heartless, uncaring, selfish, mean... Friends called them, her place of employment called them asking for compassion... this company held their ground. Dave's Auto Repair and Towing Bucksport / Ellsworth Maine refused to release Jon's truck for anything less... Many, if not most of the people in this area live paycheck to paycheck. Businesses in areas like this should be an example of generosity and community by being the first in offering help to victims of unfortunate events such as this. I have no idea whether this post will have any impact but this affront on top of the heartache that we're experiencing needed to be voiced." read more
