Brought my younger brother here for lunch! This was my first time trying Dave's and it's not like the other chicken tender spots popping up. Parking: ample parking across the whole plaza. DOES NOT HAVE A DRIVE THRU which is what I took a star off for. Service: they're pretty quick about getting people through the line. Food does take a little bit to come out, but that's because it's made fresh. It's hot and super fresh once you get it. They have indoor and outdoor dining to choose from. The pickles were mild and not too sour. The fries were crispy and lightly seasoned. The Dave's sauce complements the sandwich and fries. Probably taste a lot better if you add honey. The seasoning has sugar in it, you can taste it behind the paprika and chili powder. The Dave's Sauce is more similar to a burger sauce than that of a Zax Sauce. Service was as fast as can be considering its grand opening. The people were nice and attentive. I ordered the DAVE'S #3: 1 TENDER & 1 SLIDER (hot) W/ FRIES for $13.49 and the Mac n cheese for $3.79. It was too spicy, but I'm not complaining about that. I actually appreciate the heat. What bothered me was the thick fatty pieces in the chicken. I threw most of the chicken away. The fries were okay. The mac and cheese wasn't all that good. I placed my order on the app and requested extra napkins and plasticware, but I wasn't given any napkins or plasticware. I was planning to eat in my car, as I drove nearly 50mins to get there. The sauce that the meal comes with is really tasty. I wish I had known that I would need more. You should be given one sauce per chicken tender, but my meal only came with one small sauce. The reason for the popularity of this place in my opinion is strange considering it's a chicken tender shop and again, in my opinion, the amount of what they have in terms of what they offer based on price is very bloated. SO let's get into it. 1. The parking situation is very limited if you want to park close to the place. They share a small lot between 7-8 business from Starbucks with it's drive-thru traffic all the way down to Five Guys so you'll have to do some circling and hovering. 2. Space. It's cramped inside this place. Interior seats roughly 50 with some outdoor seating for an additional 50 or so and the fact that a good third of the restaurant is the kitchen area compared to what occupied their spot was a MOD Pizza, i'll be cramped for sure. 3. Service: quick to order. The wait, id depends on the buzzer and your the number in which you took your order and there seems to be a good 8-12 minute wait from the moment you pay to the time you get your order. Perhaps it's because they just opened within the year so people are trying this place out. But why? It's just chicken tenders. That's all this place offers is chicken tenders. Either it's your regular degular chicken tender itself or tenders between 2 buns called a Dave's Slider, it's still chicken tender. This is where I'm finding it hard to pay $12.99 for a 2 tender combo. It's tenders. Ok, to be fair. The tenders are bigger than normal average tenders so you are getting an oversized chicken tender. That is fine and I wish I knew that considered I ordered an extra tender for $4.99 so I could have 3 which isn't much of a problem considering Cane's Chicken tenders I can get 6 for that same price but Canes lack the spice level. Let's talk about the flavor and the spice level. I ordered my tenders with medium spice. This is why I am giving this place 2 stars. First off, they cake on the spices but there is appears to be no seasoning to the tenders. Not in the breading and certainly not in the spices. It was bland as bland can be. The spices didn't have a blend behind it. It was just red, chalky, and no kick. Medium spice should have SOME kind of heat. But the fact that there was no spice to it was very disappointing, even for a medium level. It should have something to kick the back of the palette at least. Not overwhelming as that ought to be the extra hote and beyond. I get it but Medium should have some kind of a spice bite. All I got was temperature hot. To be fair, the skin is crunchy, and the chicken was juicy. But that was it. No amount of Dave's sauce (which is quite literally Zax sauce or Cane sauce) could inject any sense of flavor into these tenders. it's great that this place is considered halal but it was disappointing to bite into a chicken tender that looks like it's been seasoned with a good mix of spices but only to discover that there was no spicy kick (even for a medium) and no seasoning between the breaded coating and the meat itself giving a very very bland experience. Unfortunately, flavortown is not where Dave's Hot Chicken will lead you. So to see why this place is out the door in terms of the patrons is odd to me. But if you want an alternative to the Canes or Zaxby's, then this might prove to be the alternative. read more
