Service was pretty quick for day 2 opening. The cashier was friendly and efficient. The place has lots of indoor seating. Drink options were great; soda, slushy, and shakes. Prices are on par with other fast food restaurants in the area

Dave's Hot Chicken is a chain of fast-casual Nashville-style hot chicken restaurants that opened in Los Angeles, California in May 2017. It was founded by Armenian-American childhood friends Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and brothers Tommy and Gary Rubenyan. Kopushyan, the chain's namesake, was a professional chef trained by restaurateur Thomas Keller at three-Michelin-star restaurant The French Laundry. He and his friends had a dream to open their own Nashville-style hot chicken restaurant. After scraping together $900, they opened the first Dave's location which was nothing more than a street food stand in a parking lot. Following word of mouth in local publications and social media, the brand quickly took off. By the following year, the food stand had been replaced by a brick & mortar location at a nearby strip mall. Pretty soon, additional Dave's Hot Chicken locations began popping up all over California and beyond. As of 2025, there are over 300 locations in six countries. My family and I just visited the brand new Dave's Hot Chicken in Hamden, Connecticut for dinner. The Hamden location is the fifth one to open in Connecticut this year (following Milford, Newington, Southington and Stamford). We really liked the interior of Dave's, which featured street art on the walls: a feature that originated at the original Dave's location. I ordered the "1 Tender & 1 Slider w/ Fries" (served with kale slaw, pickles & Dave's sauce) and chose "Extra Hot" for my heat level, my wife had the "2 Sliders w/ Fries" and chose "Mild" heat, and our two sons both had the "2 Tenders w/ Fries" with no heat. We all had a delicious dinner!! We hope to be back again and again!

This is the new establishment that moved into the space where DiBella's used to be. Very vibrant and clean atmosphere, friendly and dutiful waitstaff. I liked the food overall. My top loaded fries were more enjoyable than I thought they would be. Chicken was juicy, tender and flavorful. Fries were crispy and well seasoned. Pickles were crunchy. Kale slaw was creamy and savory with fresh vegetables. Cheese sauce and Dave's sauce were both delicious. Next time I'm getting a large. The "chocolate" shake was a letdown, however. There was barely any chocolate flavor; it was 99% vanilla. The shake was decent for what it was, but why be skimpy on the chocolate? Despite the underwhelming shake, I liked my meal a lot. I look forward to trying their spice levels in the future. Great food.

This reviewer was happy to have one of his family members mention it and there was no turning back? Bella's offers Homemade, Southern Style Comfort Food just like grandma would make? The Cafe consists of generous seating on both sides with a large bar stretching from the front door down towards the middle of the restaurant. We were sitting on the backend portion of identical tables and chairs. Our server was pleasant and friendly and our party of three were about to be very happy with what was in store for us? I was told that we had to arrive early because this popular little neighborhood nook, fills up at a moment's notice? We arrived at 8:00am and it was jamming. The menu has a large variety of breakfast and brunch options with their hours open until 3:00pm, daily I believe?? My only regret and disappointment is that it's been open for seven years and this is the first time I've discovered this wonderful find in the heart of New Haven. I have been looking to come to this place for sometime, but you do need to do reservations for a Saturday night. I didn't want two weeks earlier through Resy. Full disclosure, I get a credit from American Express as part of their partnership with Resy and this is one of the locations that you can obtain that benefit from. We arrived shortly before our reservation time and waited in line as two other groups were turned away as they were all booked up for dinner until much later in the evening. Once inside, I understood as it is not a large dining area. The motive is very Indian forward with images of transportation themes from India, including bicycles on the ceiling above the tables. To start with, the drinks were some of the most flavorful options I have had in some time all with a very traditional Indian twist. I am not big on coconut or tequila, but my wife loved her coconut tequila drink. I thought the Manhattan was a big hit as the date balanced out the flavors perfectly. Even the cold drink, my daughter got reminded me of getting the same back in India. I personally was not a big fan of the mango lassi. My son got but he loved it. It was a bit thick for my taste. With regards to the food options, this reminded me of being in Manak Chok in India. For those that don't know, that is an area in western India known for its street foods and late night dining. The smells and tastes of the food would fit right in there. We started with the Dahi puri. This was a big hit for the entire family. You get six items in the order and this is a great place to start, especially if you like the balance of the street food. The Chaat Dog was also a big hit. We got the option with Lamb covered in chaat. The role was toasted perfectly and the balance of the flavors really hit well. The entire family enjoyed the chicken stuffed naan with the side of the sauce. I will admit it had a bit of a kick, so be careful for those who are not looking for spice forward foods. I have always been a big fan of Chole Bhature (chick peas and puffed whole wheat fried bread). The one here was nearly perfect as served. I was saying to my wife, that it could only be made better with a little bit of raw onion on top. As luck would have it, the waitress overheard my comment and next thing you know, we had a side of chopped onions and lime, the perfect topping for this dish. With regards to the biryani, it was flavorful, though it has never been my favorite thing. It comes with a side of raita as well. Again, that is not something I really enjoy. However, all three of my family enjoyed this immensely, and the serving was so generous, we had a decent amount of leftovers after our meal. We finished the night with some mango kulfi. It was too large scoops as you can see by the picture. This was the perfect sharing dessert for the four of us to conclude our meal. As noted above, our waitress was super attentive and very quick to bring out the dishes and drinks throughout our dinner. I will note that the price point is also great for New Haven restaurants as the complete meal with drinks for all and a dessert came out to $120 before tax and tip. This is definitely a place I would strongly recommend for any in the area. If you're not close by, book a reservation before you come down so it's not to miss out on this amazing experience. It is definitely worth a try if you want a traditional Indian street food experience. They do also have options like more traditional Punjabi style restaurants on the menu, but we focused more so on the street food options during our first visit. I will update further as I experience this place again which I expect to happen in the very near future.
