Here on a brief little surprise event with my wife. Needed a place to grab some food. Found this place located in a mini strip mall. Being from New York, mini malls don't have fond reps. Also it was empty another flag I thought I'd have to wave, but I was wrong on all fronts. This place was really good. First the host/cashier was super nice and helpful, very thorough to make sure our order was right. Wait time was minimal and the food was fresh. Ribs were juicy. Egg rolls crispy and spicy. Ordered the onion loaf. Was just OK. The worker was nice but I had overheard a customer ask for a small thing of mayo and you'd swear he was asking for the secret recipe. The worker had to keep going back to the kitchen to ask, then out the customer, then back ... all for a squirt of mayo -- which they didn't get. ‍ read more

Tried this place for dinner recently. Nothing special about the ambiance, but the person who took my order was kind. I got fried shrimp and chicken tenders. The fried shrimp were flattened, which made scooping up sauce easy; I also like that they removed the tails. They tasted pretty good. Tartar sauce was good but the cocktail sauce was great. The chicken tenders were also very good but a little dry. Thankfully, they gave me plenty of dipping sauce for them. The BBQ sauce was good but a little too sweet. The Sweet n Sour sauce was very good. The baked beans were delicious, just how they should be. The sweet potato fries were unfortunately disappointing; at least half of them were burnt. Overall this place is pretty good. They give good value with their entrees since you get two sides with the order, so I'll be back to try more dishes, but I won't be getting the sweet potato fries. read more

Went in Hamden location to pick up an uber order asked the lady behind counter if I can use bathroom she said no only paying customers I said my customer I'm picking up for paid for this food she said sorry can't use bathroom unless you buy food I asked for manager she said he's out on delivery I said I will wait for him she went in kitchen 20 seconds came out said I called him he's not coming back I will never go in that place again !!!!!!! read more

I have order take out twice from this location. The first time I order in the restaurant the second over the phone. Both times there was confusion while ordering. I suppose this is due to them being fairly new and are under going training but it is annoying if I know the menu better than the staff. It's a small place with only a few tables so primarily a takeout location. Parking in this area isn't great anyway. The first time I ordered ribs, Mac and cheese, corn bread, steak and cheese egg rolls, a cookie, and country fried wings. The ribs were just ok. Nothing I feel I couldn't do at home in the oven. The Mac and cheese was uneatable. I couldn't describe it but maybe rancid. The corn bread was also just ok it was a nice chunk though. The egg rolls were also just ok a bit dry. The wings were the saving grace. Absolutely amazing. And the only reason why I decided to go for a second try. My second experience I only ordered the wings. Late dinner stop to try this relatively new location. The front girl was not particularly welcoming. A dour expression and manner. Ordered BBQ Chicken. Was told it was smoked. It was served in a takeout bag, despite no request for our order to be takeout. The 2/2 Chicken was roasted and served with a drenching of BBQ sauce that had been applied just before boxing. The sauce was not great and the chicken was not smoked and had little taste except for the BBQ sauce.. my sides were a corn muffin, which was OK and a rather poor tasting Cole slaw, which seemed to have a sour taste. My guest had baked beans, which had a generic can bean taste and the same bad Cole slaw. For a legit BBQ experience, I suggest you go elsewhere. Small flavorless overpriced proportions. Three burnt ends and less than 10 barely meated ribs in a Large. The baby back were sour and very dry. Watery tasteless beans. Only 8 greasy chicken wings that came with 3 dehydrated thin celery sticks along with a disgusting dressing that can't be called 'blue cheese' because there were no chunks in the serving. They certainly didn't learn anything or care the same as the prior EH generation. Avoid and go elsewhere. read more

Yet another BBQ place in CT that doesn't hold a candle to the Carolina's. When will we ever get REAL BBQ??? The back Ribs were overcooked and dried out. The Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese was actually good, but the corn bread crumbles on top don't make sense as their cornbread side wasn't bread it was a small corn muffin that seemed like it had been sitting for hours. I'll have to give the Brisket a whirl one of these days but I doubt they'll come close to the Brisket I used to get at a Grocery store in Newington that's closed now. "Fresh Market" had a smoker in the deli and would have Brisket, Pastrami, and sometimes Smoked Corned Beef Brisket that were all unbelievably great. Even better it was very close to work. read more

Anyone giving this place more than o stars has no idea what BBQ food should be like: pulled pork was so dry that a starving animal would be unwilling to swallow it; baby back ribs are advertised but not what you get. They serve full sized, burnt edged pork ribs, tough to the bite and the only flavor is cheap, astringent vinegar, (no smoke flavor or molasses) they are nothing like the business called The Rib House, on the shoreline, served. I wonder where the original recipe/prep style went. The BBQ sauce could be used to clean your garage/cellar floors, not eaten, must be cleaning vinegar (6%) in it with a dribble of ketchup. All of this awful food presented on the July 4th Holiday week-end. I know about the vinegar style BBQ, made for some Church celebrations and it was delicious, but not at this place. read more

Food was great barbecue, service was excellent, but unfortunately there are only 2 tables with 4 chairs each. People expecting to dine in could be faced with walking out to eat in their cars ( bbq is messy). Many people I know would not chance the drive there with that uncertainty. Ordered the Carolina Chicken Sandwich for take out. Fries were in a paper bag, not sure why when there was plenty of space in the container. Fries had no salt whatsoever. Coleslaw (not pictured) was terrible in my opinion. Spit out the bite I took. Sandwich was on a bun that appears home made and undercooked? I thought this was going to be a pulled chicken sandwich because it is a bbq place. Got a small piece of crispy chicken on their giant bun. The chicken and sauce weren't bad. There was lots of bacon. Overall probably won't be recommending or returning. read more

Baby back rib meat was tough. Store bought beans straight from a can. Slaw was unremarkable. Not a serious BBQ place.
