Dave's Dave's #4: 1 Slider with Fries

I can't decided what was better our food or the service. I ordered a Dave's #4 hot with Mac and cheese and it was sooo goood!!!! It was fresh and very hot!!! This was my first time at Dave's and Trisha took such good care of my friends and I. If I can come back I would but I live out of state 10/10 food 100/10 service!!!

Don't walk to this place, RUN! Compliment to the chef. My wife and I ordered #3 to try the sliders and the strips. It was out of this world. The slider was juicy. Full of flavor. Spicy as we liked the hot sauce. The bun was soft and buttery. Loved the fries and the pickles. The chicken strip was large well cooked and quite tasty. Don't miss this spot. Its the real spot for fried and hit chicken. These three guys did their homework before opening. Hooray! Will be back soon.

Carolina Reaper sandwich.

The boys in Blue Öyster Cult had it down right when they said Don't Fear the Reaper. At least where Dave's Carolina Reaper slider is concerned. I thought heat had finally met its match when I read a news story saying Dave's made customers sign a liability waiver when ordering a sandwich or chicken tender including Carolina Reaper peppers. "You acknowledge that eating the REAPER can cause you harm, including, but not limited to, bodily injury, property damage, emotional distress, or even death," the waiver reads, according to news reports. I wouldn't know since the staff at the Meridian restaurant didn't mention anything about a waiver and didn't even warn me that I could die or suffer a worse fate after eating my sandwich. Still, I didn't take any chances. I ordered a chocolate milkshake to go with my meal. Milk helps pull away the capsaicin, the pain-invoking compound found in chile peppers. Soda pop, beer or water just spreads the burn. Here's what Tim Carman of the Washington Post wrote about his experience: "When I finally grabbed my order of reaper chicken, I could feel the heat before I tasted it. Its mix of chile peppers, including the Carolina Reaper with its 2.2 million Scoville units, vaporized and entered my system via the nose, like a virus. If you want to know what fear smells like, this is it. I tore off a piece of tender and popped it in my mouth. The reaction was immediate. I started to cough. My mouth turned blisteringly hot, as if I had just mistaken a curling iron for a candy stick. Water was pooling around my tongue. I began to breathe heavily, with an open mouth, like a dog at the beach. I sucked down a third of my shake, which provided only brief comfort. I had two bites and quit." My experience was quite different. There was a bite to the sandwich, but it barely made an impact on my tongue and it produced hardly any sweat. Dave's chicken sandwich didn't compare to the hottest meal I've ever eaten. That came at an Indian restaurant in Hong Kong, where the heat of a curry neared the height of my tolerance. Unlike Dave's where you have seven levels of heat to choose from, that restaurant served it up at one level, searingly hot. The quad habanero pizza at Flying Pie was also considerably hotter than Dave's chicken sandwich. Still, it wasn't a bad sandwich. I'd place it a few notches below Popeyes, where their sandwich has a much better crunch and the piece of meat is much larger.

Halal Certificate

Today I stopped by Dave's Hot Chicken and was absolutely blown away by their chicken tenders -- crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor! What really made my visit special was finding out that all their chicken is Halal! As someone who looks for Halal options, this was a huge win. Even better, they proudly display their Halal Certificate for transparency -- I've attached a photo for anyone curious! The staff were friendly, the service was fast, and the vibe was fun and welcoming. It's not every day you find a spot that nails both the taste and dietary standards so well. Idaho might not have Halal Guys (yet!), but with places like Dave's Hot Chicken leading the way, I'm hopeful more Halal-friendly restaurants will follow. Highly recommend to anyone craving quality hot chicken with peace of mind.

Dave's.....did we just become best friends? You know me. Somehow, someway, you have been watching me since high school all those decades ago and you know me. Okay folks, food is flipping delicious. Let's just get that out of the way. Doesn't matter what you get it's gunna be bangin. Bit of info, the medium was...well very medium and is a good choice for those who are heat sensitive. Hot was not overpowering but could start to feel a little bit, really I would have gone up to very hot now knowing what I know. Cheese fry's on point, chicken on point, seasoning...on point, coke establishment...you get the idea. But I want to talk about the actual establishment. It's got some serious bayside high meets early how am I a millennial again vibes going on (saved by the bell for those who just don't know). It's like you are sitting in the Max cafe with your click and just eating good grub. Service was fantastic and helpful. And don't even get me started on the music playlist. LFO, NKOTB, Sugar Ray....good lord I swear I was feeling faint I was so happy. It's like I have found a part of me that's always been missing. This place is my fast casual soul mate. Awesome food, awesome place. Recommended, why aren't you there already? Go and eat up Boise.

This place is a solid 3.5. The chicken looks like it is hand breaded. It is super moist. The buns on the sandwich was pretty awesome also. Soft. Seemed like a potato bread. I could be wrong. . I got the medium heat and honestly, there wasn't any heat at all. Maybe go another level if you want to taste some spice. The fries I got extra crispy. They were good. Seasoned well. Their fry sauce was basic. Wish it had some sort of kick to it. The pickles had a great crunch. The other order was supposed to come with cheese fries, I think they forgot. We didn't get them. When you walk inside they are BUSY!! The guy at the front counter was super friendly and was very helpful when it came to the menu. He was awesome. I didn't get his name. The music in the restaurant was a tad loud. My date and I went to the outdoor seating just because if we had sat inside it would have been harder to hear each other. I think maybe the restaurant has great acoustics so the sound is amplified. The art in this restaurant is really awesome. I wonder if it was hand drawn or was it some sort of template. Would I eat here again? I'd probably try it one more time.

An hour in the drive thru - I understand it's highly anticipated but the end result according to my wife was not worth it. She was not impressed and we won't be going back anytime soon.

Barely half full kale slaw

Loved this place last year but with the last two times, although their chicken is great! Our family won't be ordering here anymore. Last time I ordered they gave me bad slaw and it was barely filled halfway and cauliflower bites that were pricey and didn't have them all.. and then this time, they put basically no slaw in my sandwich or my husbands. Super lame (First two pics are an order from a few months ago and the sandwhich is from today)

Dave's Hot Chicken specializes in Nashville-style hot chicken. It was created by three best friends, one of who was a chef trained at Thomas Keller's French Laundry restaurant. His goal was to create the best Hot Chicken. I recently visited Dave's Hot Chicken in Meridian for the first time. I ordered Dave's #5 ($7.99) - 1 Chicken Tender with Fries, served with sliced bread, pickles and Dave's sauce. There are 7 seasoning options available, ranging from No Spice to Reaper; I chose Hot. This was my first time trying Nashville-style hot chicken. The chicken tender was large and coated with seasoning. The meat inside was tender and steaming hot. My chicken tender was indeed Hot. I liked the seasoning, though there was a slightly sweet note that I didn't care for. Most will find the slight sweetness a nice balance to the heat. The chicken tender was fairly large. My photo does not do it justice. If I had ordered two chicken tenders, I would have ended up taking one of them home. The french fries were excellent! I loved Dave's sauce, which paired perfectly as a dipping sauce for both the chicken and fries. It's by far the best package sauce of its kind that I've ever tried. There are also packets of Crystal Hot Sauce available, which has been a Louisiana favorite since 1923. The pickles were great too! The service was excellent! I liked the fun decor. The only thing I didn't like about Dave's Hot Chicken was how loud it was due to all of the hard surfaces. But there is drive-through window, and everything is cooked to order, so it's perfect for take-out. If the reason you haven't visited Dave's Hot Chicken yet is because you don't like spicy food, keep in mind that they do have chicken available at all levels of spice, including No Spice, which is going be like a nice fried chicken tender. Highly Recommended!!! -- at Dave's Hot Chicken.

Wow!!! Dave's Hot Chicken has the best chicken sandwich I have ever tasted. The chicken is perfectly cooked and has a nice bite and crunch to it. You can tell everything is made fresh to order. You can choose your spice level. The sandwich is served with slaw and pickles. Their fries are perfectly seasoned and served with fry sauce! We tried this place last week for the first time and have already been back twice. The service is exceptional and quick and the dining room is clean!

How does this place have such good reviews? My did tastes old and like spoiled chicken. The chicken without the seasoning tastes ok, but the hot chicken and the fries taste awful. I'm hoping I don't get sick from this. I know it's Friday night and it's midnight but that's unacceptable. At least I was able to eat one of the sliders.

I've eaten in twice, though majority of my experiences have been through DoorDash. We order at least once a month from here and let me just say they have THE BEST quality control for a restaurant. The portion of food they give you is always the same and it tastes incredible. Our go-to order is the gyro shawarma with fries, the chicken shawarma with Greek rice, a side of the gyro Greek fries, and the slice of chocolate pistachio cake. The meat is always well cooked with a healthy fixing of veggies. They even have the option to put no dairy which is great for my lactose intolerant husband. The crinkle cut fries are well crisped, perfectly salted, and a good amount of gyro meat mixed in. I would definitely recommend dining in here as well. They've got a vibrant decor and the staff are very friendly. A great casual restaurant in the valley!

After being the only two sitting in the restaurant for 10 minutes, someone brought us menus. Another 10 later, they came back for our order. It was a tad frustrating because an item I wanted to order had a well-worn sticker blocking it out. Placed our food and drink order. Several minutes later, someone different came from the back and said one of the two items was also not available. So another item was chosen. Drinks were not delivered (tea and a water) until the food came 20 minutes later. And the water was a tiny 8-ounce bottle of water. 1.5 hours and we were the only diners. That says something. Food - Of what we could order, the chicken tikka was good but not amazing. 4 stars. The lamb kabob was amazingly bland and tough. So disappointing as I typically love lamb. 2 stars. The hummus was thin and tasted too sour with no flavor dimension to it. Was it old? Better hummus has a slight nutty flavor to it and this needed more garlic. 3 stars. Rice actually had decent flavor. 4 stars. We had both the pistachio and walnut baklava. As a baklava connoisseur, the walnut was far better flavor and texture but both seemed dry and old. Bread was okay. When I look at the number or reviews from those in CA or OR with less than 5 reviews on their account (all giving 5 stars) - it seems clear that people want free baklava or hot tea, as they advertise at the table when you sit down. But they need to read your review first before getting the token item. I have better ethics and higher standards than that. Maybe the restaurant section is on the slide. For a $20 entree, not worth it. There is better in Boise.
