I grew up in Los Angeles and genuinely loved Dave's Hot Chicken and what the brand represented. I've been a fan for a long time, which is why my experience at the Capitol Hill location in Seattle was so disappointing. I came in simply trying to figure out whether my order had gone through. Instead of someone calmly helping me understand what happened, I felt like the employees immediately became defensive and argumentative. I was told that my order hadn't gone through when it actually had, and when I tried to explain what happened and that I had been waiting, I felt like I was basically being told that I was lying. I know how long I waited, and I know what happened. What bothered me most wasn't even the mistake with the order. Mistakes happen. It was how quickly the interaction became confrontational instead of someone just listening and trying to solve the problem. I was more than willing to have a normal conversation and figure things out, but I did not feel like I was given that same respect in return. I have supported Dave's for years, going all the way back to growing up in Los Angeles. That is exactly why this experience was so upsetting. A brand should value the people who have supported it, not make them feel like they have to fight just to be heard. I really hope the Capitol Hill location takes customer service, de-escalation, and how employees communicate with customers more seriously. As a girlie from Los Angeles, the Seattle location isn't it. They're franchising for the money and don't care about anything but money in a new market. The first time I tried this location, I literally got a parking ticket because the order took much longer than expected. My recent experience here was the final time. Instead, I received two containers of mac and cheese that were honestly not even edible to us and did not receive the fries I paid for. I have attached photos showing exactly what was delivered. What makes this even more frustrating is that there is apparently no way to contact the restaurant directly. If there's an issue with your order, you're routed to a generic feedback form that offers no immediate assistance, no customer service, and no real way to resolve the problem. I didn't want a survey. I wanted the food I actually ordered. It's incredibly disappointing that they can make a mistake with an order and then create a system where customers have no practical way to reach someone who can fix it. TLDR: food was mid and vibes were weird. This was my first time eating at DHC, I've always been put off by the long lines that always seems to be present, but we wanted a chicken sandwich and Mt. Joy has closed. The line was moving at a snail's pace so we ended up mobile ordering, and after sitting down to wait for our food we realized it was taking so long because everyone was ordering on the tablet themselves, but despite orders being put in so slowly the kitchen seemed to have a very long wait time. Other customers seemed to be quite annoyed with the wait time as well, with many going up and checking on the status of their orders. There were 2 workers up front putting together drinks and bagging food for customers. They both had a very relaxed, too chill attitude at some points. One of them came back from the restrooms, and then walked back behind the counter and immediately started putting people's orders together without washing his hands, gross. The other one was on his phone when there were breaks between orders coming out of the kitchen, and would frequently touch his hair/face, and would dap up people he knew and then went back to putting orders together. There was just a concerning lack of handwashing which is needed when dealing with food. The food itself was okay. We got loaded mac sliders with fries, and the hot mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were pretty gross, with a weird powdery "hot" coating that didn't taste good, or that hot. I witnessed one of the strangest customer service interactions at Dave's Hot Chicken last night. The restaurant was packed, and it was pretty obvious the employees were overwhelmed. At one point, a customer had been waiting roughly 40 minutes for an order of fries. What made it worse was that people who had ordered full meals AFTER this customer had already received their food and left. Eventually, the customer walked up to the counter and calmly asked about the order. The employee told him he'd be with him in a minute. The customer explained that he had already been waiting 40 minutes for fries and that people who ordered after him had gotten their entire meals. The employee told him to "look around." The customer responded, "You look around. All these people will get their meals before my fries." At that point, the employee essentially told him to go away. The customer said he would just like to speak to a manager and get a refund. The employee questioned why he would want a refund, and the customer basically responded that he should use critical thinking and explain why someone who had been waiting 40 minutes for fries wouldn't get them before people who ordered full meals after him. Then things took a VERY unnecessary turn. The employee told the customer to "get the fuck out." The customer responded in kind. Then the employee threatened the customer, saying that he "may not make it home." Yes. Over. An order. Of. Fries. Another employee eventually slid some fries across the counter toward the customer. Unfortunately, they were burnt. I understand being overwhelmed during a rush. I understand orders getting lost. I understand mistakes happening. What I don't understand is threatening a customer over a legitimate question about a missing order. A 40-minute wait for fries is frustrating. Being told to leave for asking about it is unprofessional. But threatening someone and implying they may not make it home crosses an entirely different line. I wanted to check out the hype and incidentally was in Cap Hill. This place was packed. I wasn't expecting a line on Saturday lunch time. Minimal decor with good seating. The guy taking the order was let's just say doing his job. We got the Dave's #3 with a hot tender and extra hot slider. It comes with fries which are seasoned and real good When our order came about 10 min later it looked really good. And the first bite set the tone. Great late night stop as they stay open veryyy late every day. Ambiance is loud and definitely a lot of college kids and teens. We had a group of 3 boys cut the line in front of us and another couple to join their already large group of over 4 boys in front. Oh well but annoying and you'll see the entitlement. The chicken at this location good, but the dry seasoning was a bit overdone where the chicken was a little bitter and left me with a powdery taste. The Dave's chicken bites were also not seasoned consistently. Some had good seasoning while other pieces did not. This place is busy being in Cap Hill and close to Seattle U. The line was long and it's a war to find seating, but we came out victorious. The food took a reallllly long time to come out (but this was expected). My 12 yo daughter has been asking me to take her here so here we are today on Sunday lunch time. It must be a hot spot on the internet or amongst influencers or something? It was pretty crowded but we did not have to wait much at all. When we were about to leave though, the line to order was getting quite long. The service was quick and good and our order came out very fast. Once you place the order, they give you a pager. You can go find seats and go pick up the order when your pager rings. A pretty straight forward system. The nenu is not overall complicated at all either. They do not give free water cups but they sell plastic water bottles. They also do not have forks or utensils (unless I missed them). You are expected to just use your hands and wash your hands afterwards. And it gets very messy haha. Which again, I did not mind. The food is great. How can this be bad though? It was quite comparable to Hattie B's (Hattie B's is slightly less saucy and more crunchy). The breading was quite on the light side and the tenders were softer (tender) and not as crunchy. Which I did not mind honestly but it is a style difference that some would prefer or not. Because of the lighter breading, It didn't feel like fried chicken much. Me and my daughter ordered the combo they came with a slider, tender, and fries. We chose Medium spice for that order and we ordered another side of tender with "Hot" heat level. Both medium and hot were not spicy at all. To me, anyway.
