The orange sauce is sweet so you are getting a "sweet and savory experience" but didn't work for me. I tried the chicken and honey (not my vibe) but some may like it! Solid place overall but if you're looking for the typical Nashville-style hot chicken, it's a little different since the only chicken offerings come in chicken tender form (either tender vs tender in a slider) instead of a choice of breast, thigh, or wing pieces. There are different combos to choose from which come with pickles, a side of fries, piece of toast, and Dave's sauce. After driving by a few times in the weeks after their opening, we finally found a time when the line wasn't completely out the door and got our food within 30 minutes. The chicken is tasty overall and isn't dry at all. We tried the tenders combo and the 1 tender and 1 slider combo. The mild and medium heat levels were just right for us, and the pickles and creaminess of Dave's sauce helped balance the spices. The slider comes with a slaw which adds a freshness to the sandwich. Since they're fairly new, there are a few kinks I think they're working still out in terms of managing lines and orders - we ordered online another time and it took about an hour to get our food, but hope that things will settle out as they get into the swing of things because the chicken is pretty delicious. read more

I ordered the #1 which was two tenders with fries, it felt a little pricey at over $13 after tax for a meal that came with a very small portion of fries and no drink. You can select your spice level which includes no spice, lite mild, mild, medium, hot, extra hot, and reaper (this last one you have to sign a waver for). I decided to go with the medium spice, but to me it did not taste spicy at all. Flavor was pretty good but overall the chicken was just greasy, kind of a bummer. Their team was friendly and fast. They just opened so it was really busy, definitely anticipate a wait. I think it also would be better if they had a drive through, but interestingly enough they don't. The sandwiches and chicken tenders themselves are seasoned well and they come in a variety of spice levels to suit anyone's preferences. The problem was that the tender size varies so much that my sandwich had a really little chicken finger for the price. The fries were nearly perfect, but that sandwich was almost all bun. I went back to get just a single finger for the road, and it was a lot bigger, and and the friendly staff even sped up the order for me so I could get it quickly to go. The chicken is juicy and crispy, the slaw is OK, pickles are good, and they give you extra sauce. It was $17 for two sliders (no drink, 20% tip). Eating these like a hotdog is the best way to do it, because of how the chicken is shaped, but you don't get everything each bite. I think I could go up to extra hot next time. My experience at Dave's was like a journey going from not good to good overall. Some items were 2-star, some were 4, so I settled on 3. I ordered the #3 combo which has a slider, chicken tender, and fries. Add in a bottled soda and the total came to $17.37. I started with the chicken tender. It's huge with a lot of breading which is good and bad. Two problems: lack of chicken and lack of a flavor profile. See the picture for a cross-section of the tender. I don't necessarily have a problem with that but the dominating flavor is cayenne pepper. I like that as a spice, but not as a flavor. So off the bat I wasn't very happy. I dipped it into the sauce which only made a small dent in the lack of flavor. The sauce isn't bad but kind of mild overall. Not something like Raising Caines. I went in for the fries which are crinkle cut which is my favorite, but they dust them with a red powder that again just takes away from the flavor overall. Throw in my $2.99 bottled drink and I was ready for a 2-star review. Then I got to the slider. Big difference. They add soft bread, sauce, pickles, and coleslaw which gives it a tangy pop. The chicken fits in with the flavor profile overall on this one. Everything came together nicely. I was surprised at the difference between this and the tender. One last knock: sodas. They have a fridge behind the counter with bottles of soda like it's 1967. I didn't know they had fountain drinks until I went around the corner and saw the machine there. I drink a lot, especially with spicy food, so I was bummed they kind of hid it away. I didn't want to get back in line for a refund/repurchase. Overall the place is clean and conveniently located. The staff were really friendly. Plenty of parking. The food is made to order so it's really hot which is a huge plus in this day and age. Only takes a few minutes to get your order. Lots of heat levels so you can choose one to your liking. I might try it again but I'm not sure. I'd have to be in the mood for the chicken sandwich and I'll skip the fries and tenders. read more
