Pretty impressive. Staff was friendly and very prompt. We had the pork ribs, and chopped pork sandwiches under the one and two meat option. Sides we had were potato salad(excellent ),creamed corn, coleslaw, of course they came with cornbread muffins. We could not eat it all, but it was tender, juicy and delicious. Wonderful food, service, and eating environment. The entire staff helped my Leo sister and I celebrate our August birthdays. My husband and I walked in and it smelled great, and the staff was super friendly. While ordering, however, my husband watched the person prepping the food reach his foot over and squash a large cockroach. While getting our drinks, there was a dead fly on the counter in front of the soda machine. Only one of the booths had been cleaned, but it was nice that they brought the food over to us. The food was alright..I wouldn't say $55 worth for two people to get two small sides, a cornbread muffin, and maybe about 1/2lb of meat each. The cornbread and Georgia pork were the two that made me give a third star. I don't think we'll be coming back, though, unfortunately...the lack of cleanliness matched with such a high price tag for what we got just isn't worth it. read more

It's always a hit or miss when I come here. I gave them a try about two weeks ago and I was not disappointed, so I came back again today for another try. My go to is two meat combo that comes with two meats and two sides. I usually get the the country chicken and the rib tips. I absolutely love the rib tips, but sometimes they are dry/overcooked and inedible. If you catch them on a good day, the rib tips are delicious and moist and pair great with the southside sauce (today was a good day). I love their fries, the Wilbur beans are delicious too. Today was my first ordering the creamed corn and when i arrived to pick up my order I was told they didn't have any, so I got the Mac and cheese (jalapeños diced in it for a kick was nice, they use a cheese sauce) If you order through the app, the wait times are not accurate. They are usually under staffed, so be prepared for a wait. read more

Got Takeout from here last night, and I really wish I would have taken heed to the reviews and just ordered elsewhere. I ordered the pick two feast and got rib tips and the St. Louis ribs, along with macaroni and cheese and french fries. The meal wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. I was really disappointed in the ribs, as I was expecting immaculate flavor. Once upon a time I really liked Famous Dave's...I'm not sure what's happened, but my ribs were very basic as was the rest of the meal, the sides, and the meals of those who ordered with me. If I could, I'd have give them a 1.5. Upon entering, my order was taken immediately. My sandwich was made quickly, ready to go in under 2 minutes. The man who took my order was taking a long order over the phone. I tried taking my order & bagging it but was told by the cook that "corporate policy" (that one again) does not allow. 5 minutes went by, I'm standing there totally ignored. Excellent value for average barbecue. I have yet to find a go to barbecue spot in Tucson, but if you need some thing that's convenient and solid, this is not a bad place to try. You order at the counter, so there wasn't a ton of interaction, but the staff seemed friendly and willing to help. The inside had a neat feel and it was very clean. The sandwiches and sides were both mediocre but definitely good bang for your buck. read more

I stopped to pick up a meal.. the meal comes with a choice of sides and pickles. I got the chopped pork sandwich with a side of coleslaw. You have a choice of several different sides like fries, broccoli and a few others. I tried to see the menu online but you only see it when you start an order which is too bad. Anyway the pork was more shredded than chopped like the picture but that was good for me. It came with 2 types of barbecue sauce packets but there is already their rich and sassy sauce on it. I did add more sauce though. Meat was pretty tender but a bit dry. Extra sauce was appreciated. Pickle slices were spicy and good. Coleslaw was good. Overall was good but nothing special. read more

Just ordered a chicken salad from here. The greens were so wilted and not fresh. The person who made this salad just threw lettuce in the box with no thought on how a salad should look. The chicken was ok and just shredded on top of lettuce. I tried a small side of creamed corn and it had no flavor. I also tried a small banana pudding and that did have flavor. Born and raised Texan here, I had the Texas brisket, jalapeño sausage, Mac n cheese and red potato hash, and banana pudding. This is some of the best BBQ I've had in a very long time. Matt at the counter was a joy to talk to and he helped me choose some of his favorites, he talked to us and was so kind and helpful! The place was clean, well kept and all the staff were great. I wish I had a picture of the food to share but I absolutely cleaned the platter before thinking of it or picking up my phone for that matter. This place should be rated 5 stars. So, as of 2020/2021, it appears that 'Dave's' has a new restaurant house and not sure why they moved... The new house is freshly designed, open, beautiful and appearance is highly attractive. It is however, small like a satellite restaurant if you will. Staff is friendly and gave us a free sample after questioning the flavor or their in house potato salad. Never being to one of these 'micro' versions of the larger style restaurants, I noticed the reviews for this restaurant were'nt stellar so it got me pondering, why? This new location is in a wonderful area geographically for Tucson restaurants and it's upscale in design. I came here in January 2021 with a party of 7. The pricing was a bit high on behalf of the entire crew that was with me in relation to the portion size(s), maybe, they'll adjust that in the future?? Overall, the restaurant was visually highly appealing, smelled delicious and the meal was crazy fast to our tables. I ordered the burnt end/tips but really would wished the portion sizes were a smidgen more. Though the brisket was certainly delectable, I can't say the in house made potato salad was a win - for me, but hey, to each their own. The restaurants accouterments table was unused due to C-29 restrictions, so the appearance of barely used is still present which is a shame because the restaurant is beautifully designed. Though, no spatial plastic dividers amongst the tables like you see at other restaurants. To me, they're silly in the first place as they'll certainly NOT stop viruses and the point behind them is mute to me in the first place so glad to see they didn't waste finances on installing those. Either your here to eat or not...get to it. Veteran, Police and 1st responder discounts is a nice thing to see for the community! Meal was good, and I would recommend it for anyone. read more

I used to love this restaurant back in Chicago. The meal that I ordered at the restaurant here in town tastes nothing like the food back in Chicago. Not sure why. I don't see myself going back to this restaurant here in town, and it was also very expensive compared to Chicago. My husband had burnt ends and I had ribs that were very dry, small and no sauce. The cornbread was okay. The service was fast but they demanded a tip which my husband paid even though this is was a self service restaurant. Not cool! Did not care for the ambiance. read more

Our office Tucson Vein, ordered from Famous Daves BBQ on Speedway today. Didn't know what to expect. I spoke to a very nice man on the phone Tony. I told him we had an office full of 8 employees that we wanted to get a combination of food. He informed me of all the different options I had and we worked something out that was a good fit for what we were looking for. I told him I could come get it as soon as they could have it ready. It was around 11:45am and he told me it would be ready in 10 minutes! It was ready. The food was amazing. We were able to feed everyone and it was all hot and delicious. To think there are still places around with great food, great customer service and a good price. We will for sure be back. Thank you. read more

Have not been to a Famous Dave's for years and that was a traditional restaurant not this strip mall variety. I have to say the flavor of the food was what I remembered, very tasty though not enough. I remembered always being stuffed in the past. Whether it was because of changes in franchise, COVID, or because it is a strip mall version of store, I was not impressed But I know the majority of the reason I was left wanting was because of the service. The was one guy doing food prep an he was quick. The only other employee which I assume was the manager was unfocused. I walked up to the register and literally stood there 5 minutes before he took my order. I almost walked out. I saw another couple do that later. He flit around cleaning tables, delivering food, everything but taking orders. Maybe it is as simple as having someone else there during lunch service times. They may survive on takeout but do not go in store dining. Service is number one in my food experience so I won't be back. read more
