Dave's Got Chicken, and boy is it good! Love this chain and this location. Never disappoints. Way better than Dan Dan in Milwaukee

Date of visit: October 23, 2025 I've only really had Dave's Hot Chicken one time before--right when they opened they stopped into our office with a number of samples to encourage us to come in. I don't do lunch very often, but when I had a meeting with my boss this seemed like a nice change of pace and also ensured that I wasn't cheating on my husband by going to Raising Cane's without him! Online ordering was easy and the food was ready when I got there. Staff located my order, confirmed I had a shake that needed to be made, and got me on my way fast and painlessly, just the way that it should be. My chicken bites were quite good with both the included sauce and a little bit of honey. The fries were a mixed bag--some were nice and crunchy, others were a bit mushy and too close to Culver's for comfort so I did not finish them, but overall was a great meal. read more

Alright Dave, I see you! I love the seasoning on this chicken. I've tried a few times now and consistently enjoy the robust amount of seasoning on this bird! Unlike its bland counterparts in the area, this one rises above. I love how plump, flavorful, juicy, and zesty this chicken is. They also have a variety of spice levels to suit your taste buds and your tolerance level. Ordering online is a breeze, too. I do wish it was a little cheaper for 2 tenders and I wish there was a meal option for 1 tender but oh well. Still a great flavored bird. read more

This was the new restaurant of the week even though I have been to another location. This space is a duplex restaurant with one on each side of the building and I think the north side has been 3 different restaurants in about 4 years or so and this is probably the best one because for fast food it's fresh made with good quality ingredients. I will say that compared to the east side location it wasn't fresh from the fryer hot to me placing the order but not in any way cold but rather just warm. The decor is hard core urban with graffiti and diamond plate stainless steel with bold reds. The place was steady with pagers when your food is ready. I ordered the #3 extra hot, one level below reaper which is the hottest and I'm getting reaper next time. Ok the menu is simply with real chicken breast tenders to your spice level served two ways as tenders or sliders mix or match with frys or some up charge sides. Service was timely for how steady they were. My #3 was a slider and a tender that comes with a generic slice of white bread bed for the tender and the slider fully dressed with kale salad, pickles, Dave's sauce on a fresh bun. The crinkled frys were good because they were seasoned nicely. The chicken tenders in my meal seemed like fresh real white meat chicken that were hot taste wise and moist. Honestly I like the slider better because it's a good sandwich so next time I will get the two sliders which aren't that small at all. Overall DHC has a great product which is fresh and they are doing something most chicken sandwich restaurants won't do is to give you a fu#king hot chicken sandwich that makes you sweat on your forehead and your nose run that's delicious. read more

The place is small, busy and loud as all get out. You're not having a conversation in here. But you are getting fire chicken! I get the hot or above because that's what's up. I got it to go and in the bag was one cup of Dave's sauce and one packet of sauce. I was worried it wouldn't be enough but in the end it was fine. I think the meals are a good deal for the amount of food you get. The service leaves a bit to be desired as always (never met a really friendly employee at any location, must be a bad place to work?) but I will certainly be back. Normally, the slow service doesn't bother me because the chicken is so good. I mean we have discussed why it is so good and we could never figure it out. My family and I tried this place on a whim last night. Boy oh boy did they not disappoint! Going into it their sandwiches are called sliders so or the gate I thought I needed more than one. Nope! Their chicken strips are so big the bun just acts as something to help you hold the chicken. The chicken can out so juicy and flavorful we were all shocked, happy and mad all at the same time. We were mad at this place for a few reasons. 1. Why the heck didn't someone bring this place to Wisconsin sooner!? 2. Why didn't they put this closer to my house!? I rarely review anything. We love Dave's in my family hand down. I personally feel that they are way underrate that what thwy deserve. But those who know how good they are, don't need Daves to do anything extra. But this review is not about their food. It is about the service I received at the Wauwatosa, WI location. The shift manager Nick always has great energy and pretty much fills the place and his employess with his energy. The other day I bought the double slider meal. In the app, I meant to order two medium spicy. Buy must have swiped the second one all the way up to Reaper. When I was handed my bag by Nick I realized my mistake. When I told him about it he quick went into the kitchen and had them make me a medium. I offered to pay for this new medium sandwich. But Nick denied and won't let me pay. I realized that that deserved a review. Thanks Nick. And Dave's keep doing the great job that you are. read more

I love Dave's Hot Chicken in general. This location is really busy but though, which isn't bad, but it's a little slower than others. I love the painting on the wall. Tonight, our orders were wrong and I bit a bone, so that was not ideal. read more

We've never been to a DHC before or the other chicken restaurant across the street so after looking at the reviews for both we chose Dave's. And we're so glad we did. The workers were great, very friendly and helpful. And the food was really good with good portion sizes! Don't be deceived by the "sliders" name. They are actually the size of a regular sandwich. We got the medium heat and our son tried the hot and reaper. The reaper is no joke - they make you sign a waiver! The fries are crispy, not soggy, and the seasoning on them is really good. And whatever the Dave's sauce is, that's tasty too. We will definitely be back. read more

I went in this past week and ordered for my family. It was just under $80. My order was wrong. I asked for a manager and a woman named Morgan came from the back. She was very defensive as she approached. She was not wearing a hairnet even though her hair went down almost to her butt. Because I had a hair in another one of my meals, she had them remake my order. Morgan had a snippy tone about the entire ordeal. I was simply looking to get the food I paid for. I love DHC, but this location seems to keep up with everything else on this side of town. It's frustrating for every single time you order and just hope to have it correct. Three out of three times ordering from the Tosa DHC has been incorrect but this time it blew me away. Literally The order was wrong; as in everything was soo spicy that I and my S.O. barely could eat it. I ordered the regular hot and pretty sure we both ended up with the reaper. The first bite was numbing it was so spicy! I know it's named Dave's HOT Chicken, but they also offer mild and medium spicy options for people that may be more sensitive. For the spice differences, I just expect a little more attention to orders and care for the customers. I love the area and have had plenty of great experiences. Maybe because it's new, but the menu is so simple. Tender, slider, spice level. Love the concept! I hope the people that run this location can educate their cooks on being more attentive and caring. I get that it's busy and popular and the cooks might be feeling rushed, but I would rather wait longer and get a correct order over a rushed incorrect, or at worst another customers wrong order that they returned.
