I have to admit I frequent this dive bar in my neighborhood. It's really a gem. The drink prices are perfect and the barkeepers are all so sweet. I love that there is a crew of regulars who we can expect to see and everyone feels comfortable there just chatting with each other - whether you sit at the bar or at a table. The offer regular billiards clubs and I see dart teams there as well. There's no food per se, but we are able to order at the yummy mexican restaurant next door and they deliver food directly to your bar stool. I highly recommend. The ONLY downside to this dive bar is their TVs, they are small and hard to see from the bar. I don't recommend going here if you are a serious fan and want to watch football. read more

So I'm not really sure how to rate Dave's. We've been here about a dozen times. Never turning happy hour always during the evening hours. So, this visit was a first. The place wasn't busy, maybe ten patrons. Bartender served us immediately. One Dos Equis bottle, one Ultra pint. There was a sign in the bar that stated happy hour prices as $2.75 domestic pints, $5.00 domestic small pitchers. Again, service was good. Bartender always asking if we were good. This is why my visit was only 3 stars. We close our tab and the Ultra rang up $3.50. I know it's only $.75 but...so my husband asks. We are told that Michelob Ultra isn't a domestic beer. Huh? Since when? Yep, we were told they price it like an import. I'm sorry if you poll ten people if they consider Michelob Ultra a domestic beer, all of those ten people are going to say yes. read more

Melissa is not a friendly bartender, she doesn't like other girls. Very lazy, A group of 3 of my friends and I are all bartenders and we came In and sat down and realized okay she's not Busy but it doesn't look like she's gonna come take our order so one of our friends goes Up and orders for us and then she comes back and said she needs our IDs and then she comes back for the third time and says okay we need to all bring Melissa our IDs ourselves and then we go to take the IDs to her behind the bar and I put it on the bar and she says don't put it on the bar like that it's rude and I'm not gonna serve you and I said your not even serving us anyways we are practically serving ourselfs and she yells at us to get out of her bar. what a joke. We know How to bartend and be nice to customers and make good tips she doesn't seem to like her job. She wasn't even busy but didn't wanna take care of the customers. Anyways we went down the street to the beaver and the bartender there was the opposite of Melissa she literally said can I please see your pretty ladies ids and it's like WOW can you just see the different of someone who is actually nice and enjoys their job and treats their customers nicely. Dave's is literally losing money by having a mean Melissa behind the bar. yall need to upgrade to someone who appreciates the job and the customers coming in. There's so many bars to choose from and so many bartenders out there, no one has to go to the spot with the lazy chick working and also other people would love to bartender there and make good money and give services with a smile at least. Had a few drinks here a cpl of weeks ago. The bartender Melissa was really nice and helpful. I'm legally blind so they made sure I found the restroom when it was needed. Drinks are fairly priced and the establishment appeared clean with plenty of fun things for it's patrons. They even shared a slice of pizza someone ordered in. Their 'regulars' playing pool and darts were also friendly to this out of towner. My only complaint is there was no decent IPA on tap. I'll definitely visit again if I'm ever visiting the area. read more

This place is one of my spots to come play darts, if I'm in the neighborhood. They have 3 dart machines. The pitchers of beer are pretty cheap as well. They have pool tables for those that like to shoot pool, I know the table I've been requires quarters. They have shuffleboard and a golf video game machine. The service isn't bad, but Allison, Kendra, etcetera were amazing for the bar, but have all pushed on. It's a shame because the owner is losing massive amounts of money, because he doesn't understand what ppl like, a nice bartender. God forbid she's actually hot and knows how to interact with guests. I felt a pop in my leg the other day just shooting around at the gym, so I'm not going out looking for trouble or trying to fight. But for some reason I have been barred from Dave's and The Other Room for simply walking in the steps that I need to take in life. I have overlooked countless things, but yet I'm persecuted for simply raising my voice to contest disrespectful acts. Tonight I was barred from the Other Room for apparently not saying excuse me to some guy as I walked out the door. I put my hand on his shoulder as I walked by, to let him know I was next to him because he was standing directly in front of the door. He then told me after I had passed him to say excuse me. I told him that he was standing right in front of the door. He said this is America and you say excuse me. I assume this was because I appear to be middle eastern, but actually I'm half white and half Mexican. No big deal though. I told this African American brother to use his eyes. Heather the bartender walked up as I was walking out, and the guy told her I wasn't allowed back in the bar. I was intending on leaving anyway, so I disregarded his statement to her. So I was unlocking my bike, and his friend came out to check me. I told him what happened, and he asked me if I said "excuse me" as I passed his friend. The bartender Heather was present and listening to this interaction. I laughed and told the young man to not come out here getting involved in things he knows nothing about. Heather started yelling at me and I told her and her friend I was leaving anyway. I paid for 2 drinks when I came in immediately as I arrived, because I have to work at 11 am at the Herb Box on Shea Blvd in Scottsdale Arizona. I have been serving and bartending for over 25 years and am well aware and adept as to the proper way to act inside of a bar and a restaurant. But since I didn't give Heather the chance to kick me out, she decided to tell me I was barred. Chrissy is the local hag at Dave's on Northern. She has had countless incidents with new employees, when it comes to counting the cash drawer and shift change. I have never had a direct issue with her, but she has not given me great service on multiple occasions on behalf of disrespectful regulars, who have attempted to bully me unsuccessfully. I've never brought any of it up to Chrissy, but I have tipped her much better and bought her frappes from Starbucks since she has seen me enough to acknowledge me and act nice. With that said, I was leaving the bar a cpl weeks ago, and the owner from the Hana House(middle eastern joint next door) was passing by me on the sidewalk. I do love middle eastern food and had had the limited vegan items they offered, as I am vegan. But I noticed the store wasn't very busy, and being in a tough location I thought it could help if they offered some more meat alternatives, such as beyond meat, impossible meat, gardien meat subs, etc. I decided to attempt to convey this message to Muhammad, one of the owners. He was offended and dismissive of everything I had to say. I told him to kiss my ass, as he walked away. Then all of a sudden he had more time to talk shit, after telling me he was too busy to hear what I had tried to take the time to talk to him about in the first place. Since he decided he had more time to talk, I walked up to him and told him I wasn't looking for any compensation from what I was telling him, just that I would enjoy if he had these options and I would spend more money in his store. But unfortunately, as I approached him he picked up a stick he had set aside near the door of his building. I laughed at the thought of the little stick. I humorously invited Muhammad to hit me with the stick. To my surprise Muhammad actually did strike me with the stick and quickly ran inside his front door. I didn't want to get the police involved, so I didn't attempt to enter the building, but I did tap the window with my hand and called him a name. To my surprise Chrissy barred me for this incident. I have left a review for Hana House on Yelp describing the situation, but the owners haven't responded. Instead they have threatened to sue me via message through Yelp. I just have to say, im a regular guy. But I'm not nobody's bitch. If you are a person who thinks like me, Dave's bars might not be the best spot in town for you. I just go there for the darts, but there are other places to shoot. I will definitely be heading in a different direction. read more

Trying to watch a football game here is impossible. The tables are stacked in front of the booths so you can't see the big screen. Pool tables are also placed in front of the booths so you can't see over the people playing. Tv's are too sporadically placed to help. Free hotdogs and cookies give this bar an extra star. read more

They ignore your empty glass, take your order then walk away to wait on 2-3 new customers before getting back to you. Always checking personal phone instead of completing orders. This bar was quite shocking this evening as I observed three young men who was obviously over served, quite loud, starting to fight (so much so patrons had to jump out of the way) yet they were allowed to stay and even received hugs from the bartender on duty. I have seen less behavior tossed out and 86'd. So this is a bar where bad behavior is accepted and is rewarded with hugs; the bartenders obviously favor. Also, observed smokers in front of the front and back doors instead of obeying the law. Patrons had to walk through the smokers smoke while trying wave the smoke away to get into the bar, totally unacceptable. Recommendation: pass up this bar, there is many others more favorable to everyone. read more
