Nice group of people. Kept my vehicle for more than a week to give me a diagnosis. They are very busy and do good work. Also, communication wasn't very good. Basically I just know if I went to the normal shop I use, I would have received a same day at most next day diagnosis and repair. I would have paid the same price for work and not have my vehicle tied up for a week and a half. I did call in to schedule a time to bring my vehicle in to avoid this. But to be fair, I believe they do good work and solid shop. read more

My car has been here multiple times and I'm fed up with letting them "fix" my vehicles problems. I originally had an oil leak they searched along time to find. Found the leak, fixed it allegedly, then took it home for it to still be leaking. Then I bring it back and they tell me where this "new" leak is coming from. They then give me a quote which requires them to pull the engine and transmission to fix the seal that goes between the two. I tell them I can't afford that at the moment so I take the car home and park it. A few months goes by and I can now afford the repair. I take it in telling them about it and that I would like them to fix that as well as some other stuff wrong with the drivability of the car. Only to get a quote back on a leaking oil pan, and to fix some suspension stuff that made the drivability even worse. I don't know what shocks they put on but it isn't OE replacement as I bounce up and down out of my seat at every bump in the road. I don't even want to put my kid in the car because I bounce like I'm on a trampoline. They also didn't fix the sound in the front of the suspension either. So now I'm another 3500 dollars down and none of my problems solved. I'm about 8000 dollars in with worse problems than I showed up with. I've given up on communicating my issues as it feels like I am just opening the door for them to take more of my money without fixing my issues. I'm tired of having my time wasted and what feels like my pockets raided. read more

Sent a request for new brakes and rotors. Received a quick response to verify my vehicle. Shortly after I received a written est for the work requested. They asked if I wanted to bring it in, which I was planning to do. But before I did, I wanted to verify that I wasn't going to arrive and have a higher price. When I verified the information, I was told they made a mistake. Even though the est clearly is written up for the exact work requested, they refuse to honor or even discuss any additional discount for making the error. Instead the excuse was "we would have verified at the counter before doing the work". Which I understand, but had I not verified instead of scheduling an appointment... I would have already been scheduling an appointment, assuming cost, and taking time to go there, just to find out they made a mistake. Not even offering a real apology or hey, we made a mistake, let me do XYZ for you. Instead the messages come across as of well, we don't care. 100 different ways to have responded, and the lack of care was not one of them. Unlikely it is the first time they have made a mistake and tried to get someone in only to present a whole different price to them at the counter. The difference would have been sticker shock compared to what they quoted. The estimate is written up oddly and that was why I questioned it. Mistakes happen, and I 100% understand that. But, how you handle a mistake tells more about the service than the mistake itself, and for that, I do not recommend wasting your time. The price quoted was 1/2 of what they want to charge. That seems like something you catch before emailing it to someone. Calling around the prices are all over the place, and their quote was originally a little higher than 2 other places, and much lower than several others. read more

I was stranded when car died, and my AAA towing only covers the first 6 miles. Dave's is just down the street from my home. I usually go to another shop when I have issues, but I would have to pay extra towing to get there as it is another 3 or so miles away. They were exceptionally friendly and engaging when I got there. Took my information quickly and I was on my way. Called later in the afternoon to say it needed an alternator and new battery and charge would be $650. I needed the car the next day, but I thought that was expensive. So I called another mechanic I used recently and gave him the rundown of the work they were going to do and the cost. He said that they are a very reputable shop but they are on the "pricy" side. He said he could have replaced the alternator and battery and probably could have saved me about $200. I called Dave's and spoke with the service manager. She explained everything in detail and said they could not do the job for any less. Well, I would have had to call a tow truck at my expense this time plus I would still owe them the diagnostic charge, so the other mechanic said it would probably only save me $50 or maybe $60 if I did that. It was late in the afternoon and Dave's said they could have the car ready before they closed at 6. For all the inconvenience it would been to arrange another tow and leave work to go to the other mechanic's garage, and then to wait another day to get the car, I decided to go with the higher charges. Now I will say the car runs fine now, so no reservations about the work or the parts. They did the work quickly and did a good job, plus they included a free nationwide warranty on the alternator and battery through the NAPPA warranty service program. (I guess when they claimed to clean some acid off the battery cables for a charge of $40, that I really began to question how expensive the repair was.) So I would advise you to check around for prices if you can before you use their service, if you can. Hopefully you won't be stranded on the highway like I was and you will have a good idea of what the car needs so that you can get some competitive bids. If money is no object to you, then by all means use Dave's in Cedar Park as they were very efficient, engaging and friendly. I had to amend this review. They charged me $165 for a battery (same specs at Walmart is $93) then Charles $40 to install the battery. When I questioned the expensive installation charge (install is free at Walmart) I was told it was because they had to clean corrosion off the battery cables. Only 2 weeks later I popped the hood to check my oil and found corrosion all over the cables! read more

Dave's Cedar Park location failed badly at repairing our daughter's car. After spending $750 on a 12 volt battery and cable replacement, Dave's said everything was A OK. She drove off. Within minutes warning lights lit up the dashboard, stranding her and necessitating a tow. Scheduled an appointment with them. Brought the car in for an alignment. Communication was professional and they did a great job. No aftermarket parts and customer brought parts are allowed. They could not sync my tpms sensors, but gave great shop suggestions. If your car is more common and unmodified, they can fix pretty much anything. read more

So far, I've had nothing but great experiences with Daves Ultimate. I used the one in Round Rock to get all 4 of my tires changed, and I got my oil changed at this one (CP). I have a Prius which only takes full synthetic, so I hate having to pay an arm and a leg every time I need to get an oil change. Daves has a discount for full sythetic on their website, very affordable, and I was very happy with the price. Some places quoted me close to $100, whereas Daves quoted me half that. I had to get my oil change done as early in the morning as possible because I had to drive out of town that afternoon, and I didn't want to drive a long distance with my car constantly giving me warning signs that the oil desperately needs to be changed. I didn't want to risk something even worse, and more expensive happening, so I wanted to get it done as quickly as possible. Most places couldn't do the oil change at the time I needed, but Dave's was very accommodating and got me in right at opening! And even though it was early, when I went in, I was met with friendly and smiling faces. The whole process was incredibly smooth, and I was in and out of there in an hour. Normally the demeanor I get when I call or go to auto shops is unfriendly faces, no smiles, monotone voices - but not at this Dave's location, which I really appreciated. They even told me about one thing that needed to be changed out and quoted me on it, but it was not pushed on me what so ever. However, given the customer service and the overall service I recieved, I do think I will be brining it back to get my other repair done there. :) Not to mention, they're local to the greater Austin area. Who doesn't love supporting local businesses? So much better. I definitely recommend Daves! read more

I would have given these guys 4 stars for friendliness and the way in which they send photos of their diagnostics. However, it took 3 days to get one set of brakes replaced and an oil change. But the real kicker is how they strongly suggested I get both front and rear brakes replaced due to ware. Austin Automotive Specialists 3 months later said my older set of brakes looked fine which makes me think Dave's screwed me charging 450 to replace brakes that were fine. This was all 6 months and 15000 miles ago and my brakes are still fine. Absolutely take advantage of the "general customer" without extensive automotive experience read more

Dave's is the place to go for quality work. They are accurate in their assessment of work needing to be done and will give you an honest and competitive price. They will not come in as the cheapest but they guarantee their work for three years and 36K miles. Had my A/C replaced, brakes done, and some seals replaced (think Snowmageddon got my truck). Was expensive but they have the expertise, the tools, and let me borrow a loaner car while they worked on my 2008 Dodge Ram. I needed a muffler and they directed me to Muffin Muffler instead of charging me more to replace the exhaust system. Great folks who will get your wheels rolling again read more

I understand there is currently a bottleneck for car repairs, but after waiting for 4 days, then another full day to get an estimate, I was disturbed to realize that the markup on parts was almost 100% in some cases (even using Subaru dealer quotes, which are always higher). I'm not savvy about car repairs, so I have no idea whether the labor estimates were accurate, but the markup on parts sent up a red flag. When I asked questions about these quotes, suddenly I was offered a loaner vehicle, when the day before I was told no courtesy shuttle, no loaner available. And most distressing, the mechanic who now has my car indicates that a significant amount of the work presented on the estimate is NOT necessary. Based on my experience, I would recommend that any consumers proceed with caution. read more

I just need my blend door actuator replaced but pulling the paneling off is proving to be difficult. Almost all the way off but I figured I need some help. Called these guys and explained all the details. Guy on phone said he would first need to diagnose if it's actually that, which would cost 150+. First red flag that diagnostics aren't mentioned to be folded into the repair... I've already troubleshooted everything it could be and it is the actuator that just needs to be replaced. They won't use mine I've already purchased (which is understandable) but when I asked for a quote on what the actuator would cost he took some time and gave me a quote of almost 700$ but wouldn't disclose the price for the part which is what I asked for to gauge how much I'm being ripped off. This is why I don't trust most mechanics. Wont be coming here. I would be willing to bet they charge an insane price to replace a thermostat which is a cheap part and an easy 5 minutes if you aren't scared to try read more

Brought my 2015 Volvo in for a new battery and some air conditioning work. A few days after they worked on it, the starter suddenly failed. Cost me $800 bucks to fix, plus the tow and rental car. The work they did on the air conditioner caused an even bigger leak to the Freon and to fix this was another $1,200. I felt like they hijacked my car and I felt forced to pay for a new starter as I needed my car. They took no accountability that the work they did damaged the starter. Too big of a coincidence for me!! I will not return, felt like I got scammed. read more

This is what happened: we recently took our 2015 Toyota 4Runner to the local Toyota Cedar Park dealership for scheduled maintenance and they inform us during the service that the skid plate under the vehicle is broken and needs replacement. Fortunately, my wife asked them to place the part in the back instead of them throwing it away. The quoted parts and labor for this repair would have cost us $600. We decided to get a second opinion. :) I found Dave's Ultimate Automotive in Cedar Park on Yelp and decided to call them first based on their great reviews. I took in the 4Runner, they examined the part, the underside of the vehicle, and realized nothing was broken. They reinstalled it, and they did all this for $0. I will be referring this shop to all of our local friends because of this excellent customer experience and we will be bringing our two vehicles to them for scheduled maintenance and all other services from now on. Brought my 2013 BMW to Dave's. My vehicle was producing strange noises under the hood and the engine light was on. They explained the issues with my vehicle via a detailed diagnostics report that they sent through email, and they also gave me a call to explain the issues. The quotes I received were reasonably priced for a BMW. The customer service was superb! They also applied a new customer discount which was nice of them. I was directed to leave a message and provide the necessary information with my email address. The recording said because of COVID-19 there would be a long wait to answer the call. It didn't ask for my phone number, so I waited until the next morning and called again. I was told they answered my email the same day. About 30 minutes after I left my message. And that the response probably went to my spam folder. I suggested they provide a place to leave a phone number so they could call me as well. Also their prices are high. The part I needed replaced was available at O'Reilly for under $100. They charged over $200 for a refurbished part and over $300 for a new part. Also they charge $126 for a diagnostic check! I came here for a bad window regulator for a Kia Optima. They quoted me almost $1200 for one window. Obviously, that was outrageous so we declined service and went to pick it up. They tried to charge us $200 for just looking at it! We could tell that they didn't even take it apart or look at it. So we found Greasy Knuckles in Leander and ended up getting it fixed for $345. They are absolute scam artists! Run in the opposite direction of this shop unless you want to be charged 3x the price! read more

I needed a new alternator for my truck. I called several different places. They all quoted about the same but Dave's said they could get the work done in just a few days. And my boyfriend had work done here and was satisfied with everything. I worked with Joe and he was so nice! He sent an email with pictures and suggestions on other items to monitor. And he texted with updates. They had the work done in two days. I had to get a new battery and they let me take it and get a new one since it was still under warranty. I initially went to Dave's because my car dyed everytime I stopped unless I stopped very slowly. Dave's told me that my oil was down 2 quarts and I'd only driven 4000 miles. I found that hard to believe so decided to watch it and check it weekly. I've now gone 2000 miles and my oil is down almost a quart, so Dave's was correct. Dave's handled my problem honestly.
