Dave helped us out a couple of times with our SUV. Unfortunately, we had some scratches, and they weren't there when we dropped off the vehicle. We also have a Porsche. With this exotic car, we trusted Dave, paid for a clutch job that didn't take, and Dave told us tough tittie, and KEPT our money. I found Galindo's in Fontana. Check my positive review for Galindo who fixed the clutch for the same amount, test drove it, worked on it again, and it STILL works. Wow. After having such a great experience years ago with Dave, it disheartens me that he screwed me over. After Galindo's in Fontana, I know I don't have to throw away my Porsche. read more

I go to Dave first. His team is so knowledgeable and they always find time to fit me into their schedule. Plus, they have the lowest prices on any service my X1 has needed. My oil changes are more than half the price they want at the dealership. The one time he turned me away is when my ECU and a bunch of other things were busted and I had to tow it to the dealership. I have had Dave do inspections, oil changes, regular maintenance, etc. Always check with Dave first! read more

I've been going to Dave's for a long time seeing as how it is one of the only mechanics on the mountain....Well, I was just charged $178 for an oil change. When I called Dave to ask if he raised his prices, he said he did so by $20, still doesn't justify the high price. I am so sick of getting screwed by this establishment. So many times he has overcharged me for things in which case I have gone down the hill and paid half price, sometimes even a quarter of the price he has quoted me. He lost a customer today and will continue to do so with these erroneous prices. read more

I've know taken our cars in several times to Dave's Viking Auto in Rim Forrest. I always call ahead to make an appointment, but he's always been able to fit us in usually within a couple days. Soo much quicker than most auto repairs up here on the mtn. David is always very honest with us on what should be done and what can wait and of course he works on Subaru's but also specialty cars like my Rotary Engine Mazda RX8, specialty car and kinda rare, They always get repairs done at a reasonable cost and done quickly! Got a flat tire on Hwy 189. AAA changed the tire, as I called to find a place to get it fixed. They were so nice on the phone. We took the car over and in 2 hours the car was done. The tire was shredded so they sold me a good used tire. Very friendly and helpful. We came up to Arrowhead to relax for a few days!! They made it easier. read more

The old man was rude and wouldn't replace my tire because it wasn't the exact size and had me drive down the hill with a messed up tire and a spare to another tire shop even though he had one that will fit. He was rude and had me risk crashing luckily I found another tire shop down the street and made it there. read more

When I got my keys, I noticed they left the battery completely dead. I went back in to ask for help and the guy literally shut the garage door on me kid sentence. If it weren't for Dave and the kind gentleman who patched my tire I would've been extremely screwed (pun intended). I left work in Big Bear this afternoon and pulled into the bank in Blue Jay and noticed that my rear right tire had barely any life left. I pretty much wobbled to Dave's a mile away right before the shop closes at 5 PM (please change the time on Yelp!, Dave). Dave, at first, was understandably hesitant due to work already on the books, but after he heard my concerns of having to be at work early in the morning due to a road closure, he squeezed me in right then and there and I was out in 20 minutes. Great service. We smelled coolant while driving through Arrowhead for a visit. Didn't know what was going on so had them check to make sure the car wasn't going to overheat. They realized one of our hoses was loose, tightened it up for us and got us back on the road with no issue. read more

For a couple years, we had Viking doing some maintenance on our trucks, but within the last year we became really disappointed with them. A year ago, I took my truck in for a tire rotation and when I got the truck back, the tires were extraordinarily loud on the road. The mechanics at Viking had tilted the camber of the front wheel alignment out-of-alignment so that my tires would wear on the inside. They also over-inflated my tires, by 10 lbs. Those things could've exploded! Viking put me at danger. I never asked for a tire inflation. I asked for a tire rotation. I couldn't tell immediately what they did to my alignment until after the fact when I saw the tires wearing funny. They ruined several hundreds of dollars of tires and made my truck unsafe. For my wife's truck, we took it in for an oil change 4 months ago and they punched a hole in the transmission and the fluid dumped all over our driveway after the temporary sealant stopped working. I'm assuming the mechanics at Viking either don't know what they're doing or they're trying to drum-up more business by creating problems. We're never going there again. Beware! My family and I woke up to a tire with a slow leak. My husband saw that there was a nail in the tire. We called around and this place was the only one with availability. We showed up and was greeted my a young man. He immediately lifted our truck and removed the tire. He quickly patched up the hole and put the tire back on. He was extremely polite and even gave my husband advice about what chains to buy, in case the storm got bad. We were in and out in 20 min and it only costs us $20! One star because Dave is so polite. After numerous visits having them work on my Jeep's overheating issue they told me to simply keep the coolant level up. They replaced the radiator, thermostat and a ton of other parts but never identified the root cause. I took my Jeep to Harbor Auto in OC and within one hour they identified the issue: cracked head because of heat. I dropped about $1K at Viking and now another $2K at Harbor Auto but at least they rebuilt the engine and it runs like a new car. I feel that if Viking hard identified root cause I would not have had a cracked head. While I can't cry over spilled milk I can certainly hire the right shop for the job and it'll be Harbor Auto. read more

I discovered a nail in my tire which needed a quick repair. I called Dave's at 2:15pm; he said bring it in at 3:30pm; I was driving away with a repaired tire at 3:45pm. Needless to say, I was very impressed. I spoke to Dave and the young man that did the repair and both were friendly, courteous and very helpful. Dave is a life saver. I was trailering my boat up to Lake Arrowhead and I had a bearing go out on the trailer. Not only did the bearing go out, but it took out the hub as well as the brake. Luckily I broke down about a mile from Dave's and was able to limp into his shop at around 10:30am. And by 12:30pm, Dave and his friendly staff had me back on the road again fully repaired. I find it pretty incredible to have a shop squeeze me in on a Friday and identify the problem, get the parts and do the repair done in just 2 hours. And I had enough time to get to the lake that day and get my boat launched. I would give the service here a 5+ star rating. The only reason I gave a 4 star as I think the pricing on the parts was a bit high (But that could be that parts are more expensive on the mountain from the supply shop). But I'm not complaining as it was well worth what I paid to have that trailer fixed and get me on the road again. I highly recommend this shop and would not hesitate to use them again in the future. I trust these guys completely. Dave is great and so is Terry. They have worked on my classic '64 as well as my Jeep Wrangler. If they can do it, they do.
