There are minimal options of colors in specific gear and sizes. When ordering specific gear through them, expect a week or more wait for arrival of order. You can find a lot of the gear they offer online for similar or cheaper prices with quicker shipping. A majority of the sticks are top of the line (most expensive) and have signs of use from kids "testing" them for extended periods of time in their shooting area. If you use a popular stick specification such as hand, curve, or flex, you most commonly will not find the stick you're looking for. A standard skate sharpening has been raised to $10 and you should only expect a good sharpening from specific employees. In the long run, buying a Sparx or asking a friend to use their Sparx would be more cost effective. Besides the owner and a couple of the full time employees, most of the employees are high schoolers with little knowledge of sizing and information about the gear they are selling. Overall, I do not recommend shopping or working at Hockey Haven.

They identified a great bow for my 12 year old grandson, a Bowtech bow that can increase draw weight as he grows. They have done super work for me on my target bow; their tuning and fitting of the bow to the archer is first rate. Service and advice here is very personal; they are all hunters or target archers, and they make you feel very welcome, regardless of level of ability.

I got charged double the material cost of the clubs I purchased ($800 for 2 new volkeys). They quoted me $1400 to "pure" and install 7 dynamic golds. I walked out of there and got them online for $320 and paid my local muni $200 to install and swing weight them. To put the cherry on top, my fitter sprinted through the quote package, which almost led me to overpay even more. TLDR: I walked in, got told I was right about everything, then was charged double to 3X retail price for components.

Every ball I have gotten feels exactly the same which was a problem with my previous pro shop. They take the time to listen and share their knowledge to ensure I get the perfect ball. They have a large selection at fair prices and can usually drill something the same day. Last Christmas (so almost one year ago) we bought my daughter's ball here and had the ball measured…read moreand drilled for her. This ball was her first fingertip ball so she learned how to use the ball and has been practicing for almost a year in leagues with this ball. When leagues started this season, we took the ball into the pro shop at our league facility and they told us the ball was drilled for a right handed bowler and even her finger grips were backwards for a left handed bowler. (Her ring finger grip is in the middle finger hole and middle finger grip is in the ring finger hole) It was also drilled on the wrong side of the ball to get the action for a left handed bowler. We had her re-measured and had the ball plugged and re-drilled at the other pro shop. (We chose not to go back to Best Fit because we had problems with another ball we own being drilled at the wrong pitch) I called Best fit to talk to the owner. He said my daughters drill sheet showed she was a right handed bowler. I asked why they would put that she was right handed when her left hand was measured and he couldn't give me an explanation. He offered to plug and re-drill the ball. We declined due to the issues over the last year. Then he offered us a new ball at their cost, which we also declined due to the fact that she doesn't need a new ball, it just needs to be drilled correctly. I asked if he would make it right and allow us to come in and pick out a pair of bowling shoes for my daughter. He said yes to that. Today we went in to pick out the shoes and he said he would give us shoes at their cost, or $30 off a pair of shoes. This was not what we discussed over the phone and we paid $65 to fix their mistake. He told us if he is going to give us anything for free that he is going to take her bowling ball. He also said there's no way for him to know that she was measured for her left hand. My daughter is, and always has been, a left handed bowler. He kept telling us "it's been a year" and that's why he won't do more. How was my 11 year old daughter supposed to know her ball was incorrectly drilled? She has never had a finger tip ball. We came to this "pro" shop trusting they would set her up correctly for leagues. We would have probably never known it was wrong unless we went into this other pro shop during leagues because her finger holes were tight. I am so disappointed how he handled this situation. We have been coming to Best Fit for years getting all of our bowling equipment and now will be going elsewhere since this is how they treat their customers when THEY made a mistake. With 2 youth bowlers starting in our family, we will not be recommending "Best Fit" to anyone we know.

The greens are always in fantastic condition, and the entire property is truly a hidden treasure. But what really sets Woodland apart is the people. Every time I stop in to grab my cart key, I'm greeted by Angel. She is genuinely one of the highlights of coming to this course. She works incredibly hard, always has a smile on her face, and makes everyone feel welcome. On our most recent visit, we decided to add another nine holes. The weather took a turn, and I was debating whether to play because I was so cold. Angel actually offered me her jacket. That kind of kindness and hospitality is rare these days, and Woodland is lucky to have her. (And as a bonus, she makes an amazing Bloody Mary!)
