Making matters worse is that the shoes are double-stacked, meaning I had to pull out the first set of boxes to see if the boxes hiding behind them were 1) the shoes I wanted, and 2) the right size. This took quite a bit more time than I had anticipated spending on this activity! Once I finally found a pair that was in my size and I liked, I went up front to pay and while there were several employees hanging around the door, only one of them was at a register, so I had to wait for her to finish with the customer in front of me. Then after my transaction was complete, she told the crew that she was taking her break and someone would need to be available in her absence.

The Avenue, formally Grand Avenue Mall, has really had a face lift the past couple years. The Avenue has a lot of history behind it, once the only major indoor shopping facility in Milwaukee proper and the one time largest food court in Wisconsin, its great to see the thoughtful re-vamp of a historic part of Milwaukee. The newly re-branded Avenue is considered a shopping center, shared office space, and apartment building. While there are few retail stores, and plans for one or two more, it is not really a shopping center. Just on the other side of the building is a bustling food court wit many great options from local vendors. The many retail stores at one point have been converted to apartments, a creative way of keeping the historic look of the mall space. The space continues to have more potential and its great to see the history that still remains.
