The workmanship is standing up as well since we've had quite a few storms since then. Fast forward to today, I asked Jim to come out to perform a repair on the roof. Jim arrived punctually and immediately assessed the situation. Turns out, what I thought was a repair was actually something that didn't need to be addressed. Jim explained what I was seeing and when I asked him "What do I owe you?" He replied "Just a handshake and a smile". I appreciate the honesty from him and the education.

Not a good sign when the first words out of his mouth are trying to upsell. I told him no, broom finish. He has no tape measure with him to measure the area. He didn't have anything else to say so I asked him how would they reinforce it? How would they slope it? I think this guy was a salesperson who probably never did concrete work. Then I had to bring up the subject of stairs. I work during the day and this guy is wasting my time with his lack of sales skills and knowledge. So then he goes to his car and write up an estimate for $4,400. Congrats, you are the highest bidder! On the estimate form it says something like "Material prices go up in June, labor prices in July". This is to motivate you to sign now. He offers no information about whether or not the company is registered with the village. He wrote on the form "Customer gets permit", something we didn't discuss. I ended up hiring Caesar Garcia Concrete Solutions from Cicero thru Home Advisor. Saved $1400 with them. True professionals. Forget Vander Veer.

Our chimney needed tuck pointing in addition to various places around our home. They provided a very nice quote and seemed eager for the job. We had to wait about a month for them to come out and do our work. The work they did was not the best - our house was built in 1960 and the brick cannot be matched. I understand that, but he told us that we'd need to buy our own paint/stain for the new bricks they installed if we really wanted the bricks to match. They tuck pointed our chimney and did an okay job. Unfortunately, they forgot to install a cap for one of the chimney vents. During a very heavy rain, we had water seeping into our brick fireplace for the first time in the 10 years we've lived here. Our original quote contained a page full of photos of the areas to be tuck pointed, including a section on the front of our house. As of today, that section has NOT been tuck pointed. I spoke to the owner of Riteway and he assured us his team would be out to complete that section. That was back in September. I've repeatedly called their company to schedule someone to come out and finish the work. I've spoken to the office manager who assured me they would be out by the end of the week. That was back in October. This infuriates me because Rich came by to collect the check for the work and asked for it to be paid in full. I paid, thinking they would finish the small section that is still in need of repair. Boy, was I wrong. Don't pay them in full until the job is COMPLETE. I would give them more stars if they would simply come back to my home and finish the job they started. Horrible customer service, no follow-up, no concern for the water that damaged my indoor fireplace. A few years ago, they tuck pointed our neighbor's house. My husband caught them wiping concrete on our elm tree. That should have been a sign not to use this company, but I really thought their quality of work would outweigh them being sloppy with customer service. DO NOT use this company. I ended up going with Floor to Ceiling Renovations because Mike picked up right away, the reviews were good on Home Advisor, and he came out right away (only 2 hours after I called!) to check the bathroom out. He had such a great price for what I was asking like new floor, take the texture off the walls, new lights, vanity, etc. The communication was amazing during the whole process. His attention to detail blew me out of the water. He went above and beyond many times and found other problems I didn't think were a big deal like the wall outlet smoking and being melted. Now my bathroom outlet works amazing and I no longer have a fire hazard in there. I love my new bathroom so much. Mike and his team can renovate anything, and they can fix anything. I will be using this company again for many other repairs and projects around my house. I can't thank them enough for all their help and making my house more into a home. I highly recommend them.

He fixed some doors around the house, a couple random things like lose faucets, the whole on the wall (don't have kids people), and painted the one room the kids took permanent marker to. He is very reasonably priced. The kids loved him. I will definitely use him again as my kids continue to run wild making the house look like a tornado hit it.
