A little over a year ago I pinched a nerve in my neck (cervical radiculopathy) after sleeping in a weird position. It was horribly painful for a month or so. I received muscle relaxers which were helpful but still wanted to do something about the ongoing pain in my arm and numbness in my hand/finger. Thankfully I remembered how wonderful Dr. Sniezek and his team (Precious is the best!) And was able to have several appointments with them. Dr. Sniezek did acupuncture following tens therapy. He also showed me PT exercises to do in my own time. After several sessions, I was finally almost 100% which I never thought would be possible. Bottom line up front: Do not go if you have to pay out-of-pocket, charges will rapidly spiral upwards with little to show for it. After a recommendation by a friend, I made an appointment to see Dr. Sniezek for low back/hip pain I have been experiencing. The staff were all very friendly and professional. I clearly stated from the beginning of the appointment that I would be paying out of pocket, as chiropractic was not covered by my insurance. After seeing Dr. Sniezek for about 3-4 minutes of actual face time in which I explained the problem, I was then led to an exam room. To be fair, Dr. Sniezek is very friendly and seems to be a kind man. His assistant then returned around 5-10 minute later and informed me that I would be charged between $300-$320 for the visit. Since I was in pain and just looking for answers and relief, and thinking I would leave the visit with a better understanding of what was happening, I agreed. The Dr. then returned and spent about 2-3 minutes assessing my posture and back then left the room again to formulate a treatment plan. His assistant returned another 10 minutes later and informed me that it would be over $500 for today's "treatment" which would consist of some heat and cold therapy, and an electro-therapy device. I asked what the original $300 covered and was informed that was only for a consultation, not any treatment. The actual consultation was only a few minutes. Additionally, x-rays were recommended which were not covered by any of the above-mentioned costs and which would have been another several hundred dollars. After declining this unexpectedly expensive "treatment", the Dr. then returned several minutes later, where I inquired what his assessment of my condition was, basically what would I be learning or getting from the consultation. He was unable to offer any explanation. Basically, I spent less than 10 minutes total with the doctor, was charged $250 (given a discount upon checkout), learned nothing about my pain, and left in the exact same condition I walked in with. Unless insurance is footing this enormous bill every visit, or you have unlimited deep pockets, I wouldn't recommend visiting this doctor. read more

Went here a few times for a really sore neck. I was able to get an appointment without a problem and didn't have to wait very long to see Dr. Sniezek once I arrived. After my first visit, I felt better and I would say that I was "cured" after my follow up visit. I would certainly go back if needed. Also, through my research on finding a good chiropractor in my network, I discovered that Dr. Sniezek was one of very few MD's that are licensed to do chiropractic work - most of the other people I found were not. I'm not sure if this makes a big difference, but have a choice I definitely felt better working with a MD. read more

Fell asleep hunched over on a long flight back from vacation. Next day I wake up....whoops, looks like my back is pretty messed up. Having never had back problems before, I didn't know where to start looking for treatment. Luckily, I was referred by a family friend to Dr. Sneizik. I came to Dr. Sniezek because I had a bad reaction to a cortisone shot tied to arthritis in my neck. He's got a very calm and helpful demeanor and I found that the treatments he administers are highly effective after just a few visits. I now have much more mobility in my neck and less pain overall. Equally important is that I no longer feel the need to take pills such as Aleve throughout the day to deal with the arthritis And Precious also goes out of her way to explain the treatments and is always very cheerful and encouraging. read more

First - Thank you, Dr. Sniezek for reading my comments. It shows that you care and want a good relationship with your patients. Normally, when I read comments like the ones I'm about to write, I wonder why a person waited so long to say something, if the person is bitter, or if they had a problem paying for services, or why they'd share their business with the world. I'll share that I'm a little bitter about the unreasonable amount of time that I spent trying to figure out this bill and getting an accurate pay-off amount (which I never got). 2 years. That's how long I spent. But I'm not bitter with the doctor. He's a nice guy, and he's good at providing care. He even tried to be helpful with his billing department, but I think he trusts them. I'm not sure if he should. At least, that's my take on the whole thing. I could be wrong. My credit is exemplary, and I like to keep it that way. We got lots of threatening letters, AFTER we'd paid the bill in full, telling us that we still owed bits of money (in some cases, BIG bits of money). I called and asked why, and how that could be, since I'd only seen Dr. Sniezek a handful of times, and I hadn't seen him since 2006, but I got vague answers. My reasons for writing a review this late after the fact are 1) Yelp is just now relevant, 2) I am currently seeking an East/West doctor, but I'm gunshy after this experience. Working without an insurance company to help advocate on my behalf, and ensure accurate billing, did not go well, 3) I hope I can help others. I felt alone - like I didn't have any way to get help, and the person in billing who kept talking to me made me feel bad - like I was in the wrong, even though I knew I wasn't. (I work for an accounting firm!) In case anyone else is wondering if they're the only one, I want you to know that you're not. I just didn't know what else to do, so I just continued paying what was asked, but I know that's not the right answer. I just don't know what is the right answer. Maybe if I speak up, someone else can point to this review and say, "HEY...wait just a minute." Or, maybe the doctor will question his billing department, since I see that he reads the comments here (which I find admirable). In response to Dr. Sniezek's note, he probably doesn't even know what went on, but I still have all of the letters between me and Lenin Lobaton (in the billing dept.) spanning 2006-2008. I was told that I'd "paid off one account, but still owed on another account", even though I only saw Dr. Sniezek a handful of times, and ended all services in 2006. Why would I have more than one account? I wasn't a complex patient. I had no choice, but to continue to pay the bills that kept arriving. I kept getting threatening letters and I value my credit greatly, so we just kept paying them, despite the fact that we had no idea why I was continuing to pay in 2008 for services I'd ended in 2006 (and paid for in full). Each time I confirmed that the bill was paid in full, I'd receive another bill. My letters to Mr. Lobaton request a Letter of Zero Balance, which never arrived. Eventually, I had to go into the McLean office and insist that I would not leave until we'd settled and I had a letter in-hand. That day, I believe we settled for something paltry like $25 (if memory serves). It was just ridiculous. Of course, I'd gone to see Dr. Sniezek for an issue that required East/West philosophies, so to have stress over billing wasn't helpful. I could afford to pay for the services. It was just a matter of being accurately and completely billed, and then left alone once I'd paid. In summary, Dr. Sniezek is (again) probably unaware that this problem happened, but it did. I'm glad to see him reading the comments about his office. That is reassuring. It means that he cares, and that he doesn't want a poor patient relationship. I believe that he has either already gotten to the bottom of the issue, or that he will do so. My best advice to the doctor is to be sure that he's satisfied with his billing department, and to patients, to be sure that you're completely clear on what you plan to pay, what you have paid, and when your account is clear. I'm raising my star rating by one, because Dr. Sniezek read the comment and seems to want to make it better. I hope he has, or will. I need a good East/West doctor. read more

I came in for an acupuncture treatment on my wrist that have soreness due to my occupation being on a computer all day. The office was crowded, chaotic, and just crumby looking. The doctor seemed knowledgeable but the treatment seemed slap-dash, the acupuncture was performed on a narrow bed made for chiropractor, and now like a week after i'm still feeling soreness, this is only my 5th different acupuncture professional but was my first with no results, also the final cost for the inial visit without insurance was 250, future visits would be 150. But I wont be returning for acupuncture. read more

I've had an issue with chronic pain for a long period of tim and saw Doctor Sniezek and his team to try to figure out what's causing it and (ideally) how to fix it. My initial consultation went well. Dr. Sniezek listened and seemed to empathize and understand the problem, but it went downhill from there. I was quickly told I'd be doing a slew of treatments (several times a week mind you) without any real explanation of what they were, what he thought my problem was, and how it was going to help. I played along and did my recommended treatments, but after my initial consultation didn't really interact with the doctor for more than 30-60 seconds per trip. I was never told what my diagnosis was or how any of this was going to fix it (and it turns out it had no impact at all). That's not the kind of relationship I want with a doctor, especially when it involves an issue like chronic pain. At the end of the day, I never truly felt like my concerns or problem was heard or properly diagnosed. The treatments did nothing and, and I began to feel like I was part of a wild goose chase of "let's throw some stuff on the wall and see what sticks." That said, he and his staff were always friendly and prompt, so I can't fault them there, hence the two stars. read more

To preface, I do not typically write reviews. I also do not like going to the doctor, and this is why I felt strongly that Dr. S and his entire staff deserve the highest praise. I am 29 and was experiencing pain in the middle of my back. A friend's father recommended Dr. Sniezek and told me to go once, promising me it will be different than my previous experiences with doctors. I obliged and am glad I did. Getting an appointment was simple and the office is in a nice location (which definitely helps). The staff was friendly from the moment I stepped off of the elevator and created a genuinely warm environment--something I have NEVER felt in a doctors office. Didn't have to wait long to see Dr. S. Like his staff, he is an amiable man who makes you feel comfortable right away. He spent time to learn about my pain and my past activities/habits. After reviewing my MRI, he explained the problem in a way that made it easy to understand. It was obvious he cared that I knew exactly what was going on and made sure I did before talking about treatment. I felt comfortable asking questions, and again, he answered in layman's terms, not doctor speak. Instead of writing a prescription and sending me off with some advice, he lined up a treatment regiment, followed up with my progress, and taught me what I needed to do to prevent this from happening again. My back feels better than ever. I highly recommend Dr. Sniezek and actually enjoyed going to his office. read more

His medical expertise is accompanied by his authentically empathetic manner and confident demeanor. Further, my administrative experiences at both his DC and McLean offices have been extraordinary. I am always treated with a warm greeting by his courteous staff and have always been seen at my scheduled appointment time. I would recommend Dr. Sniezek to anyone with back or neck injuries. Dr. Sniezek was recommended by a physiotherapist friend for my sudden low-back/sciatica pain, and although I was hesitant at first because I had never been to a chiropractor and my insurance would not pay for it, I also wanted to find a cure for my problem rather than a temporary fix with a steroid injection. Although my progress was slower, as Dr. Sniezek explained it would be, I found I progressively improved, and after 12 sessions and the gentle exercises I was given to do, I am now pain free. I feel the root cause of my condition and pain has been addressed and I will not hesitate to return if my back flares up again. The staff are also most kind and caring.
